1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: WIP Workshop on: October 26, 2020, 09:24:07 AM
I've been working on this for a while, and I know it's like, the thousandth Shadow on the vault, but none of them actually match up with the Brawl style and are usually a hot outdated mess. So I've been doing something about that:

This is one of my projects, which I'd like to call "Brawl Shadow". The model is heavily based on the Mario and Sonic Rio Olympic Games model, since it is the same model but retopo'd. It reuses some assets from Brawl Sonic like the body, mouth, and eyes however. I chose that model specifically because Brawl Sonic and Olympics Sonic are the exact same design, so it would also apply to Shadow. Some design choices are actually based on the assist trophy itself, such as the dark tanned mouth, the orange tint on his shoes, and what have you not.

It also has custom UVs and textures made by me, and will also be rigged once I get done with the textures and chest fur. Currently just need to do the textures for the soles, jets, chest fur, and texture in the indents on his shoes. Oh yeah, if anyone is curious, the head texture is entirely custom.

Here are some more shots of the model.

2  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Board Problems, Suggestions and Updates on: May 16, 2019, 01:12:59 AM
Hey. For how Brawl Vault has been so far, it's been pretty lackluster for a while due to no changes. Navigation can be annoying sometimes when you're trying to look for some stuff, like some Pit costumes instead of all that DBZ stuff. Uploading can be annoying too at times when it comes to previews. I brought my ideas up to Scout/Nezha via Discord, but then he told me to post it here. Here are what I think would help benefit the Vault:

Vault Suggestions:

-Adding a review system. Sometimes we may not know the quality of the mod or would like to hear other people’s opinions on it. Comments solely based on feedback should also be added. There would be rules obviously, mostly that the rules here would apply there and that the comments should only relate to the mod itself. This would definitely help people see if the stage/model import/moveset has any problems or is lacking in quality.

-Give us the ability to remove our very own reports. Some people just make mistakes.

-Give Mewtwo and Roy their own slots in the character section. P:M is the very reason that more than half of the Brawl community mods nowadays. This would really help.

-Also give the P:M stages their own slots in the stage section as well.

-Add tags and a filter system. When you enter the Pit section, you see so many DBZ mods and theres no way to filter all that out, and you just want your Pit costumes without having to surf in all that. Maybe you just wanna only see the mods from a certain year. Tags would help with the filter system, plus it would help with what you're looking for as well. Maybe I just want to look for Mario recolors instead of models or all those PSAs only.

-Forbid screenshots taken by a camera. I don't like potato quality. You don't like potato quality. So get rid of it. Sometimes you can't see everything thanks to these people thinking its fine to upload previews just like that.

-Get rid of the function for when you add in a image into the direct image link on a entry then it auto fills the thumbnail. It’s very annoying, if anything.

-Speaking of uploading, add a preview cropper. I like my banners in high definition and hate having to constantly crop them by making them extremely low res to the point where it looks ugly. I'm sure other people feel the same way.

-If permission is asked for on a mod, then the user who wants to edit it NEEDS to get permission.
-Fix the SFX/video previews, PLEASE. There's some sfx mods i've been itching to try out, but I need to know how they sound like and there's absolutely no way to view them, and other people complain about this as much as I do.

Even though I don't care much about the forums since it's dead, I'd like to suggest that we have the ability to make sure that they're not in the recycle bin.. i wanna get rid of every post i made from 2014-2017 forever and im sure some people would like to as well lol

One more thing that would REALLY help is updating the Resources tab,

To bounce off what Windhunter brought up, I'd like to propose adding the following to Resources:

BrawlCrate. A branch of BrawlBox v0.78 (made by soopercool101) which fixes numerous bugs while adding various new features. It updates rather frequently depending on what sooper's working on. BrawlCrate also features a "Canary" system which lets users test new features before the next stable release is pushed.
The current stable version is v0.24 (Hotfix 1): https://github.com/soopercool101/BrawlCrate/releases/tag/BrawlCrate_v0.24Hotfix1

PSA Compressor. A branch of Project Smash Attacks (made by ICLPX) which fixes numerous bugs while adding various new features. Unlike BrawlCrate, PSA Compressor doesn't update very frequently.
The current version is v0.35: https://ux.getuploader.com/iclpxnohokanko1/download/110

Better PSA Compressor Config. Enhanced configuration files (lead by TheGag96) for PSA Compressor which fixes numerous param label errors and adds labels for newly discovered PSA commands.
https://github.com/TheGag96/pm-hax/tree/master/Better%20PSAC%20Config

Item Editor. A branch of PSA Compressor (also by ICLPX) which allows the editing of Items and Kirby Hats.
The current version is v0.12: https://ux.getuploader.com/iclpxnohokanko1/download/107

PSA Remaker. A standalone program (also by ICLPX) used to add Sub Actions and Actions to a given moveset file (requires additional module editing to get them to work properly).
The current version is v0.14: https://ux.getuploader.com/iclpxnohokanko1/download/111

CodeWrite. A clone/branch of ASMWiiRd (made by TheGag96) which allows users experienced with assembly to make their own ASM codes.
The current version is v1.0.6: https://github.com/TheGag96/CodeWrite/releases/tag/v1.0.6

All of what KJP mentioned? Do it. Resources has NONE of this and most of this is mandatory nowadays in Brawl/P:M modding.
Speaking of Resources, what would help is if there were some tutorials listed for specific programs or just in general, like how to use 3DS MAX/Blender for importing models, how to change specific materials, how to insert codes, how to modify SFX files, etc.

