Hi guys. Today I'm continuing FoD. But, before that, I have something to show, and something to say.
First of all, a new picture of FoD, the stage that's said my most beautiful stage.
Now, a picture of a stage I started doing last summer. HeartGold Battlefield. All the pokemon are almost ready, and only changing the color of the trees is left.
And now some personal reflexion. I'm going to show an example of something and my thoughts about it. But this is only one example, there are many others over the vault.
First, showing this picture. It's LenSho's latest stage, the Lance arena in Pokemon Stadium 2 (N64). I have to admit that the idea is good, and I had the very same idea for a future stage of mine. I don't know if I will still be doing it anyway.
Well, you could say, 'oh, cool stage, nice work LenSho'. Yes, and no. The lighting is strange, the pokemon in the background have a darkened texture, and well, he intended to use shadows for the stage, but instead of using my shadow system, he tried his own one, and failed. The shadows were too high over the floor, and they were completely pixelated. Also, the pokemon in the background aren't casting any shadow, and with the brightness of the bloor, that looks weird... At least for me O.o
Well, now I'm showing you a stage I've made from his:
New lighting, my shadow system, shadows for every pokemon... Looking tons better in my opinion. And it took me not much time. If it wasn't by the pokemon texturing problem (they're from pokepark they're not always working correctly), it would have been really no time.
So, here are my thoughts:
People should perfect their hacks before submitting. It's okay having many ideas, but they should be acceptable when they're shared. LenSho, for example, is not a bad stage hacker, many people claim him as the best of them. But, in my opinion, he doesn't really finish most of his hacks. Mushroom kingdom and Brawl Galaxy are good concepts, good ideas, but they somewhat lack execution. At least in my opinion, I could be wrong. I personally think that Alternative Mario Circuit and Mushroom Kingdom are similar, but my stage is much better in terms of execution, detailing, perfection. I could have done that stage in one day, the first video I showed was made in one single afternoon. But having perfect collisions, smooth animations, shadows everywhere, etc took me some time, and that's reflected in the final thing I guess.
Note that I'm not attacking LenSho, I like LenSho. It's just an example. There are many people who fill the Vault with unfinished or glitchy things. And I guess they shouldn't.
Also, my other thought is about me fixing his stage. Many people would upload the fixed version of another's hack as a separate download, some of them without even asking. And I'm against that too. I of course could share it if somebody wants it, or I could send it to LenSho so he updates his submission with the fix. But I would never upload it as an own work. And, many people would do it.
Said everything, I'm back to FoD.
