I got the sc_selmap.pac Beyondyou posted somewhere and it stopped freezing, but when I tried to switch the Wi-Fi Waiting Room SSP back to Rumble Falls it started freezing again. What is it that causes the freezing and what do I need to do fix it?

I don't think so, it was working fine with the pac Beyondyou posted until I put Rumble Falls back in and that was taken directly from the original common5. I guess Rumble Falls is such a horrible stage it actually ruins anything associated with it lol.

Had this exact problem. The problem is that there is a filesize limit as far as how big the sel_map file can be before the game freezes. BeyondYou's upload is just below this limit. When replacing the Wi Fi preview pic (which is tiny in file size) with the bigger DK preview, the file is pushed past the acceptable limit and thus doesn't load properly. My suggestion to fix this and avoid future issues if you think you might be importing other pictures later (for custom stages and such); go into Brawlbox, export each and every picture from your sel_map and convert them to index color mode in photoshop. This will drastically lower the file size of each picture and will allow you to import without fear of freezes. It is, granted, a rather tedious process, but it's your best bet.

yeh make sure theyre the right size always. also, make sure the ones that say "True" are indexed. I know for a fact that the small portraits need indexing.

Great thanks for the quick help, I was kind of thinking something along those lines, but didn't want to jump into something so time consuming without knowing it would work, thanks so much folks!