One more thing though that should be added is the Custom Brawl Modding Discord. It's very well organized and there's a lot of stuff you can do over there. It has plenty of resources, lots of users that are active you can talk to about your mods (like feedback and helping and what not), etc. A link if anyone is interested: https://discord.gg/GbxJhbv

This sounds like a lot, but these are all that I'd think would help benefit the Vault a lot.

7  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: WIP PSA Workshop on: November 19, 2016, 01:44:49 PM
This Shadow looks much better than before, in terms of graphics.

On a side note, I think creating a thread would be a better way to present this since the PSA thread is really dying. Though, it's your choice.
I appreciate your thoughts, I could put up a thread later.
8  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: WIP PSA Workshop on: November 19, 2016, 01:30:36 PM
Here I am, again, with Shadow.

Recently, i have came back to working on a Project M Shadow PSA again.
This time, i will not quit, unless HeavensTracker0 releases his Shadow PSA.
I have became more experienced with PSA and editing animations since then, and i have somebody helping me.
But, i will not copy every single thing off him like i tried to do before.
It makes me sick still seeing people abusing SilentDooms V2 Shadow PSA, and what not.
So here i am, again, doing a custom Shadow PSA.

Shadow won't just have normals, specials, and taunts done.
He will have more than that, like dodges, ledge attacks, and more. (no chaos control over time or any op crap that doesnt make sense, like any shadow psa)
Note that what's shown in the pics are all subject to change.
PS. If anyone asks about the model, don't worry about it, i am fully aware of the amazing Brawl model Nano did.

9  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: The Smash 3 Project - Get Your DLC Early on: September 04, 2016, 12:31:09 PM
The whole roster was updated and completed, check the SmashBoards thread.
10  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: August 15, 2016, 12:56:46 AM
Also, he hinted on updating the models used for shadow's moveset I've wario!
Everything else is still nasty.
Hey Cali, this might be a silly question but I want to ask now that Sub-Zero is almost done: I dunno how long it'll take for you to get to the Scorpion update, so would it be possible for you to release the old moveset with the newer models? That way people can have both characters, with matching appearances and alternate costumes, lag free.

If not I understand, but it's something to consider. I'm sure a lot of people would like at least a model update, if not a full one, alongside Sub-Zero.
I third this.
11  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: August 12, 2016, 10:24:17 AM
Sub Zero is finished! Just making a Snake version for him.  Also for Frieza, I might have to use this model since the others Lag pretty bad no matter what I do to them. I actually Like this model though.
Looks nice, it be much better if you gave him brawlified textures to fit in with the cast.
12  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: August 08, 2016, 11:11:27 AM
This will fit the Air Final Smash Perfectly!

You're right, it does.
13  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: August 05, 2016, 12:55:56 PM
About the final smash, yeah, it would be op, but like it shows in the gif, he freezes the enemy first, then kills the enemy with the ice ball.
Maybe if you miss/don't freeze the enemy, Sub Zero can't throw the ice ball.
14  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: August 05, 2016, 10:17:50 AM
Your a big fan of sub zero huh lol. Thats good tho.  Also for the Side Smash Im going to keep it because Its different.  This is where I got the Idea for the side smash. https://youtu.be/vExmrO9pLSM?t=1m26s

For the Taunts didn't want him to have the doll since scorpion has it already. I think the taunt are fine.
The up throw I did like snakes power drive body slam so I kept it ( also didn't know what to give him lol ) but I think I just might give him the uppercut. seems fitting. The GFX for the down smash is the best I could do. Its just an Ice Puddle anyway lol.

I have a Ground fatality where sub Zero freezes you and then he forms another ice ball and shatters the player. I'm thinking of making it an instant kill but that would be OP.
The air Final Smash I might need an idea for because the ground Final Smash looks stupid in the Air. I would say he has the stage snow a bit and whoever is around him will be frozen multiple times. The hit box could get bigger if you tap the button. something like DK's Final Smash.

Thanks for your feedback. Always need criticism good and bad.

OH YEA, for the xenoverse characters there is something I need to let you guys know. When its available you guys will have to recolor the textures yourself since getting some of the models is a pain itself. lol sorry.

One last thing. If you ever used this ( http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=207328 ) editing the models will be a lot similar to how to create your own halo character. pretty simple but just know you will be deleting a of crap.

You bet i am.
Hmm. The forward smash idea is nice, now that i get it, but you can perhaps improve the attack and animation itself.
15  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Cali Kingz Projects on: August 01, 2016, 12:39:27 PM
Some attacks look really damn neat, i love his dash attack and jab, but i feel his aireal side special could be changed, really, it bothers me.
Forward smash could be this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVdMFB8sA9o
I mean, sub zero does have a ice sword and plus, the forward smash doesn't look fitting, it's weird.
Down smash could be improved, as in GFX.
Ice clone needs better GFX.
His up grab could be the uppercut from the classic mk games, forward grab could be changed, and back throw could be improved.
Side tilts animation could be improved.
Aireal Neutral Special could be improved, perhaps make sub zero stay in the air and use ice blast? Btw, i think it should only be used once in the air.
Also, maybe you could change up some of his taunts?
Keep the one that involves the snowman coming out of the box, but you could change one of the taunts to him taking out the sub zero doll, like his MK2 friendship.
Other than that, great job!
