Title: Updated Stage Roster Expansion Code - PAT0 Editing functional now!
Post by: Eternal Yoshi on November 06, 2010, 02:53:12 PM
Oh snap. The Smash Sage Phantom Wings strikes again!

This post has the updated modset of Brawlbox.
PAT0 editing works, which means we can add icons.
However, the file size limit is very strict.

The tutorial is over here:

Hi everyone!!:bee:

I was feeling abnormally productive the other day - in a nostalgic sort of way - so I decided to perfect the Stage Roster Expansion code.

So without further ado. (and rest assured, there wasn't any to begin with.)

The code now allows up to 255 (untested mind you) custom stages. The only difference is that the number for the .pacs and .rels must be padded to two digits (1 becomes 01, 9 becomes 09 and whatnot) and that the numbers must be in hex.

Here's a new Stage Select Screen with 15 custom stages just so you can see where it's all going.

Now, before any of you ask, yes it is possible to create new tracklists, but the total number of songs you have between all the tracklists is constant. (unless you really want to mess with your save file.) And while it is possible to create additional tracklists by taking songs from other tracklists, that has the unfortunate repercussion of making some of your game's music unusable when you're not using codes. So as a result, I didn't build a code for adjusting the tracklists. (although you still have the MyMusic Modifier.)

Finally, (I guess I lied, the Stage Roster Expansion system hasn't quite perfected yet.) I have a personal request to the Brawl Lib Development team.

This would be it:
Code:
[B]PAT0[/B]

[B]Header:
[/B]char[4] PAT0
int Runtime Copy Range
int unk
int unk
int Pattern Table offset
int Texture File Table offset
int Palette File Table offset
int Runtime Texture Ptr Table offset
int Runtime Palette Ptr Table offset
int File Name Table offset
int pad
short unk //0x006F
short unk //0x0001
short Runtime Texture Ptr Table Count
short Runtime Palette Ptr Table Count
int pad

*Runtime Copy Range is the length of the Header,
 Entry Table, both String Offset Tables and the Runtime Ptr Tables.
 This is usually the address of the String Table, but sometimes
 there's a bit discarded before it as well...
**The amount of available space in the Runtime Tables
  MUST reflect their Counts (in entries of 32-bit integers).

[B]Pattern Table:[/B]
int Total Length
int Entry Index Count
int unk
int unk
int unk
Entry Indices

[B]Pattern Index:[/B]
int unk
int unk
int Name Offset (base=this)
int Entry Offset (base=Entry Table)

[B]Pattern:[/B]
int Name Offset (base=this)
bit[8][4] Flagsets
int Texture Table Offset(base=this)

[B]Flags:[/B]
0x1 Use Flagset
0x2 Inline Texture
0x4 Has Texture
0x8 Has Palette

*There are 8 Flagsets (one  32-bit int) that will each be attempted
 if their first bit is set - usually the first one is only used.
**When InlineTexture is set, Texture Table Offset becomes:
  short Texture Name Index
  short Palette Name Index

[B]Texture Table:[/B]
short Texture Count
short pad
int unk
Textures

[B]Texture:[/B]
float Key
short Texture File Index
short Palette File Index

[B]Texture File Table Entry:
[/B]int File Name offset(base=Texture File Table)

[B]Palette File Table Entry:[/B]
int File Name offset(base=Palette File Table)

Provide Brawlbox with support for the PAT0 files and you'll be able to add new stage icons in addition to the default ones using the Custom Stage Select Screen code.

And that's everything. The Stage Roster Expansion System is complete. I'll be here to answer questions or take bug reports for the weekend, but after that - poof! I'm gone.

Nice to see you back Kryal. Dant, good work as always. I'm going grocery shopping now.

OK. For those who are lazy or don't know what hex is, I included a SSS which maxes out both menus.

I turned off the Tracklist modifier since it was responsible for a bug where if you go back to the title screen and return to the main menu, the game would freeze.

Other than that, the tracklist modifier works great.

If you want to risk it, Try this:

The 68 is where the value that LL is in this code.

