1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Problems with my Hacks on: June 23, 2013, 04:51:43 PM
I've been constantly asked about my hacks, and how they've been blocked on Mediafire for violation and the like. Trust me guys, no need to keep telling me, I already know.

Here's the deal, right now, I have crappy. slow, limited use internet. How I got anything done on it in the past is a miracle to me, but I digress. The point is, right now, I can't afford to upload everything I've ever done to Dropbox, then go through and change all of the links.

HOWEVER, there is a solution coming. When that will be, I have no idea. We've already signed up for a local internet provider, which should hopefully be faster, and it's unlimited. So, as soon as that gets installed--god knows when that will be though--I will go through and fix everything.

My apologies for the inconveniences. If you're looking for something from my vault, make a list, sticky note it to your computer, or whatever you do to help you remember things, because this is literally going to happen at a random time.

(I'm also as frustrated as you guys since we signed on for it like two weeks ago and they still haven't come out yet)
2  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Fun Zelda Model Fact on: April 06, 2013, 01:21:52 AM
Right. So awhile ago I asked if anyone could rig Brawl Zelda for Gary's Mod. That request is still open, but I've made a very amusing discovery in my retexturing of the Twilight Princess model (universally used by most)

So for you old school folks that did texture hacks, did you ever notice those parts on Zelda's Texture A file that just didn't make sense? Like what appeared to be her hair surrounding a waist ornament? Or that seemingly useless ornament by her hair in the upper left?

Well, after about an hour of trying to touch them up manually, a part of me said "Wait these look like the brawl texture maps. Let's see if this works." To my awe and borderline horror, when I pasted in the right side of Zelda's Texture A, everything matched up perfectly. I looked between the two images, and sure enough, The Brawl textures were literally done over the Twilight Princess textures.. All of the random elements that seem to do nothing are actually leftovers of the Twilight Princess sheet.

However, I also discovered that in their haste, Nintendo made a fatal error. Brawl Zelda's model is frankly Twilight Princess Zelda with a bit of spit and polish, straps on her boots, a new face, and a pair of legs. However, when they were mapping the texture files, the attatchments for Zelda's waist ornaments were covered by the hair, which went unnoticed. Hence why if there's a red head Zelda texture, the ornament attatchments also turn red.

It's the little things. If you want proof, I can post images tomorrow.
3  Help & Tutorials / Help / Not really a hack problem, but similar. on: March 15, 2013, 01:31:06 PM
So I know a lot of people have probably been asking around about getting Brawl mods into Gmod. Honestly, I am too.

My main issue is that there aren't any good Zelda models out there, and the one or two I have are just...bleh. The official Twilight Princess Zelda has something wrong with her maps or something and she appears dark even in the sunniest of maps.

Does anyone think they can rig up a Zelda ragdoll for me? And if not, could you at least point me to a tutorial so I could try and do it myself?
4  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Majora's Mad Model Imports :Midna In Progress: on: October 24, 2011, 10:34:07 AM
This is just going to kind of be for my model imports, assuming I learn how to do it. I've got Twili Midna prepped for rigging, though I'm not certain how I'm going to do it. More updates to come.
5  Help & Tutorials / Help / Hyrule Castle Model on: August 19, 2011, 08:33:54 PM
So for the past three months I've been looking for a Hyrule Castle model from Twilight Princess (Wii) for my animation project, and I can't for the life of me seem to find one. I've searched high and low for one, and I've still been unsuccessful. I'm getting very irritated very quickly with this, and my patirence is running thin.

Could someone please help me find this model? Rip it, find it, I don't care, I just need it. Please?
6  Help & Tutorials / Help / .SWF to something ueful converter? on: July 25, 2011, 02:26:10 PM
so in order to finish the hacking tutorial videos I've made, I need to change them from .swfs to something else like .avi or something, just so i can put them together in Movie Maker, one to compress their size, two to put them together into the desired parts.

