61  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: BrawlVault: Feedback and Updates on: December 02, 2015, 05:53:35 PM
Following the events of today with the ceasure of Project M, P:M submissions will not be approved for the upcoming days, until something is agreed upon.

We know some of the artists will want to release their own work and I'm sure they've had a hard enough time already. Consequently, we'll let them do that at their own pace for the next few weeks or so, and see where it all goes.

You can post PM-related material on the forums, as long as proper credit is given.

This topic is also relevant.

Oh wow, that's pretty awesome. I know a lot of our users will love the ability to customize and research those.

Much, much appreciated, good sir.

Welp, so much for that. What a most peculiar way to go. Kinda puts into perspective all of that P:M drama we've had on the boards over insignificant things, eh?

Hopefully people don't abandon hacking just because of that.

Guess it falls on us to outlive P:M and keep SSB hacking going... We're really gonna need to upgrade our server now.
64  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: November 11, 2015, 09:42:26 AM
Caliking and Large Leader can speak for themselves.
There really shouldn't be an entire page for a "I think this doesn't look good because X" comment, so cut that out.

Consistent avatars?
A staff member with a consistent avatar is the sure sign that they're dead. Like, true irl dead.
Which is why we're slowly losing hope of finding Jack H to renew our domain name. (That new hosting contract is coming soon, I swear. We already fixed the blog... mostly.)

Windhunter, don't apply to the staff if you plan to keep that avatar. You might end up endangering your life.
66  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Awards - Full List, Claims, Updates on: June 10, 2015, 10:31:29 AM
if you Staff members actually looked at posts before everyone else, like you should, you guys woulda seen his post.
Shame we haven't reached godhood yet. We're getting there, though!
Or we could inflict Moderated upon the entire board. That'd work too.
67  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Board Problems, Suggestions and Updates on: May 30, 2015, 11:17:25 AM
When will the blog be fixed? Been about a week now.
I'm sorry, but if we can't contact Jack to renew our hosting plan after a month or so, we can't contact him either to fix the blog. I'll ask Vyse to tell him whenever he can get a hold of him, but right now there's nothing much we can do, it seems. =/
68  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Board Problems, Suggestions and Updates on: May 30, 2015, 07:44:02 AM
They're not always bots.(For example, Miacis, Vyse, and a bunch of the other admins might recall when someone who works for Image Shack made a topic, and everyone was doubting that he was legit, and he made a thread in a board that didn't make sense for it.[I believe it was in "Introductions"; if not, it was in one of the "Welcome" boards])

Also, the threads that are still existent in the wrong spots, e.g. people asking for help in "Introductions", aren't bots.
Honestly, if it's a person's first few posts on the boards, I'm willing to let it slide if a topic in Introductions isn't 100% about introducing oneself. Most people will first talk about the reason they joined KCMM regardless, so it's not something I feel we should be more strict about.

Btw, anyone know how to "friend" other users on this forum? I have no clue how, and there are some people that I wanted to friend.

Also, anyone know where I would post a topic on multiple suggestions for both the board and the vault? Would I put it in "General Hacking"? "Off-Topic"? A giant spoiler with a custom title in this thread?
This here topic sounds like a good enough place.
69  Super Smash Bros. 4 Hacking / Discussion / Re: Smash 3DS Music Hacked on: May 03, 2015, 11:16:40 AM
This section was made 3 years late. And even now, a poll was made asking for people's opinion (Which would have been made 3 years ago hadn't Miacis procrastinated a response 3 years), and this is the result. (Yes, I'm aware I said in the Poll thread "almost a year", but that's sadly not the case).

Okay, no, please stop. You've already posted about me being more and more "late" since we've made this section and there's only so much dead horse beating I'm willing to take about this.

Three years ago, we were arguing about what to even do with the family thread. Three years ago, all we knew was that "a new Smash is coming up some day." Even if you did ask me anything about making a Smash section back then (I honestly can't remember), and if I didn't shoot it down immediately, I probably should have. There was legit nothing to discuss about Sm4sh until it came out except for the scarce news we were getting fed, and mostly a whole lot of speculation related to said news. The "specific discussions" you mention didn't really occur until quite recently.

Yes, I should have made that section 6 months ago when the game came out. No, I didn't, because my life's been kinda [censored] lately, and I've been dedicating less time to this community. I'll take the blame. I was late 6 months, and admitted it in a sticky topic for nya's sake.