The highlighted is where the custom stages' tracklists are.
Edit them how you please.

Yes, it's meant to be used with maxed out SSS.

This part of post was copied from Gokuguy's thread so that anyone who needs appropriate .rels can DL his link instead of asking the same questions time and time again.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm kinda new here, & haven't learned much about this site in general.

When I first started SSBB hacks, everything was great, then came stage expansion, & I was clueless about the new rel files, for a time. I want to help prevent my issues from happening with others, as well as save them time. After finally understanding them, I decided to make a rar, full of these rel files, already made, for others. The rel files are easily named, & there is an easy guide for completely new people in with them. I hope I have made some headache or confusion disappear with this pack. Credit is also given in the readme to everyone that helped me get these set up.

Here is the download.

Awesome, and does it let you have total 255 or 15 extra stages?

The code adds 15, but in theory it should be able to allow 255.

The stage expansion code kinda confuses me. Does this version let you have custom SSS icons and such?

When BrawlBox is updated, you will be able to use Custom Icons for the extra stages.
As of now, don't bother with it.

Just try to get it to work in the game successfully.

When will we be able to input 255 extra? Also, does anyone know when BrawlBox update(This month or next month)? I can't wait. :D

Should be very soon, kyral's code for draggable bones will be added, as well as eternal yoshi's code for this, and I'm sure some other changes will have been made

This is my SSS.

There is a limit to how many stages can fit on a page so it is Ill advised to add more stages than my code.

I don't understand how the Tracklist modifier works. Has anybody tested it ?

It works but conflicts with the SSS for some reason.

I don't mind, I'd just want the SSE Multiplayer-Suitable stages. |D

And PAL gets yet again a great dose of /ignore.

That's still good though, pretty awesome. :>
Should be very soon, kyral's code for draggable bones will be added, as well as eternal yoshi's code for this, and I'm sure some other changes will have been made
I meant to quote this
When will we be able to input 255 extra? Also, does anyone know when BrawlBox update(This month or next month)? I can't wait. :D
I would guess this month

What do you mean by "conflict" ? And there are some things I don't understand in the code... What are exactly the values who have to replace ?

As of now, The SSS cannot handle 255 as exceeding the page limit will result in the game freezing when you get to the SSS.

I THINK the page limit is 39 per page as of now.

Eternal, my question to you is: If I use your code without modifying it, which stages will I be able to put on those slots? Is your code made for certain stages or overall?? 'Cause then it'd force me to learn to use .rel files, I never took the time since I followed this http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=254340 which didn't support .rel files.

You can put  ANY stage over the custom stage slots.
You need to get some stages and learn how to use .rel files.

Also, I'm here to confirm 2 things:

1. The maximum amount of stages the SSS can take per page before freezing out is 39.
I have that very same amount on the first page.

2. Phantom Wings PMed me the reason why the Tracklist modifier was conflicting with the code I have.
When you do a data byte count, you aren't supposed to include the executable
(a.k.a. E000000 8008000) in your data byte count.

Is there a way to get these codes to work with Riivolution? Whenever I have these on and launch riivolution, the screen goes black and doesn't go anywhere. I'm assuming it's because these codes are so big, but is there a way around that? (And I know it's just these codes.) Someone told me to use a gameconfig.txt but I have absolutely no idea how to use it or anything.

If you are using riivolution, put the gameconfig.txt in the same directory as your XML and copy to the root of the SD card. You also have to mod your XML to handle the stages.
Here's an example with stages 01 - 0F

Code:
		<file external="/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/module/st_custom01.rel" disc="/module/st_custom01.rel" create="true" />
<file external="/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/module/st_custom02.rel" disc="/module/st_custom02.rel" create="true" />
<file external="/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/module/st_custom03.rel" disc="/module/st_custom03.rel" create="true" />
<file external="/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/module/st_custom04.rel" disc="/module/st_custom04.rel" create="true" />
<file external="/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/module/st_custom05.rel" disc="/module/st_custom05.rel" create="true" />

I finally managed to undestand how the Music Modifier works, so I tested it with The first Stage Expansion Code. It works wonderfully with it :)
I'll soon try with the 2nd code...

