I've asked friends this question many times and many of them say "Use +R" or "Use -R" DVDs. However, I hear there's not a difference. Well if there was no difference, there would be no reason to have 2 different kinds, right?

So I'm trying to burn a texture/music hacked Brawl to a DL DVD, but before I get the DVD, I want to know which type is better for the purpose of burning Brawl (or any game for that matter).

(Also, I saw that it's possible to burn Brawl to a single layer DVD, but I hear you lose information regarding it so I don't know if it's a good idea).

Anyway, main question: Should I get a DVD+R or DVD-R?

If you burn it to a single layer, you lose SSE, I believe. Maybe the Masterpieces, too.

    I use +R.

    I use -R... LOL.

When you use single-layer discs, all you lose are the Masterpieces... You can still play through Subspace Emissary (matter of fact, ran through it twice with my siblings with the texture hacked characters), but it loses the CUT SCENES, replacing all cut scenes with the SSE opener (Mario VS. Kirby!). Common misconceived rumor. ;P

~For the record, if you want to be really accurate ["just in case"], I'd highly recommend DVD-Rs. I've heard some people have troubles with DVD+Rs... Have to take certain precautions or something rather when working with 'em... I don't know. All I know is DVD-R has been extremely basic for me. Simple Load Image, Burn, play.

I went ahead and got a stack of 10 Taiyo Yuden DVDs. I hear they're the best on the market and got the -R versions of them, so wish me luck.
