Getting better, the lighting still seems very harsh though. It goes from dark to light too suddenly in many areas, and it may be too dark in some areas too. It becomes especially apparent on the second one.

The flame looks kinda forced and sticks out to me, it looks more like it's made of glass than fire, and the outer glow and darker colours on the second one make it stick out more. You don't need to shade fire, as it tends to make it look more like a solid object.

I wasn't a fan of the flame either, easy fix though. For the first Charizard, I purposely went for a hard realistic render for a darker Pokemon style.

    This was the smooth render.

I feel as though the shadows aren't being portayed correctly. Pointers? Sorry fof the constant bother.

The main thing I would suggest if you're having trouble with lighting is to just put an object up to the light and study how it lights the object. Of course you can't get very specific shapes like Toon Link's face in real life, but it'll help you for sure.

Then, once you've got a good idea how light affects stuff, you can imagine a light source when you're doing these. The same location as the light source in BrawlBox would probably be best.

I'm considering writing up a tutorial on how to make CSPs with the "paint method," would there be people who would actually read it?

There are many people who admire your renders, including me. So yeah, I'm pretty sure it'll get attention.

Paint.NET is all I have to work with, so I would definitely read that.

Well, since I made CSPs for a certain model, I figured I may as well re-use the pose for vBrawl Marth as well. Enjoy!

You can grab Photoshop CS2 for free here. Hopefully this helps out!

Yeah, that wrist ruins the pose. Other than that, I'd try shifting the lighting more so it hits the front of his face, rather than the side. It's creating some unattractive shadows, and makes him look sorta evil. Other than that, the lens flare seems kinda forced, I'd recommend removing it entirely.

Lighting quality and that isn't really an issue here, the bigger issue is more the pose. It feels awkward to me, with the whole head being removed and that. It's a step in the right direction though, as it sorta gives off Bowser Jr's playfulness, I just feel like it's weird to have a head disconnecting in a CSP. The sparkle in the eye feels a bit unneeded too, I'd say getting rid of it would work.

And for future posts wanting advice, I'd appreciate it if they could be sent as PMs rather than post here, as to not clutter up the portraits forum.
