Hi I hope this is the right place to post this, I just have a few questions atm. I have the misty melee trophy and it came in as a .obj and .mtl. I'm not sure if I need to convert it somehow to a .dae or not. also im having some trouble locating the .pac and .pcs of brawls original poketrainer to base the import off from brawlbox. any help would be greatly appreciated Smiley.

Well, if you want the model to be able to move instead of look like a statue, you would have to convert it to .dae(And rig it, as .obj is an un-rigged format)

You can import it via any common 3d program(Like 3DS Max or Blender); however, 3DS Max or Maya are difficult to learn, and Blender can be tricky.

Any clues on how I would go about converting it using 3ds max? Atleast to .dae or some compatable file format.

Yes. You import the .obj, rig it, then use the 3DS Max Scripts to export it in the proper .dae format.

you need to import the obj to 3ds max then edit the model to stay in T pose and then rig it over pokemon trainer bones; once you are done imporing it, you would need to export it from 3ds max to brawlbox, for which you need the fbx plugin for 3ds max (which you can google depending on your 3ds max version).
I wish you lok because pokemon trainer is a hard character to import over because of its very low filesize, if you exceed the filesize compared to the original .pac/.pcs, it will crash
