heres how hackless wii works

you take the stage builder method of installing homebrew, but INSTEAD of having the homebrew installer as the thing to load, we put either gecko, projectM".exe", or riivolution, these are ALL hackless wii loadable homebrew applications

what dictates the app that hackless wii loads?

the app's BOOT.ELF being at the root of your SD card

when they say homebrew, they mean, the set WITHOUT the stage builder thing to load it (meaning you MUST have homebrew channel installed to load ANY (pm, gecko, riivolution))
So if I downloaded the Homebrew or the Gecko version and used the Homebrew Channel, I would use Gecko or Riivolution and it wouldn't matter which one? They would both be considered the hacked way of loading P:M?

hackless wii set is limited to 2 GB because the hackless set depends on brawl using an SD card unmodde to even load the launched and

brawl does not support cards bigger than 2GB
So if I were to use the version either for Gecko or Homebrew (When they say Homebrew, they mean Riivolution, right?), I could use a larger card?

Does any version of P:M (no homebrew, homebrew, or gecko) support the use of an SD card larger than 2 GB? I know on the website they said that it had to be equal to or less, but I thought I had heard something about being able to use a larger card. Does anybody know anything about that?

How do you get recolors to work for a Mr. Game & Watch hack? Obviously CSP's work but when I put recolors in the gamewatch folder, they're all the same original color. There has to be a way since Nintendo did it. I'm just wondering if anybody here knows that way.

I dunno.

Though it should work, because I recall adding some PSAs made by Amarythe and Kitsu, I deleted all their songs to add mine, and I even added some other SFX so... yea...
I think it might be items, since some hacks that are made for P:M or work for it, come with SFX. Plus, adding in your own music is about the easiest thing to do in Brawl hacking, I don't think that it should be a problem in Project: M.

Oh well. I'm going to go try my theory. Thanks for all your help! (I might be back...)

Ok, so SFX and custom music works fine! I haven't tested items yet. I'll probably do that tomorrow.

Question: Besides using Sawndz (which is currently giving me problems), is there a way to change the victory themes and/or announcer calls? Could it be as simple as dropping in the corresponding .brsar file into the "sounds" folder and renaming it accordingly? Like if I wanted to replace Snake's victory theme, I would put in the .brsar file and name it Z46?

SD Card issues? Did you try to format it?
I'll try that, but that wouldn't explain why it worked before I put that particular hack on it.

Nothing. Same exact result.

Ok, so I formatted the SD and put on Project: M without any other extra mods, and then it worked. So it's not a card error.

So my question now is, does anybody know if P:M supports adding extra SFX, Music, or Items? I'm using the Non-Homebrew version because I had to delete HB off my Wii.

I've just recently switched to Project: M (because it works) and everything was going perfectly fine until a couple days ago when I was downloading hacks and downloaded the Shadow over Mr. Game & Watch hack. It was the only one that required me to use a code (something in which I have found I suck at writing...) and a .rel file. I did what I could with the code and placed the provided .rel file in the module folder. Then when I went to test it, it froze! Right at the strap loading screen!

So thinking that it had to have been the Shadow over G&M hack, I immediately went back to my computer and took off the the .pac/.pcs, .rel files, and the code. Guess what? It still didn't work! Same exact spot.

This is the only time when I have had Project: M not work. (Besides it freezing because of other characters, but I took care of those.) If anybody could enlighten me as to why it's not working, I would be most appreciative.

Is there a way to disable/avoid/stop using a post merge? It just gets kind of annoying when I'm trying to make a separate point and if somebody reads it, it just looks like I forgot to add something in when I made the original comment. (Plus not everybody reads post merges...)

It's not the end of the world. We can tell a strange / accidental challenged report from any other one. Now, if you "accidentally" do it multiple times on reports that clearly are legitimate then we'll take further action.
If I may make a suggestion: I think that it would be better that if you want to challenge a report, that you should give a valid reason for it to be challenged. Similar to giving a valid report. Just a thought.

It's not as if you could hover over it and see the description for what the button does. It's not as if you could do that all.
Dude, some people take actions before thinking it through. It's completely understandable. Everyone does it.

With regard to challenging reports, I think there should be some sort of dialog box that comes up asking if you're sure you want to challenge the report and perhaps an explanation as to why you're challenging it. The reason I'm suggesting this is because my tired self clicked on the exclamation point without knowing what it did and I ended up accidentally challenging the report of a BrawlVault Staff member -_-
Heh. I did the same thing... Glad to see I'm not the only one. Tongue

Thank you for clearing that up.
Anytime. Smiley

Could you give me a link to download them, I know that the game won't dump itself into my SD card Its just that I've looked EVERYWHERE and no one gives information on how to acquire the fighter folder, all tutorials assume you have it.
There is no direct download link. To "acquire" the fighter folder, you click on "New Folder" on your computer. You then make the folder with the appropriate character's "game name" (which are stated on the first page of this forum), and place the file(s) associated with that character in it. The hacks are located right here on the Brawl Vault.

