Which colors correspond with what numbers?

When you texture hack a character, lets take captain falcon, you have to put Fitcaptainxx into the Captain folder on the sd card. But what color does it cover on the character selection screen? I've been trying to figure this out for the longest time and its all making no sense. For the fitcaptain00 i figured that it was the default color for captain falcon but its not. I'm out of ideas, does anyone know how it works? I've tried texture hacking all the other hacks for falcon but its all just so confusing. Help? lol