Looks correct for 15 stages. Be sure to include more lines for more stages.

WHAT THE HELL.

First of all the FIRST 3 codes for this that Phantom Wings made made my game freeze when I lay a curser over a regular stage.

Now the new codes fixes that, but now when I select the added stages it makes a silent freeze.

I have ALL 3 codes on, and the stages that I downloaded from the Vault (Mewtwo2000's NEW STGCUSTOM.PAC package)

The codes I have put in are correct, also.

EDIT:
I just tested it with the GCT's given from Mewtwo2000 in the stage package.
Still freezes.

I have a question : in what order did you put the Custom stages in ?

I've tested with a stage placed as stgcustom00 and with the associated rel, and the game froze when I chose the first non-standard stage (Halberd icon, 3rd one on the second screen).

The problem does NOT come from my rels and stage naming. I've made 37 copies of those and changed their names so that I fill all the slots, and the stage works on all of them. Even on said Halberd icon.
So the issue can only be one related to the placing of the stages.

Since I intend on putting my custom stages in a special order for obvious reasons, mind giving the exact order of your SSS, EternalYoshi ? Thanks alot.  :)

In my maxed out SSS, the the halberd icon is the first custom stage.

They go in order to the right and to the next row
like this:

Big Blue, Hanenbow, STGCUSTOM01, STGCUSTOM02, STGCUSTOM03, STGCUSTOM04, STGCUSTOM05, STGCUSTOM06.....etc.

The custom stages start with STGCUSTOM01, not STGCUSTOM00.

You can change the icons by using the bottom part of the code

In that XML you have RSBE02.gct it should be RSBE01.gct

EDIT: I tried creating a new GCT with only the Stage Roster Expansion code and Custom SSS codes on, and it worked! I guess my problem was that I was trying to turn on too many codes at once.  :>.>palm:

THE EXACT SAME THIng HAPPPENED TO ME... it really annoyed me you can't have any other codes on because the wii is clearly a stupid device and it rather freeze and kill itself.... but annways.... to bad though because i liked having a custom Css. >.<

Ok so I have tried using the Track List Modifer code (along with EternalYoshi's code) and it did seem to have worked as I could check on the MyMusic Menu. Thing is that now my Custom stages are just not loading! They were working perfectly fine before I'd apply the Track List code but now I don't know what have gone wrong. Someone having the same problem?

Title: Re: Updated Stage Roster Expansion Code - Link to tutorial is in here!
Post by: Eternal Yoshi on January 18, 2011, 02:37:19 PM
The tracklist code is buggy.
Instead, use a much more stable code.

This is made by Oshtboy
Stage Dependent Song Loader
Code:
28708ceb 000000SS
4A000000 90180F06
14000076 FF00MMMM
E0000000 80008000

SS = Stage ID
Examples
40 = STGCUSTOM01
41 = STGCUSTOM02
42 = STGCUSTOM03

etc.

MMMM = Music ID

What this does is always play a song of your choice on a certain stage.
You can only use one of these per stage though.

That only happens with the tracklist modifier.

Why do people keep calling me Oshtboy? It's Oshtoby. OSH TOE BEE.  Not OH [censored] BOY.

Anywho, glad my code is working for people. Version 2 of it (which I posted on Smash Boards, and supported more than one song per stage) was a bad idea. It doesn't seem to work for anyone, even though I tested it. Version 1 (which is the version EternalYoshi poster earlier) seems to be working well. Glad people're getting use out of it. I know I am.

Actually I've tested the Version 2 just a couple of days ago and it is working perfectly fine. Not sure why others can't get it to work seeing how the only 'problem' I have faced so far is that even though my Custom stages now have their own Playlists I can't get to adjust how often the songs are played in a seperate way. Meaning that the adjustment I'm using on the Battlefield stage will be the same for all my Custom stages despite the different songs. Am I being clear enough? D:

Anyway sorry about the Oshtboy thing. And thank you for the code, it is really a great one^^
