Brawl/Project M Character Help

Hey guys new to the vault and its awesome. :D But I have a question: How do I ADD new character skins/color variations to characters. IE: Project M added Mr. L, as a separate color variation. I'm trying to do the same and I'm wondering if anyone here can help. Thanks!
