As of October 15, Nintendo has initiated a new error code. 20108.
According to Nintendo, what this error means is that there has been a temporary issue with the wifi connection which should go away after a few hours and if you are still experiencing such an error, it is advised to call Nintendo.
Another similar error that may be received while receiving 20108 is error 20103. If you try to connect to WFC using your current bypass codes, you will receive 20108. If you delete your game save file and use bypass codes with new ZZ/TT values, you will receive 20103.
These two codes indicate a mismatch to your real authorization data which apparently Nintendo is now able to detect.
Back to 20108- What this error code actually means is that Nintendo has banned the use of "Serial Number Changer/Bypass" codes to access WFC. As of now, those codes are now obsolete. They will not work. Even if you are using both MAC and SN codes, you will not be able to connect because the SN code prevents the MAC code from working...rather, if the SN code is detected, you will be prohibited to access WFC. Nothing to do with MAC code actually.
So? The solution and only solution as of now. To connect to WFC with MAC Changer code only. The SN codes are useless now. You CAN connect to WFC without using them.
If you use a MAC code, no SN code, and receive 20102 when connecting, it is because your auth data is banned. Ever since mdmwii found the method to permanently change your auth data, it has been advised to change it. SN codes have caused a bit of problems for users in the past, whether it'd be 20103 or 60000. By permanently changing your auth data, you will be avoiding any possible "SN/auth data" mismatch that can occur because you will not need to use the SN codes that rarely cause interference. Of course, if you used them to shield your real auth data, it was a wise thing to do but must I remind you again. As of now, they will not work. There is no protection anymore.
By the way. When "SN" and "auth data" are mentioned, in reality, the same thing is being spoken of. What SN codes do is temporarily, while you are loading through Gecko/Ocarina, change the last byte of your real auth data. The TT is a placeholder for whatever number you decide to use to shield your auth data.
What has been posted is to be true because I am fully unbanned (thanks Nintendo for unbanning me out of your own accord! )
and I plus a few others were not able to connect to WFC while we used the codes.
At first, I made several attempts. To sort out the "bad" code. In the end, I found that using the SN code did not allow me to connect. I could connect to WFC without any codes but could not with the SN code.
This is yet another of Nintendo's actions to stop hackers. It is not a ban!! You aren't banned. The SN codes are!
It is not affecting all hackers.....yet! So, those of you who have not experienced the error, good for you! You are either new hackers (1year > ) or haven't been fully banned.
The bad thing of all of this is that you will not be able to protect your auth data. By hacking you are taking a chance to have your auth data banned. If 20102 pops up just go back and change your auth data once more. You did it once. If you should ever have to, do it again.
MAC Changer/Bypass codes STILL work so use those for protection! Your MAC address is much more precious than your auth data!
A long explanation but I hope you understand now.
Steps:
- (optional- Some players have reformatted their Wii. I got rid of the error by not reformatting, and others didn't reformat either. All up to you to do or not)
- (optional- Change auth data if you are SN/AUTHDATA banned. Follow exactly what mdmwii does in his video. Reboot Wii)
- Delete your save file for the game you want to connect play online
- Make gct file without SN code, with MAC code
- (optional- Reset your Wii internet settings)
- Load game through Gecko OS
- Connect to WFC
If the error persists, delete all WFC save files and repeat all steps above.
