Hey Aafyre, I found a glitch, Banjo glitches when throw by Diddy Kong.
He may have a similar grab glitch that Mickey did. Due to what was done to make the face visible without a hurt face most likely.

Oh, and I've recently run into a lot of throwing glitching with Mickey Mario, specifically C Falcon and Mario throwing him. Anyone notice this?

^ I had some grabbing issues, when I grabbed Mario with Ike/Marth/Zelda/Sheik/Link (With one of these) he instantly died.

Beyond said in the description there was glitching when grabbed. Probably easy to fix though. <.<

Also, how does one go about bringing a topic to attention without bumping? My topic wasn't even a day old and it's on the second page already; now no one will ever see it. What should I do if this happens?

If it's a hack topic, you have to try making things interesting enough to keep people posting. If it's a request, hope it's something a lot of people want or something someone wouldn't mind making.

But I thought the rules said you can't bump if it's not contributing to the topic.

Also, it's none of the things you said; all my topics are usually help topics. And I know people know the answers to them, they just probably don't feel like answering or the people that know the answers aren't lurking that board a tthe right time.

I know how that is. My tutorial threads get very little responses. I just have to assume it's helping. If it's a help thread, then people either don't know or don't feel like answering for whatever reason because they think someone else will answer.

After a week, if nobody answers your help thread and you still don't know. Bump it. >_>

The rule is more against repeatedly bumping topics in a short period of time.

Not easy to come into someone's PSA thread just to say "You seemed to have done everything wrong. >_>" Since a PSA is based on a person's personal experience with that character normally. They can't make something everyone wants. Nothing pleases everyone.

Even Cloud was hated for being strictly Dissidia Cloud. Giving him magic. Some people hated that saying it doesn't fit him at all.

Hollow brought this to my attention. This seemed like it really need the push to really work as Sephiroth. Plus, it's for Hollow's benefit that I said all I said.

Well Data you weren't the only one giving feedback on this. Many people, you included only talked about the balancing. I was the first to say that this felt nothing like Sephiroth and the moveset as is isn't fitting. Don't beat yourself up alone because you and others were only giving your own personal balancing opinions. Nobody cut to the heart of the character before thinking about what needs balancing for what animations he was given. I honestly can't even think as far as balancing for his moveset since it just feels like "Generic Paladin with long sword" right now. >_>

I was expecting to be flamed pretty bad for coming in and saying everything I said. I'm just glad Hollow took my criticism in a positive way.

It's one thing to make a Sephiroth PSA, but another to make a character play and feel like Sephiroth. Not just from a Dissidia standpoint since I've only used Cloud and Cecil in Dissidia. I was basing how this PSA feels on KH1/2, FF:CC and AC. He fights in a similar fashion in all of those, just magic to sword skills vary between games for him. Dissidia would just provide more solid animation ideas for moves, aerial attacks and I honestly like his Dissidia Super Nova a lot better then the generic one.

Shoots a shockwave that has to hit. Then the Nova flies towards them/surrounds them and blows them up. Similar to Ike's final. Main hit zone with collateral mid special. That seems a lot more fitting then the big planet exploding one that makes the sun expand and wipe out the Earth. Just to not kill.

That's probably going to be my only special suggestion here btw. Tongue

Pit's AI is okay for Sephiroth, because he can fly back to the stage.
But there's also the other specials to think about. Down B reflect. Neutral B charge and aim from really far away. And semi-random Side-B.

The other ones that could probably assist with CPU flight would be Sonic, Yoshi, Ness, Lucas, ROB, DK, Dedede, Bowser, and Peach. Probably more but aren't coming to mind.

I only brought up how he didn't move or act anything like Sephiroth ever did. And I haven't been around the forums, only hearing on MSN from Jiro about wanting me and others to try the beta but wasn't sure about handing it to any of us. Otherwise I would have given input since Hollow started.

I never brought up balancing because like Oizen said, nobody in Brawl is balanced. If you want to really balance a character, just make them play how they would be and make them not dominate every Brawl character.

As far as I'm concerned from everytime he's fought, Sephiroth is fast, kinda low damage and decent knockback in air, decent ground damage and more knockback growth. Bad end lag to compensate. And like in Aafyre's request thread, his dash attack had some bad start up and end lag just like Ike's dash attack.

If Hollow brought it to the team's attention sooner then asking for the feature, he would have gotten our feedback way before finishing anything at all.

