1  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Game isn't reading Common5_en.pac file changes on: December 27, 2012, 06:28:16 PM
I tried the original common5 file without the expansion code and it still crashed. The expansion code works fine without the common5 file, but it needs the file to actually add the custom stages, otherwise its just a bunch of random smash stage images in place of the extra stage slots.

I haven't added anything to the file except for what the instructions are for the expansion hack...so unless the expansion pack itself makes the file too big I don't think that's the problem..

Thank you both though. Smiley

Alright...I did that but now my game freezes anytime I go into brawl. It doesn't freeze when I remove the modified file in total, but it also freezes when the unmodified "common5.pac" is added...I downloaded the original file from this site's resources, it's why it originally had "_en" at the end. Is it just a bad file?

Hello! I'm currently trying to get the Stage Expansion Tutorial by drakemaster to work, and I'm having one big issue. I followed all the steps but I'm having trouble with the common5_en.pac file. The only issue with it is the game isn't reading the changes done to it and is ignoring the modified file in total.

It is reading texture hacks done to stages and the fighters along with other codes for the game. It only is ignoring the "System" folder (containing common5_en.pac). It may also be ignoring my "Module" folder, but I cannot be certain until I have this fixed. Is there a patch code I may be missing? Or is it something different in total? Everything should organized correctly...I checked a few different places to be sure.

Thank you for any and all help! I've been trying to figure out the issue myself but have had no luck.

I'm not sure if you need anymore information, but I'll add whatever I can down here:
- Using Gecko v. 1.9.3.1
- North American version of the game

If there's any more information you need please do ask.
