I'm trying to use custom character portraits, but the game freezes when I try to Brawl. I tried using Common5.pac and selcharacter.pac, but it just freezes on me. What am I doing wrong?

Ok, i'm new at this and I have a couple questions, I don't care if there stupid or not.
If I download brawlbox, will it work without framework? Do I need framework to run it? I'm asking this because this is the only thing I would need framework for.
And what the heck is a PSA?
