1  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Do you need to test texture hacks before submitting them? And how, and for what? on: November 02, 2010, 06:19:38 PM
Hehe, ok. ^^
Hmm, I guess if the character works and is only recolored, he shouldn't cause any problems. Now those other ones where the character seems to be invisible or weird lines coming out of them, due to not correctly removing the body part or so, I need to test them out a bit more. ^^" The only thing that I know is, that they work for me.

You can grab, hit, throw, kill, roll around (shield), jump, duck, crawl and the other stuff with them. ^^

Hmm, good idea. ^^
Now that I think about it... I could look up older versions of the File Replacement Code or what that is called and try the characters on those too and see if they work.

Now to online gaming... I wouldn't really know with whom I could test it with (I would need somebody who could tell me if the character would be invisible and that guy would have to have the character, too (I believe)).

OK, I gonna load it up and... um... don't really have a clue what to do next? Should I just ask somebody to test it for/with me, write a topic? PM? Argh, too many questions. xD

Thanks for your help. ^^

OK I loaded the file(s) up, .pac and .pcs:

3  Help & Tutorials / Help / Do you need to test texture hacks before submitting them? [read-only] on: October 31, 2010, 05:16:07 PM
I was just thinking... if I would upload some texture hacks that work for me, but not for others, that would be bad...

I don't really know if there's a way to test them... except playing online against somebody for testing if they work online, or maybe have an old File Replacement code in the RSBE01.gct file.

Is there maybe a topic that states all the things you need to do before you upload something and how to test stuff to make sure it works? And all the things I have to test first to meet the standarts of this page?

For an example, I've "made" an character who is really invisible when I play her and play against her, with no freezes, and I thaught it would be kinda nice to have a character like that to take some pictures like...

a character holding "nothing",
a character floating because an invisible character is holding him,
getting hit by nothing,
effects when you hit "nothing" (invisible vs invisible),
and more.

Here's a video to that character. Works fine with me. Not in the invisble Zelda version though, when I roll around, my character gives out long lines and make the game freeze. =/ Oh and don't judge me on that video, I haven't played for several months. oO Tested yes, acutally played no. xD

I want to upload more than that but before I do, I just want to know what I need to know, so I'm allowed to load it up. ^^

Har har, no problem, I love helping out where I can. =D

And wow, you really must be a pro when it comes to brawl hacks (I should read the signatures the next time, it pretty much already states that xD)

Yeah, sure, no problem... hmm do you want the file where all the stages you create are in one color (STGEDIT_0.pac), or just a custom stage that is ready to play?

And I guess with opposite color you mean hmm... green -> purple? More like blue or so right?^^

Oh and, how does it come that everybody can draw but me? (signature)
Looks awesome. ^^ Curse my hands! xD

Edit: Well, as usuall, that message is too short for me, so I will add something to it. xD
How do you upload characters in here? I mean .pac .pcs files for everyone to see? I don't think someone wants this Samus... but I believe that everyone should share with each other. ^^

Well, I tried out Tcll's solution first and I will try this one out a bit longer, and than I'll try the solution from LordNOaH out and see how that works out. ^^

It seems that removing the background on the videos has improved! It seems that the character doesn't really glow when he's not blur, plus if I make it where it doesn't remove to much of the color, that the character looks pretty smooth. ^^ I will probably load up a video on YouTube just to be sure.

Removing the background on images seems to work pretty good, but I think I need more testing on that, because the character has sharp edges etc. when I resize the character though, he looks a lot better (from 100% to 50%).

Animated images... not tested yet. I'm having problems with Gimp, doesn't select the areas correct and PhotoShop needs QuickTime player to import video frames =/

I will solve this one though by myself.^^

Sorry that I'm currently not writing so much in this forum, it's just the deal about working nights and some things that I need to take care of.

Hmm, but if you guys want me to do something for you, just tell me. I think since you've answered my question, I could do something in return, just tell me what. ^^ I'm not so good in editing characters (.pac, .pcs,... files) I only know web development sort of and a bit about images, but I believe you guys know more in that stuff than I do. ^^

If somebody else has another suggestion or answer to my question, then please write it in here.
The more, the better!

Sorry about this long message again, it's a habit. ^^

PS: Once I've tested this, I will try out LordNOaH's solution for the camera angles and background. ^^

Edit: I've tested animated images (see my avatar) and also regular images a bit more. But I think that Meta Knight looks really, REALLY good when I remove the green background (I shrunk the image down to 50% in size)

I think I will try out much more characters whenever I got time for that (after I wrote more in this forum, seriously, I think 3 posts are definetly not enough)
If you want to, I could post some pictures in the section where all the images are, in case you want some. ^^
6  Help & Tutorials / Help / Problem with GREEN SCREEN/background, trying something out. on: October 27, 2010, 09:32:02 AM
Hi, I have this problem and I wonder if anyone can fix it... it's harder than I thaught.

I was wondering if it's possible to create a "green screen" where you could make the background transparent. By doing so, I could create transparent pictures, animated SSBB smilies, or videos where the character has a custom/different background etc.

Like this for an example ->

Why? Because I love testing out stuff and I'm always bored. xD

OK, I have recolored all custom stage parts including the background and it works... sort of.

Only problem is that the background gives the character a green glow, thus if I make green transparent, a part of the character will turn transparent/invisible as well. That animation above, for an example, could have been better if I wouldn't have had that green border, which I made gray, (which is why that character glows)

Here is a video, where you can see my problem in action.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu-2zi38Fbo" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu-2zi38Fbo</a>

By the way, I'm inexperienced when it comes to making videos. ^^"
Oh, and in the first 45 seconds is a test, so I can see if I can have a video playing behind another video. ^^

When the character zooms out, you can definetly see the problem.

So my question is:

Is it possible to remove the glow from a stage?
Or can you replace the green glow with... a black or white glow but still have a green background?
Or is it possible to remove the characters... background copying ability thingy? ^^
And is it possible to have a stage where everything is green even when you turn the camera? (with that I mean turn the camera more than 180 degree left/right/up/down)

I would be very happy if someone could solve this problem. In return, that person could/should ask me a favor or something else in return. ^^

PS: I took my time making everything as easy to understand as possible, because I'm known for being confusing and receiving more questions than answers. ^^

Oh, and I chose a random music, in case your wondering. I had no idea what to choose at that moment and I always edit longer messages because I make too many errors in spelling, sentence structure, etc.

I know, I know, I write way too much and I'm sorry for that, it's just a habit. ^^ If your wondering how I colorized the text like this, unstead of words like green I used Hex colors like #00ff00. Here is a small chart with 256 colors in case you want to try some out without spamming of course. ^^ I think there are 16,777,216 colors in Hex, RGB, etc.
