Okay so with my brawl box i edit my stages right. I've done this a few times and have had no problems. But I went and edited the prevbases and iconnames of all stages and now my stage menu freezes! D: they're all in png, they all have the correct height x width (ive checked multiple times) any clues?

The only thing I can think of is region... Do you use North American, PAL or Japanese Brawl?

Then I don't really see a problem... actually, filesize. It could be too big that it freezes...
