The forum collation (I actually have no idea what that means ) defaults to latin_swedish but his username needed at least utf8_general_ci to work. So... I had to go through and convert all of the tables.
Further more, he shouldn't have been able to create that name in the first place. It should have thrown an error (much like the one you got when PMing him). After the conversions, my ピカノ name worked and I could send / receive PMs... but his returned 'user could not be found'.
So.. I went into the DB and looked at his profile there --- his name wasn't the actual characters... but rather HTML entities which display the characters. In order to send a PM to him, you had to write something like.... #3434;#5345;#5434;... so, I just replaced his name with what it actually displays and it worked.
I was wondering can there like be a place in the brawl vault where final smashes go? Because I found a few final smashes in the character section but it took me forever to find them! So yeah i was just wondering if we could do this just to make it easier to find them. Is this possible?
As stated many times before, the problem is two-fold.
1) Even limiting it just to registered users (well... duh) and further limiting it to post count, a ton of people have bias. Someone posts a super-mega-ultra-omnipotent-trandimensional-transexual Shadow hack and it will be no starred, regardless of how good it actually is.
2) It's a resource hog. For every hack, it has to store a total rating as well as a list of all users who have rated it. Every time a hack is rated, it has to cross-check that list. (The rating system on our blog is one of our most storage and process intensive things) Comments are a bit easier, as it is a forum... but it would still take me a good deal of time and well... we've seen youtube comments and several members here make me despise the forum/vault report systems.
We are too popular for our own good. The site either needs some godly amount of optimization, of which I have no time to do, or we need a better server, which... we're hosted for free by Dantarion and are already a massive drain on him. (And, aside from one dire instance, has never asked for or accepted payment from us)
Not sure if this is already known but, if i try to set up the BV RSS Feed on my phone it only shows the recent posts on the forum.. No BV entries or anything, just forum posts.. Any idea
Is it possible to add Menu to the sub selections for SFX mods? Currently I have this labeled under Announcer, but its not an Announcer mod only effects the menu sounds. No big deal, but it may confuse those who'd download it (considering my preview vid has the Announcer calls muted, thats not done by this menu mod)
Make me an icon to use (or just give me an edited version of the current full image) and I'll see about it.
I don't know if this has been pointed out yet, but if you click on any link in the banner before brawlvault finishes loading its listings it will have a window that says "Problem:".
That's normal. It's actually part of the javascript snippet I copied.
Problem is all Brawl Vault stuff is handled by AJAX --- and it doesn't like getting interrupted before new content is loaded. I could turn off the error message, but it would also turn off legitimate errors (though, I suppose they would only show up if your internet or KC-MM is dead)
But... the entire point of an RSS feed is to be a news feed. It is not at all meant to be a navigable list of everything. In fact, it isn't really supposed to be looked at on site --- instead it should be accessed through feed readers or as a live bookmark.
I wouldn't mind adding an everything list to the options... but I don't exactly see it as something used frequently enough to warrant it.