I found one before, but I have to sit through the entire video, then stop it at the very end so it doesn't loop, then I have to wait for the conversion process. It's...inefficient.

Does anyone know of a more efficent way of converting them?
7  Help & Tutorials / Help / Crashed and Burnt on: June 21, 2011, 10:04:20 PM
So about twenty minutes ago, my SD Card crashed on me, and I lost EVERYTHING. I have a good deal of it backed up on my computer, but hacks I didn't. So I need your help filling in the gaps.

Many characters I had actually didn't have hacks on any of their slots. A few (such as the Zelda cast) were full. So here's what I want you to do. Everyone pool in at least one hack and let's make a whole "Cream of the Crop" list for the game.

Go.
8  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Portraits, Menus, (etc...) / Black Boo/Majora's Perfect CSPs Update 5/12: Sonic fixes! on: May 09, 2011, 08:17:01 PM
Yeah, I said I was going to take a break from hacks, but I wanted to give making perfect CSPs a shot. Not as hard as one would think. Of course, I'm no SJS, but I'm doing my best. I finished Sonic ans I've fixed some of the white spots on the Zeldas. Not sure if I like Sonic's shading, but whatever.

9  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Sound Effect replacement in Gecko theory on: February 27, 2011, 02:54:58 PM
So I downloaded BY's Riivolution "hybrid" that allows you to use the Gecko layout for your SD Card (X:private/wii/app/rsbe/pf/fighter/zelda) so that Riivolution is easier to use. I noticed in the Readme that you shouldn't use the file Patch code.

So I had a theory. Note that it's only a theory, and I have no idea how Riivolution is programmed.

It appears to me as if Riivolution has it's own file patch code that allows for Sound Effects editing, that apparently the file Patch code used by Gecko (which was made by PhantomWings) does not. So, what if PhantomWings updated the file patch code, or made a new code to allow Sound Effect replacement on Gecko? That would technicaloly render Riivolution obsolete, because Gecko would be able to do just about everything that Riivolution does, plus snapshots and replays.

It's a thought. SFX editing is a relatively new process, so PhantomWings may or may not be working on a code already.
10  Help & Tutorials / Help / Finding the .brsar file on: January 31, 2011, 10:12:00 PM
Yeah I want to try SFX editing, but I can't find that .brsar file you need to do it. I hear it's really big, so I can't get it here at home, and my last oppertunity to get it with fast internet is tomorrow
11  Help & Tutorials / Help / Looking for something.... on: December 27, 2010, 12:27:22 PM
So right now I'm looking for that "Small Peach" size mod that had been posted on brawlvault. It made her a little shorter than Mario, and I'm in desperate need of it right now. Never you mind why I need it, I just do.

Perhaps if one of you has downloaded it, could you post a mediafire link or something?
12  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Thinking outside the (Brawl)Box, a message to KCMM hackers on: December 25, 2010, 10:07:14 PM
Hello KCMM. This is Black Boo, or "The guy that does all the Zelda hacks." This topic is a bit of a public service announcement to the hackers here.

What I want to talk about is hacks and their...creativity. Yes, their creativity. I'm noticing that the creativity in BrawlVault is reaching a frightening low. Why you say? Well, isn't the fact that just the other day, there were three Shadow hacks on the top downloads per day list proof enough?

Another thing, besides the multiples of hacks out there that's diminishing the creativity here is simple recolors. Now I realize that for some members, vertex editing is difficult. But really, if you're going to do a recolor, don't do something that's been done already, and if it hasn't been done, make it original. I'd hate to point out a specific hack, but the Black and Gold ones come to mind. The BnG Peach was good, but the BnG Zelda...not so much.

besides, that's what the vertex request forums are for. If you want to make a hack and be able to publish it, ask around the forum for an edited model, but not an edited texture, and say that you're going to release it yourself, but don't forget to give credit.

Although I suppose that really doesn't matter since a lot of people constantly ignore request threads. True I can understand that a lot of them are rather far fetched, but if you're out of ideas and in a slump, give them a look, and see if you can't find something manageable. Lend a hand, make a fellow hacker's dream come true.

