With the dawning of a new Smash era with Project M's demo release courtesy of the PMBR, I've decided to compose some hacks of my own, as well as compile a compilation of hacks I frequently use to help improve the experience. I've decided to host those hacks here for those who are interested!
Here are the featured videos of what the download will include for my current Project M demo hacks:
Custom CSS/SSS come in four types! Project M Blue and Traditional Red are the color schemes, and both come with the normal Project M CSS layout, and my own custom layout inspired by ASF1nk's own CSS designs.
Note: There are a few known issues. The first being that Bowser's Castle cannot be selected via random. This will be fixed at a later date. The second issue being that replays cannot be saved for either WiFi Waiting Room, or Bowsers Castle. Finally, do not select the WiFi Waiting Room icon on the first map menu under Music, as that represent WiFi Waiting Rooms music, which cannot be modified in game. Any of these scenarios will either cause the game to freeze. That is all.
1: Go to http://projectm.smashmods.com/downloads/ and download the Project M demo. 2: Download any of the four packs provided. 3: Replace the folders titled "codes" and "private" with those included in the Project M demo download. 4: Enjoy!

Not all stages have been given custom music, because I haven't found a suitable song for every stage. If you have ANY recommendations, please feel free to share and submit your ideas! I am always looking for new music.
A patch will be released soon for Project M's demo. I will work to incorporate the patch changes for the download to avoid desyncs on WiFi as time permits. Thanks.
Alright, so I made a custom CSS. However, when I go in to Classic mode, All Star mode, et cetera... The stock display where you choose your difficulty, the amount of lives you want to use, et cetera... It's behind the CSS. I'd like to move it. Can anyone guide me on how to do this properly?
Secondly, I am trying to put a background on my CSS. I edited the MenSelchrFaceB.001 file under MiscData[30] > Textures, but it didn't do anything. I still have the standard Brawl CSS background.
Help on this would be fantastic. It's one of the last few things I have to do.
I know people have managed to replace all English SFX on an American copy of Brawl with Japanese ones, but is it possible to only replace specific sound effects? Like those for a single character only? I am looking to replace the SFX for Meta Knight.
Also, is it possible to do without using Riivolution? Thanks.
I'm starting to run dry on my well of music, so I need some suggestions. I'll post what I got going for me on my stages so you have an idea of the direction I'm taking my music so as to not give me off the wall suggestions:
As you can see, I've gone for a metal/rock/orchestrated style. Some levels deviate from this, but that's mostly what I'm looking for. The song HAS to fit the level though, I'm not in to throwing Eminem on Final Destination. i.e. Pokemon remixes on Pokemon Stadium 2, techno beats on Flat Zone, et cetera. These are the stages I need suggestions for:
Some levels already have very appropriate music, like Shadow Moses Island, Port Town Aero Dive, and Delfino Plaza. But I am open for new music if it fits the level and is preferably high octane.
--without the textures, and other aesthetic modifications.
If I had a blank sc_selcharacter_en.pac, what files would have to export from the sc_selcharacter_en.pac they are providing and then replace in to the blank one to achieve that layout?
Sometimes when I use the converter to convert mp3's to brstm's, when they play in Brawl they are either too quiet or too loud. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Would audacity work? If so, how? Thanks.
Alright, so. I'm trying to make a custom CSS, essentially identical to ASF1nk's, minus the custom portraits, colors, et cetera. I just want the CSS structure. I use the CSS Organizer, and when I load up Brawl, the 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P slots are in the correct spots, but the character icons don't move at all, except for Snake, who is way below at the bottom of the screen. I have no idea what's causing this. I know it isn't my codes since I can use ASF1nk's sc_selcharacter.pac and it works just fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Or better yet, does anyone have a CSS identical to ASF1nk's minus everything else included?
I noticed in ASF1nk's CSS, he has the text removed from the character icons, so I am looking to do that to.
From what I understand, you need to edit the bone in the sc_selcharacter_en.pac, under the directory MiscData[30]>3DModels(NW4R)>MenSelchrFaceI_TopN>Bones>MenSelchrFaceI_TopN>rotN>nameEA7. Please correct me if this is wrong and if I should be looking elsewhere.
My question is what do I do to edit this bone? I tried reducing the Scale to (0.0.0), but I just got a freeze. Anyone know?
Also, I've replaced the texture files for the stage portraits to reflect the textures I have over my stages on the SSS. I obviously haven't tried it yet, but the file is larger and it might freeze when I try it. Anyone know of any files other than textures in there I can get rid of to reduce the size?
Alright, so. Trying to make some SSS portraits for my custom stages. I have the SSS icons and names all done, and the file size has stayed around the same thus far, but it starts to expand too much when I add the portraits. I need about an extra 20 Kb or so of space. Does anyone have any suggestions for a) reducing the size of the images while sacrificing as minimal quality as possible, or b) does anyone know if there are any files in the sc_selmap file that I likely will not need that I can delete for extra space?
My other questions, although not a major priority, are:
1) Which file and sub folder is the handicap button on for the CSS? I am looking to edit out the handicap text and change it to buffer.
2) How do I go about changing the stage portraits on the random stage select screen?
3) How do I assign specfic emblems to specific SSS portraits, and how do I add new ones without replacing current emblems?
As bolded, I put the byte value for the Brawl SSS at 34 to allow for 34 stages. The problem comes when I add the bolded line where I add Mario Circuit and Marios Bros. Once I attempt to add that line in to the code, I get a DSI error as soon as I load up Brawl from Gecko. Does anyone see what I might be doing wrong, here?
I used Bero's Stage Switcher app to swap the base .rel files for a few things. Namely using the Temple base for Mario Circuit so I can replace Mario Circuit with a Pumkin Hill hack, which requires it to go over Temple. I also tried the same thing with Mario Bros. and New Pork City, to no avail. I am not using the PAL version, and have had success with using other .rel files previously. The only ones I cannot get working are replacing the .rel files for Temple on those said stages, and the .rel file required for Robz new Dracula stage, since I don't know the base .rel file (If anyone knows what it is, please let me know.)
