I've been loading Riivolution through Smash Stack because I'm afraid of installing any kind of unauthorized hacking stuff on my console. I'm afraid it will get screwed up and I will eventually kill my Wii and lose all my data. My SD card already got killed from using it with the file patch code, so I don't really trust this stuff so much anymore.

So I want to know if it's safe to use the "Install" feature on Riivo to install it onto my Wii. I have version 4.3U, or whatever the latest version is since I update whenever there updates. Will Riivo still work as a channel regardless of the version of my Wii? Will my Wii get bricked or screwed up in anyway? I just want it on my Wii so I don't have to use Smash Stack to load it anymore.

Hmmm... I don't know... Still paranoid about screwing up the Wii and voiding my warranty if I have to send it into shop.

Also, by custom patch you mean you edited your XML? I did that with mine too but not because it wasn't working it was because I wanted to replicate the Gecko set-up with folders like 'pf', 'codes', 'module, etc. in case I ever want to switch back.

yeah i edited my xml, codes work, sfx and thps work, and you can run up to ten brawl hack games. riivolution can be installed as a homebrew app if you dont want to install another thing to your wii's core.

I wonder why yours wasn't working -- mine did.

Oh well by the way you worded the last part I'm assuming you think I already have Homebrew as a channel? I have absolutely nothing unauthorized on my Wii as of now and never have, so that's why I'm afraid to start now. What happens if I update my Wii whilst having Riivo as a channel?

Also, can you make and use custom stages in Riivo? Because I heard it locks the SD card so I don't know if I can play custom stages that are on my SD card.

    ^ this

dont be afraid to download riivo or homebrew to the wii, the only thing you shud be scared of downgrading and menu replacing.

riivo is quite easy to download just run smash stack and you get the homebrew channel, then download the riivolution app and put it in your apps folder on your sd card.

Why is everyone talking about the HBC? Can't I just have Riivo as a channel in itself? I don't want or need Homebrew because I don't wish to hack anything other than Brawl.

Ok lol that's what I needed to know. Riivo would be the first unauthorized thing I would ever put onto my Wii. Still thinking about weather I should do it, though.

Well I installed Riivo to my Wii -- now my Wii is no longer straight-edge I guess you could say lol.

I'm glad I did it because it saves me from a long, annoying trip through normal, unhacked Brawl to get the its Stage Builder to run Smash Stack, and I got to remove Smash Stack as well. I thought I could use custom stages but no because Riivo locks the SD card, but I didn't think that would've not allowed me to play on custom stages. At least I can make them and save them to my Wii console, though. Why does Riivo lock the SD card, anyway?

Also, do I still need boot.elf?

Hmmm... I don't know... Still paranoid about screwing up the Wii and voiding my warranty if I have to send it into shop.

Your Wii's warranty would already be voided if you run ANY kind of Homebrew application on your Wii.  And of course, professionals will NOT repair your Wii at all if any traces of Homebrew are found in your Wii.

In other words, Nintendo will only repair your Wii if it hasn't been hacked.  Since you've been running Riivolution, don't expect Nintendo to help you with your Wii issues.

I can't just remove Riivo from my menu? Or they look further into the system or something even if I remove all my hacks?  And again, I don't have Homebrew just Riivo.

Yes, but riivolution is a homebrew program. And sence you installed it on your wii, you're pretty much screwed if nintendo sees that it was or is on there. However, you can remove the channel, but you'll have to search through all of the wii's menu's to make sure there aren't any traces of it.
