A common rule: If you see a transparency (White+Gray Checkered boxes[GIMP & PS] , etc) in the image, it can be made transparent. I remember seeing a list but i'll get to that later. From TUTORIAL: Q: What can be made transparent? A: +1 files can NEVER be made transparent. +2 files can be made transparent. ---With ASH, color transparent parts magenta. Partial transparency is not supported. ---If you need varied transparency, learn to hex. Use on of the above manual guides. Normal files sometimes can be transparent. ---Depending on your program, just select and delete (if you see checkered boxes, congrats) or color the alpha channel black where wanted. ---(guess and check, Zelda can almost be fully transparent... Samus to a lesser extent... Mario fails) Title: Re: Transparent Textures Post by: mnsg on September 21, 2009, 03:37:41 PM I can give you a list of texture parts that can be transparent for you. It's incomplete, but this is what I know so far.
1: Eye iris and Final Smash eye textures can be transparent if they're not flat-eyed. 2: Link's sword. 3: Portions of Samus's legs. 4: The visor on Fox's/Falco's headgear. 5: Peach's/Zelda's dress. 6: Almost all of Ganondorf can be transparent. Only his hands and eye base can't be transparent. 7: Pit's wings. 8: Zero Suit Samus's ponytail. 9: Ike's cape. 10: Most +2 textures can have transparency, but only for certain areas. No, ALL of Ganon can be transparent. Title: Re: Transparent Textures Post by: VILE on September 22, 2009, 06:37:45 AM I shall correct you guys, +1 CAN be made transparent...
Ive done it... Also, make sure atleast 1 hard pixel is on the texture. Most of Sonic's head and body can be made transparent. Though its not very useful. I don't understand the +1 +2 thing. :( Most of the files I see don't have either. What does that mean? And the completely colored pixel, that means one pixel that's colored but the rest is deleted? Ex: I'm trying to make pikachu's tail transparent. Is that possible? Title: Re: Transparent Textures Post by: mnsg on October 09, 2009, 04:21:45 PM When you're using SmashBox, the textures have various formats. Depending on the format, the textures that you insert can have various changes to them.

Title: Re: Transparent Textures Post by: Smoom on October 10, 2009, 01:03:53 PM Thanks for the list mnsg, but Vile, I don't understand what you mean by 1 hard pixel. I filled up one pixel full with black and nothing happened.
Btw, I'm using Gimp. |
