16  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Dragon Ball (Z) Levels on: July 27, 2011, 11:57:42 AM
I am in the process of trying to change Smashville to be a compilation of levels of a certain theme.

My favorite idea would be to have 2-4 DBZ levels ported over it using a .REL, but I can't find a single stage that has at least 2 DBZ level hacks for it, since I can only use one .REL file.

Anyone know offhand of any level that has at least 2 fairly good DB(Z) hacks?

If not, any suggestions? I'm also considering Sonic levels, if I can't find DragonBall levels.
17  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Music & SFX / Announcer Call Index on: July 26, 2011, 05:04:59 PM
I was wondering if there was somewhere I could download all the original announcer calls?
I kind of have an idea for a project, and need to use them.
18  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Music & SFX / Changing Character Origin on: July 26, 2011, 12:03:03 AM
I was wondering, is there a code to actually CHANGE what victory music type plays when you win?

I do not mean changing out the BRSTM files, but rather changing WHICH BRSTM plays when a character wins?

And example of this would be, lets say changing Donkey Kong to actually play SONIC'S victory theme when he wins, rather than changing his BRSTM file which actually changes Diddy's as well.

The uses are not limited to that, but that as an example. I was thinking/hoping there should be an Ocarina code or something that actually changes WHICH files loads for a certain character ID...

Anyone know or have any ideas?
19  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Brawl ReVampled Preview Topic on: July 25, 2011, 11:02:56 PM
A project over 2 years in the making, SSB Revamped, also known as "Project Revamped", is soon to make it's debut. It takes a mixture of popular and hacks from different artists, sometimes with a little additional tweaking, and creates a standard character hack selection that should allow every person to find their favorite flavor, while still maintaining fair game balance!

The included hacks will be listed on the site, along with the character's playstyle, on the roster of characters, found on my site. As there are too many people to actually set as collabs, I don't play to upload it in the BrawlVault. Instead, I plan to include FaceBook "Like" buttons for each hack, linked directly to the same counter as used on this site (hopefully encouraging more people to USE that function).
This way, for characters where one person made a PSA and someone else made all the models I use,
each of them can get their spot in the limelight, rather than just the few top collabs.

These are the approximate completion percentages of the Pre-Release Beta as currently stands.
These %'s may drop if I switch out a character, having to change CSPs and the such.

Menus: 0%
I plan on changing graphics for the menus, but this is about lowest on the priority list.

CSS: 70%
Almost all the CSPs are done, but the costume selection images (forget technical name)
still is missing a LARGE number of previews.

SSS: ?%
Have perhaps 35% of the current SSS's done,
but I may be adding the code to increase amount of levels later.

CBP: 15%
So far only have about 3 characters done,
one of which using same color for all CBPs.

Results Screen: 10%
So far, I believe I've only changed Shadow's.

Announcer Calls: 30%

Character Voices/Sounds: 80%
Most of the current sounds still work for the characters over them.
I'll likely put this at 95% when it's just things I can IMPROVE,
but not NEEDED to be changed.

Victory Themes: 50%

Stage Music: 70%

Stage Music Titles: 60%

I had to format my computer, so I lost the credits sheet. Sad
If you see your hack in it/on my site, please PM me the link to it!
I'll do my best to reinstate the credits and characters,
but it might take some time to find some of them again without help.

I'm not too concerned about credits on the .BRSTMs, because all it takes is putting it through a computer and looping it, all of about a 5 minute job at most.
But if it's yours and you want credit, PM me the link as well.

There are a couple videos of it online, but much has changes:
such as I replaced Luigi with Crash, and Hinata with Zero.
There's a roster of many who will be included on my site,
amd I'd like if anyone who takes a look at my roster,
and sees one without the PSA/Models listed,
to please let me know here or on my site,
so I can give proper credit.

I'm only doing this to create a standard for playing with hacks online,
and take no credit for anything but the coordinating/balancing of included hacks,
save for the handful I'm actually editing movesets (Yoda/Sephiroth).

Please post your thoughts, ideas.
I've actually been showcasing this many places over the past couple years,
including library gaming events, college gaming groups, comic conventions,
and even 3topia, a gaming bar & grill down here.