I'm not bashing his testers because I wouldn't know who tested, but Miacis is one of the best people to give a good character review, and you should ask more people with experience in making detailed characters for opinions. Testers who know from experience how to implement a new feel and can suggest what's lacking and where. Not saying that anyone who never made a new character wouldn't know what to point out, but they'd probably have more insight, especially being able to point things out specifically in the PSA coding-wise.

I know most people would probably want Dissidia Sephiroth with some Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts, but go over everything and brainstorm what you think would fit, take your time on it. Starting with the basic attacks and moving up to specials last. Then adding the little subtle things that aren't noticable to most people. They create the feel even if people wouldn't notice a tiny rumble/GFX/SFX tweak.

There's always changing whose AI he uses based on his moves and specials so CPU fights right.

Like Cloud, he has Link's AI so he'd charge his Neutral B from afar, use Side B from mid-range, Up-B's are similar enough, and he'd use Down-B now and then to far away enemies.

And Naruto, he has Marth's AI. This is for the multiple Side-B uses, Counter, and charging Neutral B or using in air Neutral B at mid range enough to dive and hit with it.

After you have him more or less finished, finding a good AI could help make or break the feeling of really fighting Sephiroth if someone else isn't using him.

Also, dingo, I'm not sure giving the three Spells for the three specials would be so great, dingo. That would make this PSA nothing more than "Elemental Swordsman Guy 1.5". Sephiroth's recognizable techniques are his sword techniques, and Meteor. That's what he uses in Dissidia too. I think Meteor needs to be kept.
And I do agree that it feels like a moveset-altered swordsman ...  Undecided

Well this seems like a blended Sephiroth of all of them. He only uses Firaga and Blizaga in FF7. 2/3 FF7 specials, so why not all 3 if he's using FF7 Sephiroth Specials? I agree with sticking to his sword techniques aside from Meteor (which could be Cloud's B specials but Sephiroth's version of them).

Sephiroth varies too much between games.
FF7/CC = Sword and heavily magic based
KH1/2 = Heavily sword with magic
Dissidia/AC = Almost purely sword only

Dingo: Thank you. I've just been following other people's ideas and not doing anything that seems like Sephiroth. That's it. I'm completely re-formating him.

No more fake Sephiroth.

I was honestly a little worried about some bad reception to everything I said regarding this project. Undecided

If you are going to redo it all, you should look over Aafyre's request, and look through videos of him in all games to see what might fit the most.


But this time? Don't let people rush you, please, you need to take your time with this, balancing, play testing, having play testers testing it... Just don't let them rush you. Tongue

Honestly, if there isn't 2-4 months of work dedicated into a sole PSA, it probably won't be all that great or high quality.

He has some of Ike's animations where fitting. Blade Beam, Bair, U-Tilt. Pit's Uair. And A LOT of custom animations made new just for Cloud. Sephiroth heavily lacks individuality. Especially since Sephi uses 2 hands when swinging his sword. Nobody in brawl keeps their hands on their sword that much. Ike and Link/TLink very little. Maybe beam sword animations for almost everyone else.

Sephi still seems too meshed together animation wise to me. He isn't unique as he stands now. And not just saying .Fade could make his own. Hollow should try himself to make Sephiroth play like Sephiroth.

Unless someone else would want to put the time in to making Sephiroth unique.

I played it for the feel and looks, and at this point, it should be something on par with the Cloud PSA.

These are just my opinions.
It just didn't feel like, or look like Sephi to me. Many swapped animations without the changes for uniqueness. Doesn't make him stand out as his own character. Just seems like an animation swap PSA. Lacks the love of making him a unique character.

He doesn't seem very much like Sephiroth to me in gameplay. Unless it was just my Dolphin running it too slow. Sephiroth is someone that inflicts low to decent damage, fast attacks, long range, has a little low knockback and has really long end lag to balance his speed, range, and crazy spacing. I felt the end lag. I didn't feel the speed of attacks.

You also gave him meteor for a special...THE strongest spell in some to most FF games. It's just a smaller, slightly weaker supernova. For a magic based Sephiroth, it should have been Firaga, Blizaga and Thundaga. He actually used those in FF7 too.

Granted Sephiroth was the base for this, this doesn't feel anything like him. Just feels like a swordsman with extra range. I see some attacks that were in Aafyre's request thread. But Sephiroth uses two hands for his sword, and unique attacks fitting his speed and end lag would make this feel like it's not a meshed together character. He doesn't feel complete, maybe just the starting point. Just not something that can ever compete with his counter part that made Sephiroth so desired in Brawl.

Also since this takes more then 1 slot, a costume pack would have been good to go with him.