Ah, I think you mistook my meaning. By "anti-Sonic" I mean his design is basically a Sonic clone with a dark attitude. Kind of like Link and Dark Link, only... more shamelessly convenient as a plot device.
Ah. Yes. That makes more sense. I agree.
They were trying to give the game a mature atmosphere. The game was developed by SEGA's now disbanded American division.
Mmm. I wonder: if Sega remade the game, without all the guns and vehicles, and just improved the graphics and gameplay (and the multiplayer), do you think that it would be a better game? Just a thought.
Haha, no problem. Feedback is really important, so I'm always open to people's suggestions.
I know. It's just that so many people are like:

"Oh! I don't like Shadow!"
Well ok. Why?
"I don't know. I just don't! ... So there!"

Or they give a really [censored]ty reason. You have not only given a valid reason, but also valid evidence to back it up. I really appreciate that.
Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

Standard Mega Man had the biggest influence on both Nintendo and the series in general. ...Mega Man X is a different person, right? If that's the case, I couldn't go with X because retro Mega Man is technically the main, main character of the franchise.

Truth be told, I actually prefer X's design. The trouble is, this project isn't necessarily about what I want, it's about following an established template put forth by the developers of each franchise.
Yes Megaman X is a different person (robot). Correct if I'm wrong, but I think his storyline takes places 100 years after Megaman's.

While yes, Megaman is technically the main character of the franchise, I do think that X is a better character overall. Then again, that's coming from a guy who grew up playing the MMX series and hated MM because he could never beat the game. Tongue lol

In the words of Egoraptor (Sequelitis): Though Megaman was a good series, all it basically was, was jump and shoot.

And yes, I agree, I like X's style better. Especially his armor upgrades...

"... it's about following an established template put forth by the developers of each franchise." That sentence amazing. That should be part of your project's description. No joke. I like it.
45  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Re: Super Smash Bros. All Stars (Return of Ganon! [41.67%]) on: June 01, 2014, 01:56:58 PM
It's not that I don't like Snake or Mega Man or anything like that (although I care little for Sonic). The problem is that Nintendo has such a vast amount of characters, and my priority is to make this game as purely "Nintendo" as possible.

However, you can be sure that some of the choices I've made for the roster are basically impossible unless I get a skilled team (modelers especially) organized. So there's some hope for third party characters like Snake, Sonic, Mega Man, Ryu, Lloyd Irving, Dragon Warrior, etc. I suppose it was wrong of me to say the 3rd party characters will be gone, I'm just saying that ideally that's what I'm looking to do.

And before anybody asks, Pac-Man, Cloud, Sora, Goku and Naruto are out of the question.

As far as Shadow is concerned, there are some big problems.
1) Much like Sakurai, I'd only permit one 3rd party character per franchise.
2) Even if I broke my rule and allowed two Sonic characters, Tails would take priority over Shadow. Easily.
3) Even if I broke my rule twice and allowed three Sonic characters, Knuckles would be the third choice.
4) I don't care for Shadow as a character. I consider him an extremely generic ("anti-Sonic") character; his design concept (guns and motorcycles) was clearly meant to pander to American stereotypes, and it crushed a good deal of the originality and charm the Sonic series had when it first began.
5) Shadow's game is really, really bad.
6) Shadow the Pinhog. lol
As far as your list is concerned I would agree that Tails and Knuckles would have to come first seeing as they've been around a lot longer than Shadow.

Yes, I agree that he is completely "anti-Sonic", but I will say that that's one of his best traits. It makes him a better rival than Knuckles or (normal) Metal Sonic or even Eggman (yes, I did just say that). Not only can Shadow match Sonic's abilities, but he can also exceed them. But what made it such a good rivalry is that both of them could outmatch the other at different times.

As far as his weapon choices, eh, I would say that the whole guns and motorcycles thing was purely Sega trying to make him more I don't know, relatable? Human? Whatever it was, it was a bad idea. Yes, his game was pretty bad even coming from a playability standpoint, but one thing that Sega has never (in my opinion) messed up on was the storyline. Shadow's backstories have always been good. (That's my same argument on STH:06. The game sucked but the storyline was great. Tongue)

I have always preferred Shadow solely using Chaos Energy for attacks. In my opinion, SA2 was the best one he was in. It was his intro, and a well made one at that! So if by chance you were to make a PSA for him, I (and I'm pretty sure the majority the "Shadow fan club" community) would prefer to have only Chaos based attacks.

I'm just going to say that I don't mind someone expressing their view on something that I think oppositely on as long as they can back up what they say. You have done that very well and I respect you for that. Smiley

(On a side note, you were talking about Megaman? ... Megaman X? Please?)