I'm hoping to have the beta release SD card files and disk image up for download,
possibly sometime in February, once I have more bugs out, and characters in.
Just wanted to post an update here, as it's not been updated for over a year.
20  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Programming / Brawl Revamped Version Stage Lineup on: July 25, 2011, 10:38:20 PM
Ok, If you haven't already checked, read my other Topics to see the Brawl Revamped project I'm working on.
You probably saw them before clicking this one.

Anyhow, This thread will be to vote for which changes a majority of players would prefer.
Unlike the Character Selections, I can choose any working stage here, without needing to worry about balance.

This time, I want to know what you want over Bridge of Elrin. Here are the options:
NES Themed Bridge of Elrin-
Thought it would be nice to have an 8-Bit theme in here somewhere. The 8-bit Link doesn't work right, so thought this may do it.

Northern Bridge of Eldin-
Thought it looked good, and still keeps the Zelda theme. It would be even better if someone could port Hyrule Castle into the BG.

Also, would anyone here be able to make .REL files to port some Final Destination levels over other ones?
PM me if interested!
21  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Programming / Brawl Revamped Version Character Lineup on: July 24, 2011, 01:24:40 PM
Which decision above do you think would interest more people into playing?
I'm attempting to get a good balance and variety of characters.

Please vote ASAP as I hope to get whichever further implemented soon!
Obviously, if I test one that turns out to be too glitchy, or one seems completely more balanced, that one will probably be chosen.
22  Help & Tutorials / Help / Question on CBPs on: July 09, 2011, 05:52:44 PM
Sorry if this is the wrong place, I couldn't find anywhere else to ask...

I was wondering where I could find the location of the textures of the Names under the CBPs?

I would really like a copy of a sample, someone said it was in Common5 or something, but I don't have that file handy to look thru it >_<

I really just want to change it for a few people, replacing the textures in ocarina, like I have for my CBPs so far.

Any help would be appreciated  AWESOME 2.0!
23  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Programming / SSBB Private Server on: July 09, 2011, 03:55:39 PM
I've already been running private servers for a couple games on my computer, and I was wondering if anyone knew how much framework would be involved in making a server emulator?

I know it would be pretty difficult probably to retrieve the files from the Nintendo server, considering their logs and stuff, you may end up getting banned for trying, and probably for nothing, considering any encryption they may have.

My thought is that someone who already knows most of the encoding for Brawl, or at least someone who knows enough to know where the networking protocol in the game is, may be able to emulate the encryption in a C++ or Java file.

The other part, which would be much easier in comparison probably, would be to  emulate the actual database that relays information sent to the server to the other clients.

Why have a Private Server for Brawl, you may ask?

Simple: Right now, if we don't want to get banned (and it's not common, but does happen), we have to play with friends only with their code. Even then, I've heard of a few people to get banned.

But just as much as that, is the problem that if we join a game, as most of you know, even with the bones being nearly original, if you use different moves (so anything other than a texture hack), you may end up lagging out the game.

The only remedy to fix this it would seem would be to have the SAME hacks on all the clients who is in a game. But other people may always be on and join.

I'm already working on a version of Brawl that has alot of Character changes and balances, some characters stronger, with others changes all together.

If I made a private server exclusive to this version of brawl, anybody with it could get on and organize, or wait, without need of going through all the trouble of choosing friend IDs.

I could host it on my computer that already runs servers, and it could end up as a partial brawl revival!  Happy Face

Please comment if you like the idea, with any thoughts, and anyone who knows anything about data packeting or where the networking part of the game is stored, and how it could be edited, please PM me!
24  Help & Tutorials / Help / Texture hacks on USB on: January 08, 2011, 10:37:11 PM
I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but I did a fullblown google search, and found nothing.

Can someone please tell me if and how I can add hacked characters/textures on here while loading SSBB off a Flash Drive? I don't have a working disc of it anymore, and don't want to buy another. Plus, the game works faster off the FD anyhow...

I saw the tutorial said to use Gecko, but I couldn't get one with USB support working, and it didn't describe well how to use/where to put RSBE01.gct

Someone please inform me what can be done here? I'm a complete noob with 3D sprite editing. Shoot, make that 3D game editing as a whole XP

Thanks!