Now can we move on from this and stop bickering about who's ruining Smash topics? Because here's an idea: maybe the reason this section is not as active as before is because it's been taken out of D&C, which is always buzzing with activity. Same [censored] happened with srs discussions, and it slowly grew with time. The only sections we've made in the recent years that became very active right from the start were the ones that were entirely new fields, like say Model Hacking. Or the :>.>: forum.
70  Super Smash Bros. 4 Hacking / Discussion / Re: Smash 3DS Music Hacked on: April 30, 2015, 06:04:43 PM
What happened is I legit wasn't expecting people to hack Smash 4 so darn fast. That board description was mostly just for the sake of keeping away SSB64/SSBM/SSBB discussions that should stay in GH, where they've always been.

Gonna change the description to fit that new development, then.
71  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Portraits, Menus, (etc...) / Re: The God Thread: Taking Requests on: April 19, 2015, 08:58:58 AM
now this i wanna see. how can you take a crappy render and make it good?

Is that a challenge I read?

Also it's not a crappy render, it's an ingame CG.
72  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Board Problems, Suggestions and Updates on: April 01, 2015, 06:28:34 PM
I hit the admin button and a picture of a wheel on a stool popped up.

Alrighty then
It's not a picture, you can click it to make it spin.

That's how we do admin things by the way it takes a lot of training.
73  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: The Real Reason the Community is Dying. on: March 25, 2015, 07:04:29 PM
Good! Now can we cease to bash each other over criticism?

Im running out of metaphors.
Brawl Hacking is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get...

Oh god, this one was [censored]ty-recolor-flavored.
74  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: The Real Reason the Community is Dying. on: March 25, 2015, 05:38:41 PM
It should be the Kiss Ass badge... thats all you really need to do here to get it around here, since real critics are mean bullies.
Well, the "Constructive" badge was originally created to experiment with nomination awards, mostly out of user request. The people around at the time suddenly nominated a truckload of people who were following their threads, then nobody else has been nominated in the past... two years?

There's a reason we don't do nomination awards anymore. (Not disagreeing on your main idea, though. That badge indeed doesn't mean much anything.)

Then offer critiques, according to the dictionary definition, and the synonyms of it, as opposed to your definition that doesn't answer the "how". It's not that complicated. All I'm asking is for you guys to just be descriptive in your criticisms, so that people can actually be helped.
The only person who can give you the "criticism" you expect is yourself.

You and only you should know how to fix your productions. You're the maker, not the public. The public will tell you what is wrong, and very vaguely. Not how to fix it. You colleagues might help on the how, but that's not called criticism anymore then, it's called cooperation.

We're a brawl modding community and Brawl has been succeeded by Smash 4. No we're not going to be completely burn out but we've definitely already peaked. Don't expect any huge surpluss of new users or anything like that. This is pretty much it give or a take a few new users in the future.
Everyday there is atleast one new user who uploaded their 1st mod on the vault. Its just that most of them don't make the cut due to them breaking many many rules.

And judging by various comments, people are returning back to PM/Melee and the occasional 64 and Brawl. I gave comp smash 4 a shot, I feel like its a megaman, Diddy, and Jigglypuff fest. I rage too much on that game more than other smash games.

Oh yeah, melee. Still quite popular after two games later right? Problaby the same happens to modded vBrawl.

And this is a double words of wisdom combo.
75  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: The Real Reason the Community is Dying. on: March 12, 2015, 07:18:57 AM
We're a website who receives massive traffic (and the occasional DDoS), yet we essentially have no ad revenue whatsoever, so our meager hosting plan isn't exactly keeping up with the number of visits we get. Chances are we'll need to spend about 5 times more if we want to keep the website stable, and even though we don't exactly mind spending some of our own cash, in this case we're really gonna need a steady money flow to keep the place afloat.

So yeah, at the moment, we're trying to come up with exactly what kind of ads we want, where, how often, and with which formula (Google AdSense, Project Wonderful, or a mix of both). Thing is, none of us knows much about advertising, and how much would be enough, so progress is very slow.

If memory serves, our next hosting contract should start next month. Thanks to the most gracious donations we've recently received, we should be able to get a much better plan for this year. What comes after is still a bit uncertain.
