Hey guys. Anyone know if I can use a USB flash drive as storage for Brawl files, and if so, which apps do I use? I think I've heard somewhere you can, I just don't want to put a bunch of hacks on my new 16 or 32 GB flash drive and it not work. Because I bought a replacement Wii, homebrewed it, and SD hacks fully work.

Sweet! I want DK's spinning split kick from Smash 64 to return! I did it, but you'll probably do it better!

It's a pack/custom edition of Brawl that I called obsession because the only default characters who are included are the ones I really like. There will be some custom BrawlEx characters who will fight like some of the excluded characters, however. I'm not releasing the current beta over here at the moment, as I've not had a chance to work on CSPs and Cosmetics, and I'm still working on rigging some of the characters I made. My internet avatar, Daveybird, is even going to be included, and I'm almost done with him. If you know a lot about him, and have been following me on sim racing and art sites, you'll know why he's a perfect fit. His primary color is blue, and his secondary colors are red and yellow.  He arrives to the battle in the sama car I drive in NASCAR Heat and Dirt Track Racing 2 (would use my rFactor car, but too high-poly), since my second-favorite sim racing game is NASCAR Heat, he loves doing the Falcon Punch, and says, "here comes the... HEAT!!" When he does the "show me your moves" taunt, he says, "you should sim race with me sometime," and when he does the "come on" taunt, he says, "Cardinal Power!" I, myself, will do the voice acting myself. Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2, and several others will be completely silent, since I can't get voice clips from them easily, like it's hard to find KFP2 voice clips of Shen without music or something going on in the background, even though some of his full sentences would make good win quotes and taunt phrases, and it would cost me a fortune to have Gary Oldman fly over here to voice act him for me personally, rotfl!! No screenshots yet, but there might be after awhile. Some characters are fan favorites from others, done by my comrades the Brawl hacking community, such as Knuckles, Dixie, Cloud, etc. Kirito from Sword Art Online is included, I found a low-poly but accurate model of him, and put him over Marth. He was a request from one of my friends.

Changes and Notes:

Fox and Falco will have their Smash 4 voice acting, and have their Smash 3 custom textures

Bowser will have his Bowser's Inside Story, and thus human voice-acted voice

Stone will have a similar voice to Bowser, and my Bowser 2K14 animation and PSA, while the actual Bowser will have no changes to his handling

Fox and Falco will have the custom PSAs I made for them, where they are more human-sized and -weighted. I might possibly make them have their Project M animations and PSAs with an increase in size and weight.

No Bowser Jr., and the Koopalings will fight on foot, and fight like Mario. I wished they did that in Smash 4. Would've turned out a lot better.

Known Issues So Far:

You cannot load Diddy and Dixie in the same match as far as I know, I know for sure you can't load all three included Kongs in the same match. I tried to start a match between me and the three main Kongs and it froze.

Dixie's eyes look scrambled and weird sometimes. Might have to do with the hack itself.

Some clones will have their default voice acting when facing certain characters, most notably their default counterpart, most notably the princesses. I just hope I don't have a fight between Wendy and Iggy and Wendy sounds like Iggy because all three of them are over Mario, lol! (I was originally going to have Iggy over Luigi since people were suggesting he'd be better over him than Mario, and I agreed, got the bones ready, the model rigged, and everything, but then I realised there was no BrawlEx rel module for Luigi, and was forced to make him over Mario with green fireballs and some of Luigi's standard animations.)

Sorry if I didn't include your favorite default character, I might make or find a clone I like of that absent character and use him/her. It is meant to be more of a "Daveybird's best of the best" mod than a general-puropse Smash Mod.

It'll probably be done this Summer or next Summer. I have to stop modding during the college year, because I was concentrated too much on modding last semester and got a D in class. If it doesn't get done this year, It might get done next year. As is the policy for my Madden 08 and possibly 04 mods, my Maximum Football mods, my rFactor Mods, my DTR2 mods, and my NASCAR Heat Mods. I figured out the problem why I was sucking in school and I think I know how to fix it.

I remember when SSBB was in development, and Nintendo Power still existed, they had a preview article for Brawl, and said something like, "Link in Brawl is based on his Twilight Princess design, where he can turn into a wolf. It is currently unknown if a lupine transformation is part of his new moveset." It wasn't, now it might be! :D

Yeah, you are supposed to format it to FAT32. If you still can't get it to work after that, I might try getting a new SD card. I've had this issue before, and I've been able to fix it by either formatting it or buying a new one.