Lastly, in the creativity department, is ORIGINAL IDEAS. We already have at least twenty or thirty Shadow hacks floating about, same with Mewtwos and Roys. True, you might have an original idea, but you don't have the thought process to pull it off. If you do, and is often times my case, sit back, relax, and think. Just think on how you can create the hack that you desire. It took me about a week of planning for Queen Ambi.

The real key to this is inginuity. You need to look at what you have to work with, and then say "Okay, how are we going to make this work? This was the case for my (still work in progress) Midna, though I'm still having patching issues with her. Since she's not released, she'll be the perfect example. Just...don't steal my ideas and not give me credit, alright?

Look here. The often neglected bow on the back of her head. I made it ouf ot her earrings.

Her cloak sleeves, made from the verts just above the elbow.

This is a key tip. Go the extra mile! If it's for the sake of making a character actually look like themselves, about an extra hour of work is worth it, don't you think?

But what if you were working on a hack, and someone else has already finished it? Didn't I say earlier that you should be original? Yes, I did. But if your hack was in production, and you believe that you can make the hack, dare I say it and offend someone, better than the other one that's up right now, then, by Jove, do it! That's what I did with Toon Zelda.

A last minor point I'm going to address is anime based hacks. They're out there folks. And quite frankly, some of them are repulsive. Trust me, I've spent days at a time just perusing BrawlVault, and I have come across some not so pretty sights. Do we all remember that Nami that looked like Weegee? Yeah, that'a a prime example. So all in all, cut back on the anime. Some people might know who the character is, most of us don't.

I thak you for the time that you've taken to read this post, and have a happy remainder of your holiday season.
13  Help & Tutorials / Help / Brawl hacks in Garry's Mod on: December 21, 2010, 08:37:50 PM
Yeah, so me and two friends are trying to make a Gmod movie, but we're having some trouble with a few things. One is that we want Saria and other hacked characters to appear, but the only model we have is her OoT model, which sucks and doesn't blend. So we were going to see about putting in my Saria hack that I made (and it's my most popular hack O.o). Only thing is, we don't know how.

My thoughts are that if the Zelda and Link models that are out there were taken from Brawl .pacs, then you should, in theory, be able to do the same thing to hacked .pacs. The only thing we really don't know is how to o it.

Help a brother out and get back to me, okay?
14  Help & Tutorials / Help / Friggin Triple Patches on: November 17, 2010, 08:37:33 PM
Okay, I've been getting some seriously mixed replies to my questions about triple patching, and unfortunately, a lot of my hacks need it to be finished.

I asked DrPanda, and he told me that all it is is just double patching the model over and over.

I read BigSharkZ's tutorial, and I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Could someone maybe makie a tutorial, PREFFERABLY WITH PICTURES? Pictures are a big help, I think we can all agree on that, so it would be nice if we could get a nice detailed guide with screenshots of what we're supposed to click or where we're supposed to look.
15  Help & Tutorials / Help / File Patch code not working at all on: October 27, 2010, 02:34:50 PM
Okay, so a few days ago I was over at my friend's house. Before I left, we were gonna play brawl. Well, the read only switch on my SD card came off, and the card was stcuk in read only mode. We tried to use it in the Wii, and only a few codes worked. We quit out of the game, shut off the wii, and I put the SD card in my computer. I checked everyting, and nothing was wrong. So we put it back in the wii and booted it up again. Thsi time NOTHING worked. No music, no textures, no stages, nothing. The only thing that's "working" is the extra icons on the CSS.

I backed up all my files from my SD card. I found an empty card and put all of the files that I backed up on there. Still nothing.

All of this happened when I tried to put that "Nude Final Breastination" stage on my SD card for a couple of laughs over at my buddy's. And YES I did take the stage off of my SD card.

Could someone PLEASE tell me what's going on?
