61  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE 2- on: February 16, 2014, 12:15:25 AM
Hey Snoopy do you plan to make a sound pack for Villager? Can't wait till the final release it out! Keep up the great work, it looks really nice from the Initial Release before.....also does it still freeze after a few matches? Thanks! Kirby Dance

sound pack?  probably not, for two reasons.  one, i'd have to have someone else make it, i have no idea how, and two, there's very few sounds the Villager makes anyways.

for the freezing, none what so ever.  that was the main reason for the month long silence during December.  right now it's because i need to focus on school...

Looking forwards to the next release of this, and I had no idea it was even updated after the pause.

Going to try this out later tonight. And my vote for the final smash is yeah, on the bees coming out of the trees if you can make it look good.

yep, my updates tend to be rather random, it's more as i get time to do this.  and hey, one vote for Bees.  that makes... one vote total.

very nice.  didn't show the Side or Down B, but hey, it was just a regular match.  and man, i thought the few Pit voice clips i've left in were bad, but that's nothing compared to Megaman without his soundfile...

Well Snoopy, by the end of your paragraph i see it was a troll, but I was saying an item's EFFECT being used, not the item itself. But I can TRY to find something that springs ideas.

only a half troll.  half of those things i should probably do anyways.  hm, the effects you say... so like the little green bubbles from the Deku Leaf?  depending on what it is, and how simple it is, i could probably do it.  i have a few slots for effects still open.  i'd imagine it's something along the lines of one of the emotion effects, like the question mark i'll end up using in the Final Smash animation.
64  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE 2- on: January 31, 2014, 04:21:56 PM
BESIDES the fact it's a different game, does ANYTHING AT ALL give you ideas?

hmmmm...  i should re-implement the Glide?  that the Villager should use the furniture leaf in an attack?  different costumes?  make the Villager 100% immune to everything because that's another item Link is using in that shot?  since it's Wind Waker and it has cell shading, that i should get off my lazy butt and do the extra Material stuff like i've been meaning to do?  i need to go play Wind Waker again, because it's been a few years since i have and my Wii U needs some more play time?  guess i'm not seeing it, you'll probably need to be a little bit more specific.
65  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE 2- on: January 29, 2014, 10:48:40 AM
also, im going to help find a way to force spawn resetti

this would be lovely.  my attempts have been quite useless.  i do have a slight change to it i could do if necessary, but i'd still prefer to have Resetti in it.

Will the Kirby hat have a PSA or is it just a model swap?

more just a model swap.  i'd only need to change the Bow and Arrow for the Slingshot, and i'd just use the Hat that Gamma made a while back, but on Pit's instead of Ness's.

Can't wait for a final vesion of this.
I tried Villager with BrawlEx, I don't know why but it freeze.

i wouldn't know either, but i haven't tried BrawlEx yet.  i can look into it later, but it may be a while before my laziness about it goes away.

Pit isn't able to be cloned yet is he?

he is.  it could be something i've done to the FitPit.pac or something that broke it.  i did have to copy paste everything into a clean one yesterday, since i kind of broke it beyond repair.

well, maybe this'll generate a bit more interest than the last one.

Revision 2 release, now with a functional Side and Down B!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nh2z2g20cyvpuxn/VillagerPSARevision2.zip

the Down B is as i showed a few posts ago, while the Down B functions like this.

first, the Villager sets up the Firework Launcher either behind him or above him (on the ground and in the air respectively).  then after a bit, it shoots out for a large explosion.  you can either just push Down B and it'll go off more or less immediately once it's ready, or you can hold Down B until you feel like releasing it, but it'll still only go off after the setup is done.  no extra damage from charging, couldn't figure that part out.  but i'm pretty happy with at least being able to hold it.

i also grabbed Ikarus and ran through the PSA part because i was getting tired of not knowing why certain attacks weren't hitting right, like the Back Air.  turns out i was just trying to be too fancy with a few of them, and completely forgot to move others.  for example, the Back Air before was pointing towards the screen instead of other fighters.  another was the Neutral Air, i left them in the same place as Pit's, which is why they were hitting almost anywhere.  so, once again, the hitboxes for ALL the attacks should finally be right.

not much left now, just the Throws, Final Smash, Kirby Hat (that i forgot about up until a few days ago...), and some final touch ups.  then i will finally call the Villager completed.

