46  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Kage's Inner Sanctum: Spider-Man Close to Completion! New Poll! on: January 21, 2014, 12:15:27 PM
Well if you're busy, I could just animate Maximum Spider myself. It looks fairly simple to animate actually.

Currently, the model I have has an exploding head isssue. When I play with it in game, his head polygons are all over the place. Kinda an issue...

The model and model changers are fine, its just the head part.

The projectile, I'd like to be an actual one, so the PSA should be ported over to Wolf so that it can remain an actual projectile. I just don't know what that will do to Spider-Man's other specials... since last time I messed with Wolf (Wolverine v2) I had a hard time doing anything too different with Wolf's specials.

Neutral special in the air (and depending on the situation... ground) was gonna be a Web-Zip like attack where he shoots webs and then dashes towards the person he shot the web string at. (Meaning the web string would act like a psudo hook shot and instead of bringing the person to you, Spider-Man went to that person.) But I've been told that its complicated to PSA... so that may be out of my skill range.

So as a backup, I can keep the neutral special Web Ball. However, if I'm going to do that, I'd prefer the webball to be an actual projectile. Wolf is clone-able so he's a good candidate. Also, web ball is much easier to PSA then the previous neutral special idea. (though I like the other one better)

Wolf is an option due to his projectile and clone ability.

But the big issue here is the exploding the exploding head thing.

Update:

PSAing Spider-Man is a cake walk.

However, I'm having issues with his model. For some unknown reason... His HEAD polygons explode in-game for me.

Its very frustrating.

But aside from model issues (which I can't fix, but am looking for someone who can) PSAing him is simple and easy to do. Though, some may be a tad upset. In my play testing, I hadn't PSA'd his neutral b (web ball) so it still functioned like Sheik's... which... was really nice.  I MAY have to keep using her needles. Meaning spidey will be using an article, which IIRC (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) makes her/him not portable?

I plan to do great things with that Model... count on it.

I have it too.I should probably use it

Nothing...

His previous/current down throw had a lot of forward movement as well. What usually happens is that his body doesn't go passed the ledge, but IIRC, the target's will. Which makes the F throw and down throw cool. The F throw could potentially meteor, and the down throw is just cool if you kick them over the ledge, then web them back to you.

Also, his previous/current down throw takes up about the same distance as his new F throw.

Add an additional in-between frame of him bending his arm a little after he's finished swinging it. It'll make it look less stiff.

Been a while since I posted here, but for those who don't tune into my thread, Spider-Man v2 is almost complete.

I don't know how to port. But I'm not stopping anyone who wants to port him.

Project Fusion plans to put him over a Wolf clone slot...

Cali put him over PKMN trainer...

So people can do what they want. I'll just lay down the basis and make it as easy as possible.

So no special gfx, or article usages... Spider-Man is a very simple hack... The only thing different is the model's bones.

I would like him ported as well though. Beause I also have plan to make Nightcrawler, and Sheik works as a base. I'm waiting on the model to be finished.

At any rate...

Whats left to finish for Spidey:

Keeping the Aerials the same

New animations for the side specials

Up-Special air. (I may end up using a modified version of the ground one.)

Working out the logistics of his Neutral B air. I WANT to make a false tether, to where Spider-Man  shoots out a web string, and IF he hits someone with it, he zips towards them. But I need to find someone who can code that. I was told its possible. I'm really not in the mood to PSA it myself because it would require me to do more research then I feel like doing.

If I find someone who can code it, once I know how it needs to be coded, I can animate the parts it needs (cause specials need to be animated in parts sometimes)

Forward throw

Backwards throw

Maximum Spider Air Final Smash

Not a lot left to animate... so I'm looking for my PSAer. I have a few candidates, also accepting volunteers for anyone willing to give it a shot...

The hard parts for the PSA will be:

Being able to code a normal move to end in the air if the hitbox connects.
Being able to code directional inputs to make the side special go in different directions (can probably copy the original PSA for this)
Being able to code a fake tether type of attack. (Explained above)

Aside from those things, the rest is fairly simple PSA work. I can do most of it, but if I have to PSA this thing, it'll probably never get released... or not for a long time that is... I hate PSAing THAT much.

Edit:

All throws are complete.

I've decided to keep the aerials the same.

Not gonna make a third wait.

All thats left is to re-animate the side specials. Since he's gonna be able to go up, down, diagonal up and diagonal down, thats 4 animations in the air, + 2 animations on the ground

I've decided to make the Air up-special, the same as the ground one. So all I have to do is edit the starting frames for it.

And lastly, animate Maximum Spider. OR if chaoticchronos does a good job of animating it, I'll use his.

Some of the normals have already been psa'd. But I'll probably be handing the heavy psa work off to A Bloody Canadian for our trade since once I'm done with Spidey's animations, I'll jump into the ones ABC wants for BPM.

Edit: I also figured out how to slow down BrawlBox's gifs.

Sorry... thats my fault. I meant to type "Down Throw"

But what he's doing is kicking the target away, webbing them and then pulling them towards him, then smashing them into the ground. Lastly, he bounces off their smashed body.

Done for the day here are some more gifs:

Down Throw:

BrawlBox makes the gifs waaaaaaaaay too fast... is there any way to slow that down?

