It's been a long time hasn't it? For those that haven't been paying attention to my tweets my drive and passion for smash has died and been dead for the past 4 months. And with that, my drive to do further Brawl modding has died as well. I honestly don't see myself continuing any further projects aside from Simon's new model.... Not sure what to do....
Might do an Action 29 style compilation of all my unreleased stuff which would include the most up to date versions of Gray Fox,Sora,Simon, my unreleased PSAs like Aiai and Solidus, the VR Mission Stage I never put out, the Monkey Island stage, and my old personal build of BrawlEx I made to test things. All Assets related to those including maya and max scenes and textures would be included too; would probably be a rather large DL. Concepts for things never started would probably be there too
Oh and I'll put in notes of bugs/unfinished stuff too.
It's been months since I opened anything smash mod related....... Does anyone here have experience with XNormal? I'm trying to follow the Xnormal part of this tut:
For some reason, Noesis screws up all the uvs of all equipment in MvC3 but not UMvC3 (or at least Ivory for Dante)
Was able to rip Ivory with all the correct (but flipped) uv points. Just need to export it with flipped uvs and I'm good to go. Along with ripping his other models.
Does anyone have the arc file names for all the characters? Trying to find Frank West..
Frank is 0009, an ID that doesn't exist in Vanilla Marvel 3. He was definitely a character meant to be in Vanilla Marvel 3 as his silhouette is in one of the promos.
I have all of the PS3 assets of that game, if it matters.
To be rigged on... Zelda. And then ported over Wario.
Why Zelda? Because of that skirt.
Why port over Wario? Because transformation.
The only problem I have is with the UV maps on his equipment (Ivory, Ebony, Rudra, Agni, Etc) which I can't seem to fix (all the UV points get condensed into one spot...) Trying to find a fix/proper models for them.
Where and how did you get that model? There's specific character models from UMVC3 I want but can't get because Noesis crashes when I try to load them. I really wanted Frank, Chun Li, and Iron Man....
That's Airman, and he has no eyes... I really think you should make his eyes separate objects so he can have Smash Ball eye models and textures separate from his body and thus save on file size.
Completely forgot about this guy for a while so I'm just gonna texture him now.
I would recommend making a new material and then importing your texture.
First click the object then right click -> Assign New Material. Then select Lambert. The Material should then be open on the attribute editor on the right side of the screen. Click the checkered box to the right of "color", then select file. Lastly, click the folder Icon and pick your texture.
If you want to edit UVs, then go to Window > UV Texture Editor.
Edit: Misread that. Check your materials in Maya and make new ones if needed.
Yeah. That's why I make a new scene for any significant progress I make. I have about 64 scenes for 1986 Simon and I'm still not done with him yet. I just make sure to toss out most of them when I'm done(Maya's Increment & Save option makes this easy).
Thanks for the tips, I will try fixing the unwanted blocky normals, but as for animating her eyes, I still dunno how to do it...
Fixing the blockiness isn't hard in most cases. If you're in Max, go to Editable Mesh or make an Edit Mesh, then pick all the elements and/or faces. Then scroll down to smoothing. Go to Clear All. Then click 1. Should soften all those edges.
If you're in Maya, then select all the faces and then go to Normals > Soften Edge.
Not all that hard, but if either of these fail, then you have double sided faces in play. On that note, anyone know how to Fix those with say, Zelda's dress? Softening the edges in either program produces undesirable results.
Not gonna lie, but those textures on Chrono don't fit Brawl. They look like the kind of textures that would be on a PS3/360 game that has more realistic characters.
Chrono's clothing should be textured to look like Ike's clothing or something.
Link, Roy, Marth, and Issac would make for good references too.

As I steadily improved my modelling skills, one thing I learned that unless you want to make a character shadow model, it's sometimes better to build a new model with less faces/verts with similar uvs because the optimizing methods in maya and max have a terrible habit of breaking symmetry and you won't have control over how it looks.
