guys I downloaded an only 50mb photoshop CS3
Free and not limited
just search google for photoshop cs3 50mb free download
there is nothing you cant do with photoshop
but only transperancy and alpha things actually you can do them on gimp or paint.NET
I have that link in my ASH thread ALSO YES YOU CAN DO TRANSPARENCY IN CS3 (YES THE 50MB VERSION TOO) ITS CALLED AN ALPHA LAYER. All photoshops in the "CS*" range all require an alpha layer to get transparency.

I always use Photoshop CS3. Because I don't have CS4. I use photoshop CS3 for doing most of the texture, CS4 for the the stuff CS3 doesn't have and photoshop 7 for alpha stuff.
why? Photoshop CS3 have alpha layers too.

Sometimes GIMP, sometimes Photoshop. Depends on my mood and what kind of texture I'm working on. For some examples: my Hydrocity Zone texture was created with Photoshop, while my Rave & Watch texture was created with GIMP.

I use GIMP because it's free (or at least the way I got it) and I don't spend money on anything for hacking.

I use Paint.NET for texturing and GIMP for detailing and indexing. I personally find it a little intimidating, though useful.