So I havent been on for a long time, And i have an idea. try using a program to model/hack the Assist Trophies. This might be dumb because i don't mod or hack. :-P But it won't hurt to try! Just... save BEFORE you do it. XD

oh, you mean BrawlBox.  yeah, i use it a little bit.  quite the fancy little tool, it is.

although the question is more what you would want to change.  changing the model is just like regular character imports.  the rest, probably just a little more than that.

anyways, i come bearing news of an update!

i got the Side B fully animated and working as it should.  i ended up not doing the projectile mode, mainly because i'd have to do the pseudo projectile 'use the ThrowN bone and have it just phase through everything including the walls and ground', and that would bug me pretty badly.

so here's more of how it works.

first, he pulls out Lloid and hops on him.

then, Lloid rockets forward.

once he's out of steam, the Villager jumps off and re-pockets him.

so yeah.  Down B will be next.

and i would like to ask again, since no one answered.

so, i've run into a slight issue.  apparently, using the Generate Item command won't let me spawn Resetti, which kind of ruins my Final Smash idea.  anyone know if there is a way to spawn Assist Trophy characters whenever?  if not, i'm seeing 3 options for this.
1 - keep it as is, just without Resetti popping up after
2 - go with a different suggested idea of basically keeping Pit's, but with Bees.  i'd have the animation of the Villager actually shaking a tree, then they pop out.
3 - something else completely, which i have no idea what that is.

should i stick with the current Final Smash even if i can't get Resetti to pop up at the end, or switch to something else?  the current one is this,

a message box pops up asking 'would you like to save?', which the Villager would shake his head 'no', then the screen goes black for a second or two, simulating a fake reset.  while dark, everyone else would get hit for 20-40% damage and possibly left with a random ailment, like Luigi's but it's a one time hit.  i'm not too sure about the exact details for the damage part, but that's my current idea.  and once the darkness fades out, Resetti would pop up because someone didn't save before resetting.

well, as i've mentioned previously and in the included ReadMe file, i have yet to actually make the Side B, Down B, Throws, and Final Smash.  if there's any animation where the Villager deforms like that, it means i'm going to be making the animation, nut just haven't at this point.  the grounded Side B does have Lloid and the sitting position there, but that was more for testing purposes to make sure i could actually get Lloid to show up right.  as for the Down B freezing, beats me, i have yet to touch it.

I don't know if this question has been answered before, but will there be a Project M version?

if i actually played Project M, then i'd have a better feel for doing, but as for now, no.  if anyone would like to make one, i'd be happy to help, or at least try to change things to better match P:M.

and while i'm asking questions, anyone know if there's a way to basically use the animation for when a fighter is being held in Wario's mouth?  i'd love to know how, since that'd help with the Grabbing i'm aiming for, which is the Smash 4 grab people with the Net.
70  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE 2- on: January 19, 2014, 10:25:04 PM
nicely done snoopy. I updated the OP to contain that post.

thanks for that, i probably would have forgotten to ask otherwise.

Great job Snoopy, this looks to be coming along very nicely, keep it up!

why thank you, i aim to please.

little psycho is joining us!

and don't forget his Female partner in crime.

Wait, you're still alive?

surprisingly, yes.  i only rage quit a few times.
71  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE- on: January 19, 2014, 09:27:13 PM
wait, there's an update?

Revision 1 is here, with 98.675% less freezing!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/e1p431ac3dqat37/VillagerPSARevision1.zip

the main reason it took well over a month to find the freezing issue was because i was looking in the wrong spot.  turns out it was the Villager's model causing the after a few matches freeze.  i have no idea why, but apparently having the Helmet and Gloves on the Villager's model was just too much, even after BrawlBox's tristripping.

so the model and textures are highly optimized since the previous release, and the Gloves and Helmet have been moved into the FitPit.pac.  they're still there and show up when necessary, which is what i've been working on the last week.

