I'm trying to find a way to compress .wavs so I can insert them into a sawnd file (with Super Sawndz), but am having little luck.

Whenever I try to do it, it gives me the following error:

    frequency 44100
    nonlooping sample.new size inst 0
ERROR: Size of sawnd.spd file is too small.
Try using a bigger sound file.

    What does this mean?

I've tried using Audacity to change the frequency, but it just lowers the pitch...

Anyone have an idea of how I can make sound files smaller?

It just depends on what's on the file, whatever is in the file must be to large and cannot be fixed.

So let's say I want to create a .sawnd file, how can I do this? It seems like I can't even import .wav files ever, they're always too big?

If you havent figured it out heres my step by step for what i usually do

first make sure the frequency of your wavs are 22050 [i think thats what it was] what i usually do for that is load the wav in audacity and check its frequency[hz] in the bottom left corner, and chenge it there and export it

then you wanna make sure you have all the ids you'll need. Again i make use of a different proram known as super sawndz. load a smashsoud.brsar, find the character you want to replace, expand it, expand again, and check each file there for each sound,, and on the side next to the list, each time you click on a sound it shows its ids you need. now if you know how to import the wavs via super sawndz then just do it like that, personally i dont know how so i just jot down the ids

after that, with everything set up, insert the wavs into the smashbros sound file. when your done with that, as i dont know how to do this with normal sawndz, open up your smash sound file again in super sawnds, click again on the character list you just replaced, but dont expand it, and click on create sawnd.

ta-da, thats how i usually get it to work
