I'm having a moral dilemma

Alright I have been working on a kingdom hearts project ( with the intention of replacing everything in brawl with kh) for sometime my mods are good and decent but I feel I am putting to much in it, then I saw the latest version of project m and loved it. The project was basic and professional looking and when it comes to placement I'm not too good in the area so I had the idea what if I use the new project m as a base for my project? I wouldn't claim anything of theirs as my own and by the time I am done it wouldn't have like turbo mode or stuff like that.
Now the dilemma I need help with is if I gave original credit to the team after my final project would this be a D bag move or not?, I really would like someone else's opinion on this before I decide to go through with it I respect the team and I don't want to do anything insulting so that's why I am asking the brawl vault for their opinion is this ok or not?

Do you think you are able to handle all the codes and stuf like that which are included in Project M?
If you use it you NEED to give credits. I personally think it's okay, as long as you credit the persons. But why don't you ask them!?

Well honestly I didn't think about asking them, I'll give it a shot but I'll probably get ignored, that seems to be the general reaction every brawl modder gives to no names, unfortunately.

Lol well mewtwo2000 is one of the few molders that I have spoken with that actually respond and help, there are a few others but I don't personally have much luck.
