I thought I answered him already O.o

What Wulfbang Meow says is true, my hands are full, but it's not due to Project M. I got some stuff aside from Smash to work on, and that's why I'm not very active lately. Still, I don't think that's a reason to not help on that project, and of course the Pac-Man stage is free to be used in there. I've started working on it, I'll make different versions with different playstyles, I'll try to find some different options that feel cool. This is the first picture so far:

lookin pretty sweet so far, do you plan on making it strobe rainbow like the pac-man championship edition?

i think that would be pretty neat, but ive never worked with VIS0's before so idk how hard it would be..

also you might find this amusing mewtwo =P

Oooooooohhh, more shiny.
I really can't say anything else, I'm terrible at critique.

lol cant say i dont like it tho. =3

ok so the reason i havent put it in the vault yet is because im derping really hard about using the common5.. i replaced the textures for FD with my new stage.. but it froze. :/

i was also hoping someone would do a video.. since the stage looks a lot better in motion.

Also Mewtwo2000...

I'm pretty sure sluigi123 already asked you, but would you care to join the Reality 64 team? We do need help with stages and character models. I would love a reply whenever you can.

While im not the man himself so i couldnt tell you no, but he is already on the Project M team, so hes probably got his hands full with that..
21  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread - [Updated Dreamland] - (06/06/14) on: June 13, 2014, 11:00:33 AM
Yeah, same reason here. If you change the order of the models, or change the priority of the object for the ball, it will get visible in certain cases. Go to the object of the light, look for the DrawPriority, and set it to 1.

yeah no matter what order i try, the models just wont let my light ball show up in front.. i even tried setting them all with the same priority of 0.. most of the models have a setting of 0, but the light ball was set at 100.

also the light ball model has 2 objects, which i set each to 0 and still nothing. :/

i tried setting the ball to 0, the floor to 1, and the other galaxies to 2 to give a sort of hierarchy.. but nothing changes no matter what i set this property to..

EDIT: ok i fixed it somewhat, im sending you a PM with the details..
22  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread - [Updated Dreamland] - (06/06/14) on: June 12, 2014, 08:20:43 PM
That's another property, I didn't thing they were going to clip between them given the distance.

Try setting as false the 'enabledepthupdate' value, nearly at the end of the material properties list. See if it's good now. If not, you may need to change the order of the objects, or their DrawPriority (something in the objects folder, not the materials one).

ok so im pretty certain you've sold your soul to Sakurai or something.. how the heck do you know so much about this stuff!?!?!

anyways, i no longer have the clipping issue, but my glowball still doesnt show up right.. its kind of like its "behind" the model rather than in the middle of it.. but if i look at it perfectly flat.. its still in the center of the floor galaxy.. :/

i have noticed that some of my galaxies overlap weirdly when i scroll around with the unrestricted pause camera but you dont really notice with the gameplay camera..

im assuming thats why my ball appears "behind" the floor?
23  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread - [Updated Dreamland] - (06/06/14) on: June 12, 2014, 09:16:42 AM
Nope, the galaxies need the xlumaterial to be true. Only that if you set them as true in versions newer than v0.67b, sometimes you'll have trouble. I always use that one when I do it.

These would be all the needed properties in the material:

ok so after blood, sweat, and tears were shed (mostly just tears T_T)...

IT WORKED! =D ......

..but now i got new problems..(which ive circled in red) Dx

im assuming this is happening because we made "EnableAlphaFunction" false.. but i dont think it works without doing that.. so im not sure what to do from here..

also my glowball doesnt show correctly.. but i have a feeling its for the same reason..

24  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread - [Updated Dreamland] - (06/06/14) on: June 11, 2014, 11:16:48 PM
On thread is fine.

Well, if there's a galaxy using a texture that's not supposed to, maybe its texture is in a different format, like CI8 or something. Make it fit the rest of them.

About the transparency issues on the galaxy (which look like CMPR textures when they're not) you have to edit the material. Just at the beginning, there should be some numbers and some 'greater or equal' and 'less or equal' things. Change those to 'always', and the numbers to 0. Then, enable the 'enableblend' and 'xlumaterial' things. Be careful and keep a copy of the model, cause the latest versions of brawlbox sometimes corrupt the models. If for some reason it's corrupted and you don't seem to fix it, go back to brawlbox 0.67b to make the 'xlumaterial' step. Only that one may break things.

ok so while your advice about switching the texture from CMPR back to RGB5A3 (which is what the rest of the galaxy textures are) didnt work immediately.. i did end up finding out what was wrong.. under the material reference for the texture i put a texture reference AND a palette reference even though the model/texture doesnt have a palette.. so i set that back to null and now the texture shows up in game like its supposed to! =3

however i cant seem to get the model transparency part working.. i tried in both versions of brawlbox that you mentioned and i cant seem to get it to work.. however i think i misunderstood the last part of your statement.. are you suggesting that when i open it in brawlbox 0.67b, i should make the "xlumaterial" statement to false like it is originally?
25  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread - [Updated Dreamland] - (06/06/14) on: June 11, 2014, 09:35:18 AM
If I was you, I would not use the animations from the original stage, but build a new one by yourself. If you want to animate it with a CHR0, you can do it, and you can combine it with a CLR0 to make it change how bright it is. An animated rescale with an animated opacity change together would look nice.

