Hold up; you might want to hold up on that. I'm lovin' the enthusiasm, and I hate to step on your toes but I think that font doesn't quite fit the project. Lemme pitch somethin' simple: Top is Impact, bottom is Trebuchet (italicized). Whatcha think?

LOL.
Nah man, I wasn't planning on an official nostalgia banner. I was just directing people's attention to this thread, also, I needed a reason to get rid of that annoying empty space my sig had. The banner is your job really XD
As for your banner, yes, simplicity at its finest. Might wanna make the red a bit brighter... but just a bit.

Prepare to have your mind blown: To make this thread even more unique... Don't make the characters appear as they are in game, but rather, make them appear as the concept of those games! I think it would produce a much better design if you were to imitate the artwork instead : ) example: This is how Zelda 2 Link supposed to look like, but due to hardware limitations, he looks like the character we all see on the screen. Another example: This is how DDD supposed to look like, but due to gameboy graphics, he looks like he lacks coloration. Just imagine what the designers would have done if they were on Brawl's team. Post Merge: February 02, 2014, 12:07:59 PM
Third example: Bowser.

:C I'm afraid that's not the idea behind the project. Of course, the concept has crossed my mind before; but ultimately the project's primary focus is strictly in-game, rather than the artwork.
Now, artwork is in fact a part of the development process: In some cases, I'm using it as a reference for vertexes, but vertexing only. Colors must be sprite based/texture based.
The reasons for this are very simple: the in-game sprite/texture is what you see when you're playing. Obviously, you remember that as opposed t the artwork in the manual.
Furthermore, using artwork would greatly diminish the amount of potential material I have to work with. For example, the Mario Bros. 3 pic you posted? It would be silly to make a Mario based on that artwork, because... it's just normal Mario, haha. Same thing with that Dedede. It looks almost exactly like his N64 appearance; why scrap his monochrome GB design when I can make both?
While artwork is being referenced in certain cases, I really think it would be a poor choice as the basis for the entire project.

Am I the only one that can see Bowser wearing a cape? I never knew they put that in his artwork. It looks so out of place for him. Very strange.
Anyways, I really like how this is all coming along here Amarythe. It looks great. All of it does. Good job! Also, like I said in your other thread. Once you get to the PSA's again, I'll gladly help with testing if you need it.

Yep; glitches and bugs are sure to be trouble. Do you have any PSA experience?
I've got Luigi, Sonic and Olimar cooking. I'm pretty sure Luigi and Olimar are ready, however Sonic keeps giving me trouble. T_T No matter HOW many times I mess with his textures, I can't make him as bright as I'd like.
I think it's got something to do with his "mask" textures, so I've brightened them a bit. Hopefully that doesn't screw things up royally.

Luigi and Olimar's standard outfit now in the Vault! And as an added bonus... ^These Dededes took like 15 minutes, lol. I had the base ready after the NES one, so I thought... why not? xD

Isn't Paper Mario StarWaffle's? I thought this pack was a collaboration.

...Nah man, I intend on keeping it all 3D, haha. SMB Mario is in the pack, man! If I did that slot in 8bit, for the sake of consistency I'd want to have ALL the retro hacks 8bit. That's just way too much work, not to mention it wouldn't blend into the game well. Because it's not his Mod.
Starwaffle's Paper Mario is in the pack tho. In fact, the whole package uses Smash 3 Mario as a base. Of course, I edited the texture to each and every slot (even Paper Mario), but even so. Every now and then I build off of other people's work. Of course, I'd never just copy/paste somebody's file into my package, haha.

Tsk. It's so nostalgic. :X Could I maybe request a matching CSP (if all the others in your pack match) so I can use it with the rest of your pack via CBliss?