I'm gonna get out a PayPal MyCash Card probably tomorrow so I can buy a few 2GB SD Cards for my Wii, sucks that I have to LetterBomb it again, since I factory reset it, and possibly another Wii, used from Super Mega Replay, a local Electronics resale store. That way, we can definitely determine if it's a console problem or an SD Card problem. Old Wiis at Super Mega Replay cost $49.99, not much for a previous-gen system. Nintendo pretty much prevented us from having any fun with the Wii Mini or hacking it. No SD Card support, no Internet support, I don't think they have GameCube controller slots either, so Brawl would probably suck on it IMO.

Update: Unfortunately, I had to buy a new Wii. I bought three 2GB SD Cards from Super Mega Replay yesterday, and they worked on my old laptop, which doesn't read my initial card anyomre, but it appears that my halfway-corrupt initial SD Card confused my original Wii, and now it doesn't think an SD Card is inserted anytime, even when it is. My new Wii reads SD Cards, I Smash Stacked it, and I'm back to hacking again! :D

Okay, I figured it out. The Knuckles I was using was either retooled for PM or used a different character as a base. I used one who was completely over Sonic and it worked. I can clone characters! Now I've just gotta get that SD Card or replacement Wii. Been testing on Dolphin. Slow as heck! I'll worry about cosmetics later, since they are so tedious and I want to get basic cloning down. I also put Mewtwo in Brawl. I tried PM Mewtwo, but he was incompatible, I had to do a pre-Project M Mewtwo designed for default Brawl.

Okay, so today, my old laptop randomly quit reading my SD Card, and my Wii did about a couple of hours later. My new laptop has no problem with it. I reformatted it. Is it supposed to be FAT32? The only thing I think might be the cause is that I broke the socket in my SD Card slot., which I don't think is the case, I never push too hard. Anyone got any suggestions?

Okay, so whenever I mess with the CSSRoster.dat, Brawl freezes when I click on the versus (Brawl) button. Now I had a hack from someone else that used Project M that used BrawlEX with no problem. Characters showed up, played fine for the most part, etc, but it's just in default Brawl, the issues arise. I was trying to convert those over to default Brawl, and thought maybe the issue was I needed to change some things before switching them to default Brawl. But nope, even if I put Mario as the only character in the CSS, it still freezes and hums. Please help, this is getting real frustrating!

Okay, the reason why the game froze was because I was using the PM menu data. I guess once I get BrawlEx working I'll have to manually add in all the characters. But now, I still have Mario as the only character on the CSS Roster, but all of the default characters show up. It seems like SSBB doesn't know I have BrawlEx. How do you make Brawl recognize it? I have a BrawlEx folder in my PF like I'm supposed to. So does anyone know what the problem is?

Well, I was acting dumb. I forgot to put in the CSS Expansion core files. That is very important!

Okay, I'm using original Brawl, and anytime I try to modify the character select screen, it freezes and hums when I click on the versus (Brawl) button. Even when I do something as simple as make Mario the only selectable character. What am I doing wrong?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I might do that sometime, too. My own Daveybird character is over Luigi right now, and he has his own voice. But it'd be badass to see Iggy throw some green fireballs.

And I still have to work on the rigging some, more like a 4/10, lol. :D

Iggy over Mario:

So you keep going at it, this topic lost track and turned into general discussion. The thing is WE ALL CARE, otherwise, why publish them on brawlvault? we share them, meaning we had other people in mind, otherwise we would just use them ourselves and never upload them.  I care about the quality of my hacks because I am sharing them, meaning I think other people would also like the quality and use them. So by using the vault, we are all indirectly showing that we care, at least, a little.

Yup. I just realized that. It was my mistake for uploading some of my hacks, thinking that a lot of people would use them. However, I was wrong, as many people pressured me to change. I'm still gonna post a few hacks every now and then, but only hacks which I think, from the knowledge I've gained here and in other internet gaming communities, that a lot of players would like to see, and not the personal ones, which people think are "Uncanny Valley" material, which I'm pretty much the only one on the internet who would like to see them.

And just hacks that I don't take too personally and would laugh if they were on FNBV.