also, the balancing suggestions from a while ago should all be in there, assuming i didn't forget to copy some over.  the last release i completely forgot to actually change most of the extra details of the hitboxes.  well, anything more than which bone it goes to and positioning i ended up forgetting.  but they should be in there now.

basically there's nothing actually new in here, mainly just the optimizations and hitbox fixings.

and if you've read this far and wondered about the above pic, it's going to be part of the Final Smash animation.  had some REFF and REFT editing to make it work, but i think it'll be worth it.
72  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE- on: December 11, 2013, 08:24:14 PM
sorry for the bit of silence, been focusing a lot on college the last few weeks, especially since this week is finals for me.  which means in a few days i'll finally have some time to work on the Villager a bit more.

a few things to note.  i believe i have a general idea of why the constant freezing after the match is happening.  i think it's something with the FitPit.pac file.  i've reduced the texture file size for the Villager a fair amount, but nothing changed.  i then removed the MotionEtc to test, and it still froze after just a few matches.  i then put the MotionEtc back and removed the FitPit.pac, and it took a lot longer to freeze, about 20 matches compared to 4.  of course the last few were quickly entering and exiting immediately, so even that freeze could just be from a memory overload or something.  so i at least have a lead on that.

as for the Side B, i have one of two options.  the first is to try to copy how it will be in Smash 4 exactly, according to this...

the second option is to still have the two separate parts, but say something like he hops on when in air, and just fires it when on ground.  this will probably be the easier option, but i may try the first one anyways.

so yeah, that's what's been going on with me the last bit.  i wouldn't just release a beta and call it done.
73  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE- on: November 14, 2013, 01:42:57 PM
didn't think there'd be this good of feedback for a bit, glad you guys are liking the Villager.

as is probably obvious, i didn't too a whole lot of play testing myself, so a lot of the attacks are imbalanced.  hence the size issue, which i agree, he does need to be a bit smaller after watching the videos.  so thank you for giving me a great start UncleOwnage, i'll start with your suggestions, as well as the ones from bekindsorewind.  that isn't to say that i'll ignore any more, since it'll still take time to make the changes.

I also think his Side-B, while still a WIP, could be a single blow as opposed to the small multiple attacks. Villager needs a good attack like that.

for the Side B, i was thinking of making it more or less like Luigi's and Pikachu's, i just haven't touched it yet aside from the base pose and testing to make sure the Gyroid loaded properly.

Since it looks like you imported his tools and the Gyroid from AC:CF, is there a way to import the model of the Villager himself in Brawl as well? I know ACCF has MDL0s.

the answer is yes, but the quality of the model is quite low.  not nearly as bad as the Smashville models, since those are the Wild World models, but yeah.  i actually used the City Folk model as the base when i made the current Villager model, and i made it as close to it as possible, just a higher poly count to look and animate better.  so in a sense, this is the CF model, just better looking for the most part.
74  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl!- BETA RELEASE- on: November 13, 2013, 07:53:05 PM
very nice.  and with that,

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ve5pqn01e7uyuc/VillagerInitialRelease.zip

don't be too surprised if occasional freezing happens.  apparently there's a few things i still need to sort out.  hence this only being a beta/thread only release.  feel free to post when it does freeze though.  so far i have 'after a few matches' and 'using the Down B', even though the second one hasn't happened to me yet.

oh, and also post balancing notes if you feel so inclined.  otherwise, enjoy.
75  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Villager Joins the Brawl! -Video Preview added to OP- on: November 13, 2013, 06:27:37 PM
Can the Male Villager be over Lucas as well, or do you only want Female there? Because I had another character on Pit. If you don't want to, I understand, but it's just a small favor. c:

no, i put the Male model on Lucas too.  they're both on Ness and Lucas, just check the original download.  for the PSA, they're on Pit for now, as a port to another character has yet to be decided,  but will more than likely be the last thing that happens.

also, just waiting on a video or two to be posted, then i can release the Villager.  figured it'd be a good way to see what you're getting before downloading, or if you already have a Pit PSA that you don't feel like moving, as i'm sure a lot of people do.

also also, this.

based on today's daily pic of this

i was kind of thinking of doing it already, but that pretty well set the goal for me.