About dreamland, the textures are RGB5A3, but the smoother effect comes because I've used transparent materials instead of the standard ones. It looks much better now.

crazy apples huh? looks like a lot of fun, especially with all the items on! xP

also if you feel my questions would be better received in Private Message rather than littering your thread.. let me know and ill stick to PM..

as for my question.. so the material has to be transparent as well? i dont think the 2D model that im using for my galaxies is like that because even after switching to RGB5A3, it still looks like its CMPR and it looks terrible.. is that something i can change within brawlbox? or will i have to find a new model to work with?

also i did what you said with the animation and its just a static glow ball at the moment, but it still looks really nice!

Heres an in game screenshot so you can see what i mean about the transparency and the glow ball:

im not sure what you mean by opacity though.. you can change the opacity of a model with an animation?

im also having an issue with the lowest right hand corner galaxy, its supposed to be different from the galaxy in the middle.. it looks fine in brawlbox but seems to adapt the center galaxies texture when in game.. ive looked through the model's data and i cant seem to find anything that might cause the issue..

ill see if i can screencap my brawlbox later so i can show you..
26  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Brawl Mod with Completely Original Characters on: June 11, 2014, 08:58:48 AM
Man as much as id love my OC to be in brawl, there are A LOT of things you have to do to make this dream come true.. and i mean if you REALLY want a complete character, you gotta do more than just what your talking about..

Concept Work - coming up with the ideas is easy, putting them to paper is not so easy..

Modeling - making a brawl quality model that fits in with the other characters..

Textures - not just one, usually a character has at least 5 different colors, one for his original texture, then 4 more for team colors.. then if you have alternate costumes for your character that you've modeled, you have to texture those too.

Rigging - rigging your model as close to a brawl character will probably make your life easier.. but harder at the same time..

Rough Animations and PSA - where you get the character to play the way you want to and actually be fun, the animations dont have to be stellar at this point as some of your attack ideas might work and some might not.

Final Smash work and detailed PSA - were talkin graphic effects here, lucario's aura, fox's lazer beam, mario's fireball, etc. etc. The final smash shouldnt be a lame clone of someone else's FS (three landmasters.. really?)

Animation Details and Voice-over - now that your attacks are finalized, you can begin animating those moves to fit in with the rest of the crew. strong, fluent, natural animation is key. then comes the voice for said moves.. all those "KYAH!" , "TOH"'s , and "GUAH"'s.. not just "IM THE GREATEST CHAMPION EVER!" and "GUN FLAME!"..

Working out the bugs - Metal materials, final smash eyes, does your character blink? hurt eyes, all the stuff that makes good quality imports.

Great, you have your complete character that feels good to have in smash brothers and feels like he was made in the game.. or do you?

full Ex Roster Slot - CSS portraits for all of your color palletes and alt costumes, CSS icon, franchise icon, name plate, etc.

Custom Stage - pretty much all the work listed above with the exception of PSA work.. including an original song for the stage..

the stuff we havent even touched yet - classic mode integration (his portrait for "VS GIANT METAL OC") Unlockable Trophies, a congratulations animation and image, integration into subspace, event matches, its practically endless..

when people realize how much work goes into just to get the character in the game, they give up.. sure you could gather a team to help you.. but unless that team is dedicated to your original character and wants it in brawl as much as you do, its probably not going to work out.

i think its nuts that we have so many characters that make it all the way to the end, past the voice and animation step.. like cloud strife, mewtwo, roy, all those characters are pretty much made from scratch and some are imported which also takes some doing.

whats even crazier.. is that we do it all for free..
27  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread - [Updated Dreamland] - (06/06/14) on: June 09, 2014, 08:03:29 PM
Thanks again for the advice mewtwo, i found a suitable ball of light.. although it was quite a strange object to find and use..

ive gone ahead and released a Version 1 since ive made a new skybox, i also plan to fix the Stageposition and add some cool lighting effects.. but im still new at lighting..

the glowing ball in the middle came from the diamond/pearl pokemon stage, before the lazer dialga fires, he charges with a ball of light which is a seperate model!

however the ball doesnt animate with a chr0.. it animates with something else? (VIS0 maybe?) and pulses faster than id like it to, any advice there?

Dreamland looks like its coming along nicely, what type of texture did you use for the trees in version 3 so it looks smoother around the edges? (i believe the term is what type of texture compression? like I4, CMPR, etc..)

I don't know if this works with CBliss costumes, but I CAN confirm this working with stages added by Stage Roster Expansion. The ID you use for SRE stages is the stage ID you use in the Custom SSS code. You can even have expansion stages loading in Classic and All Star too.

the stage part is good to know, at least i dont have to overwrite FD for N64 FD..

however it would be convenient if N64 models for characters had their own slots, if it was doable, id have EVERY character use an N64-esque model, like saturn sonic and PS1 snake etc. etc.

although Mr. G&W can be pretty much left alone lol

it would be neat to do a melee event in the same fashion, give everyone gamecube-esque models and use melee FD.. but this would be a lot of work.. :/

oh and i suppose since the stage roster expansion code works since it gives a new stage ID for custom stages, the same could be said of Ex Characters since they're given new ID's as well as part of the code?

that could open up for some cool boss battles! WE CAN HAVE THE MELEE GIGA BOWSER EVENT FIGHT!! =3