My post got really long...
Its not specifically -for- any ports, but I'm sure Leon or Calikingz will port it eventually.

This moveset is a huge overhaul of the previous Spider-Man's PSA.

All new smash attacks (which are done)
Specials are re-animated to look more Spider-Man like... meaning more flare. I'm still brainstorming on how to animate the side special...

I -WANT- to add in tricks...

The current two options for Tricks are:

1: You press/hold a button while falling to do special fall animations.

or

2: The side and up specials will automatically place you in a random unique fall which will work like any other fall... meaning its interrupt at any point. Its just there for flare.

===

I'm removing his punching up-Special in favor of the non-damaging up-specials. This justifies the distance they cover as well as his side specials not doing damage due to their distance as well.

Spider-Man will be much more acrobatic and hard to hit.

Some of his moves will have two parts in that if you hit, he'll kick off you either into the air or onto the ground but both result in him being slightly away from you. For spacing... also to fit his Way of the Spider style of fighting.

I plan to re-animate his throws using the webs I have on his model, and I have a web ball graphic I wanna use with it later.  Though due to not knowing how to allow him to keep his air momentum while doing web ball in the air, I may only allow him to use it on the ground. Meaning I need to think of another neutral B special for the air.

===

New waits, new run/walks (admitadly, I took his run/walks from Snake since people complained about Mario's. Sorry but I didn't feel up to making custom walk/runs for him.) Brainstorming new taunts as well.

Here is a list of whats done and what isn't done:
Wait 1: Done
Wait 2: Brainstorming
Wait 3: Brainstorming
Walks: Done
Run/Dash: Done
Turn/TurnRun Etc. : Done
Falls: Keeping the same
Guards: Keeping the same.
Squats/Crawls: 50% Done. Giving his Wallcrawling for his crawl doesn't look good sorry to say. Watching him do it from the side is not a great angle.

Escape Air: Keeping the same
Escape Back: Done. A spider-man like springboard backflip
Escape Forward: Done (See preview gif)
Escape Down: Done/Keeping the same. I tweaked it so he didn't hop so far off screen.

Attack 11: Done
Attack 12: Done
Attack 13: Done

AttackDash: Brainstorming/Need ideas

Side Tilt: Done. Two parts. He does a spinning double fisted uppercut, if he connects and you press the button at the right time, he'll kick off you backwards, onto the ground and pop back up to his feet.

Down Tilt: Incomplete. Spider-Man will web in front of him and pull himself forward, with a chance of tripping those he hits. He'll slide a pretty decent length forward.

Up Tilt: Brainstorming

UpSmash: Done. It is now his previous Up-Throw (the flip kick)

Side Smash: Done. Two parts. He webs the ground and stretches back, jumps and lets the webs sling him forward. If he hits anyone, he'll kick of of them into the air.

Down Smash: Done. Spider-Man jumps high into the air, webs the ground and pulls himself back down to slam the ground really hard. Very good damage but predictable due to the hitbox coming out late. You'll have to time this one well to use effectively.

Up Air: Staying the same unless I get a better idea.

F Air: Staying the same.

Down Air: Staying the same.

Back Air: I want to change it but I have no ideas.

Side-Specials: Staying the same mechanically. But I'm adding -down- as a possible direction when using it in the air. I'm going to animate these to look more interesting. None of the new animations are complete.

Up Special: Ground is done. Air version will work exactly the same, but will look different.

Down Special: Keeping them both the same. (Spidey-Sense on the ground, and web swing in the air.) So they are complete.

Neutral Special: The original Web ball animations are still usable, but I'd like to use something different for the air special. Unless I see that most people don't mind the spamming of web ball in the air to air-stall.

Final Smash: Staying the same unless I can get a better idea.

D-Throw: Spidey kicks off his target, webs them, zips to them, kicks them away, webs them again, and zips them back to jump off their head.

B-Throw: Spidey webs his target, swings him around and then throws them.

F-Throw: Spidey jumps over his opponent after webbing them, then slams them to the ground with an overhead slam with his web, they bounce up, and he kicks them away.

U-Throw: Spidey does a backflip kick to send his target up, webs them back down, then does a vertical dropkick up... to send them flying again.

None of the throws have been animated yet.

Up-Taunt: Spidey webs up high,  and hangs upside down for a while.
Side Taunt: Debating on changing it, but I NEED to change it from the MvC taunt due to gfx glitches with Zelda. I want this as seemless as possible.
Down Taunt: Keeping that shrug.

Spider-Man is gonna be light and agile. He'll have some good kill moves but they will either leave him pretty open and punishable if he misses. Very good recovery offset by low power for most of his normals. He's the kind to get in and hit you and get out while keeping the momentum going and keeping you off balance.

The ONLY really bad thing about this new PSA is that you'll have to use the model provided.

HOWEVER! If you're like me, and have the Spider-Man texture pack from a while back, all you have to do is swap out the textures, and make a new pac/pcs. The only change to this model was the inclusion of two web strings and a web ball gfx. No bone edits to the main body so using the textures from the texture pack should work (except for with Noir Spider-Man)

Spider-Man is my favorite Super-Hero and I don't think his PSAs have done him enough justice.

Next after him will definitely be Wolverine v3 though. I've got a lot of his animations done as well, but I got the Spider-Man with the web strings, so that took prcedence.
