1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Smashcraft - A hefty Warcraft brawl import (and personal learning experience) on: March 02, 2013, 11:23:43 AM
Hey Mariodk, I've heard a lot about your modding on here roaming around lately Smiley Glad to see you have had some experience with WoW and the brawl modding community, so maybe I can toss you a few questions through my experience here as I do this? Smiley

I like the idea of actually importing peoples characters as well, I was actually looking into my warrior that I used to play as well. I only quit fairly recently, but have always been a huge fan of the series.

I was actually thinking of potentially making the D-Pad Left and Right blink for a mage once that idea gets around. Smiley For now though, I figured this warrior would teach me a LOT about the entire modding scene. From importing models, animations, etc to making movesets and getting them working properly.

I am currently browsing the tutorials section, somewhat confused on how to do this stuff currently. I need to learn exactly what to do with bones. Do I just import them over a similar character? Like if I did this specific character over link, would I be able to make multiple single-slot sizes that used the same hit box? For example, I'd like an Orc, Human, and Tauren for now, but am focusing on the two right now that are similar in size.

Also, if I wanted another character with similar bones to build off of, is it possible to put them into another slot for characters? Do I have to use small characters to make small characters or is it just easier that way?

I plan to work steadily for sure, though like I said I am very new to this newest stuff. Regardless, I will be spending time and may even have a buddy joining me sometime to work on it in the future. For now, I am focusing on taking things a step at a time to learn everything properly. I am very excited though and would like to finish one character within a month or two, and after that knowing what I'm doing will make things much easier.

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I have been here, but I am back and very interested in starting up quite a project! I am very new to all these new imports and PSA hacks, so it seemed like a good way to teach myself pretty much everything new to the scene that showed up over the past few years!

But anyway...Presenting a project I'll be spending my time working on and teaching myself how to mod...

Features (and things I will be learning):
-Imported Models
-Stages
-Custom animations
-Custom PSAs

Obviously, this is a somewhat large project, and the Warcraft series has had quite a lot of choices to pick for characters, classes, and anything you'd like to add to the game. And from what I've seen on this site now, many of the ideas in mind are doable! I currently do not have a lot of details, and am slowly designing ideas for movesets. I will be listing any characters I have moveset ideas for. Not all these characters will be the heroes and villians of the game, but there will be obvious additions I will work on.

Current Idea: Warrior

NOTE: No numbers yet, but am looking to make a very nicely balanced roster of characters. Current ideas for moves though along with corresponding buttons.
Movesets:

Warrior

EXAMPLE IMAGES
A multi-purposed character, a warrior can swap between specs using the Left, Up, and Right D-pad buttons. Each spec opens up some control, KO, or gap closing ability.
_______________________________
-Protection (Sword and Shield)
   *Activated using Left D-pad
   *Stuns, %/HP resistance
*Not much opportunity to KO an enemy in this spec until high %, but survival is high

A:
A - Swing your sword
A.Up - Swing your sword in an arc in the air, knocking enemies back into the air slightly
A.Left/Right - Slam your shield into your enemy, tossing them far and dealing a far amount of damage
A.Down - Stomp the ground in a thunderous clap, tossing enemies into the air around the warrior

B:
B - Devastate your enemies with a swing of your sword, knocking them back and causing them to bleed a %/HP over 5 seconds
B.Up - Heroically leap up and forward, landing hard on the ground and dealing damage to anyone landed on. In Protection spec, this also applies a short bleed of %/HP over 5 seconds
B.Left/Right - Throw your sword in the cast direction, dealing a very small amount of damage.
B.Down - Reflect a cast spell back at your enemy
_______________________________
-Arms (Two-Handed Weapon)
   *Activated using Up D-Pad
*High Damage, High KO potential, Slower attack speed

A:
A - Swing your weapon two times, followed by a third knockback swing
A.Up - Heavy upward swing, good for finishing top screen KOs and juggling
A.Left/Right - A heavy executing swing in the direction cast, good for side-screen KOs
A.Down - Stomp the ground, dealing light damage and a light knockback

B:
B - Swing your weapon with a tremendous force in the direction cast, dealing massive damage and huge knockback
B.Up - Heroically leap up and forward, landing hard on the ground and dealing damage to anyone landed on.
B.Left/Right - Spin with your weapon across a moderate distance, dealing slight damage to enemies you pass through.
B.Down - Deliver a strong spin with your weapons, hitting anyone directly around you and knocking them back and dealing a large amount of damage.
B.Down.Air - Leap downwards at a slight angle, landing strongly on the ground, dealing moderate and knocking back any enemies hit.
_______________________________
 -Fury (Dual-Wielding two two-handed weapons)
   *Activated using Right D-Pad
*light damage, quick and multi-directional attacks, good mobility, moderate knockback and KO potential

A:
A- rapidly swing your weapons in front of you
A.Up - Swing your weapons in a large arc around you, hitting everything directly around you and tossing it up into the air.
A.Left/Right - Slam both weapons on the ground in front of you, dealing moderate damage and moderate knockback
A.Down - Swing your weapons in a circle around you, keeping enemies at bay and dealing low damage.

B:
B - Spin your weapons in a circle around you, knocking enemies back and dealing moderate damage.
B.Up - Heroically leap up and forward, landing hard on the ground and dealing damage to anyone landed on.
B.Left/Right - Heroically leap forward a good distance, landing and swinging your weapons foward, dealing damage and knockback
B.Down - Cleave your weapons in the direction you're facing, dealing light damage and knockback
B.Down.Air - Spin straight downwards, hitting enemies in your path down and dealing light damage

Any opinions, ideas, interests, suggestions, etc. are welcome! This will continue to expand and look cleaner as time goes on. Smiley
4  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Starting over with some texture work! More to come! [current: 9/16/10] on: September 16, 2010, 10:24:55 AM
Hello everyone, it's been a while for me. Figured I'd start working on redoing some textures I did in the past and lost. With Vertex editing too, maybe I can eventually get them looking a little more interesting.

_____________
Anyways, I'm starting off with a Warcraft texture. Tongue If you're a fan, you'll know who who Arthas Menethil was. This is still a work in progress but Here is what I have on him so far as a Death Knight. Obviously, BrawlBox makes it look all funky so I'll get some in game shots ASAP.

Well I figured it out now! Thank you for all the help with my re-learning of texturing! Soon, since I kinda learned brawlbox a bit now, I may try to model edit. But for now I will stick to getting the textures done. I must say, this is much easier than when I used to work with it. :]

Anyway, figured I'd add a screenshot of my test work just to figure out what is going on and to let you get an idea of what I'm working on redoing lol.

Many thanks again!

Yeah it is the shadow apparently. How do I view the model with the textures? It doesn't seem to show up when I open up the pac I exported.

Hello again, sorry for the double post. I got the files extracted but brawlbox is giving me an issue. The characters tend to just show up white. No textures at all. What is the reason for this?

Many thanks!

thank you for the link, I was just wondering how to extract the data partition myself. It would make it easier for me to extract it all at once instead of downloading it since I don't have a mediapro account.

So I have had my backup sitting here for some time, and have really been wanting to start back up with some textures and maybe even get into some modding. I have ideas, but I have no idea how to get to the files I need.

 Im srs here

If anyone can hook me up with a tutorial on how to get the files from my copy and then what I need exactly for getting into viewing models and possibly editing them that would be great. I did this way before that became available lol.

Thanks a million!
