I load it up from the stage builder, it gets to the black screen but it says it can't find boot.elf, USBGecko or codes, even though I have all of them. I'm pretty sure I have them in their right folders, too.


On my SD card root I have the following folders: 'brawlmods', 'riivolution' and 'private'.

In my 'brawlmods' folder is 'brawlminus' and 'texture' folders. The 'brawlminus' folder has the GCT and textures has all the 'pf' stuff.

In my 'riivolution' folder I have "boot.elf", "icon.png", "meta.XML", "modlauncher.XML" and "readme.txt".


So what's the problem here? What did I do wrong?

It appears my 2GB SanDisk SD card I've had for about three years is now perpetually locked meaning I can no longer make any modifications to the files within it nor can I save files in it.

I only have one other SD card which is a 4GB SanDisk SDHC card that I use to expand my camcorder's hard drive. Before I consider buying a new one, I want to know if I can still play and hack with this SD card? Or could someone list all the types of SD cards that are compatible with playing Brawl-?

Title.

I've had this SD card for about three years and it's been fine up until at least sometime after November 13th 2010 because that's when I installed Smash Stack and started hacking for the first time.

I use a 2GB SanDisk SD card made for Nintendo and a SanDisk MobileMate SD+ SD card reader since my computer is ancient and has no SD card slots so I have to use USB ports.

The stupid thing keeps sporadically write-protecting itself without me even touching the lock switch. I tried flicking the switch up before inserting it into my SD card reader and then down (locked) before inserting, but it made no difference where the switch was. I'll be modifying files or saving files to my SD card and it'll bring up an error that says the disk is write-protected and says I need to remove the write protection. Usually I can fix this by safely removing the hardware, then unplug it and replug it back into the USB and the write protection gets removed. However this time I've tried inserting the SD card reader about five different times and it's not changing!  Oh shi~

So I really need some help hear or I will never be able to add anymore hacks to my game anymore until I can get it to stop locking all the damn time.

What do you replace the XX value with? I just got a Windows XP texture and I'm using a .rel that came with it to use it over Smashville. But when I looked at my text file that contains the proper .pac naming, I saw "STGVILLAGE_xx.pac" and I don't know what to put in the Xs. I'm going to try 00, but I just need to know what it's for. Also I saw some other stages do this like STGMARIOPAST.pac.

When I touch a lighting bolt nothing happens -- people can walk right past it without triggering its effects. I think it might be the Items Never Disappear code that I have on -- could that be why I can't use the lightning bolt by touching it?

Edit: Oh, this also applies with Mushrooms, too. If they touch you, nothing happens. They just slide right on by.

This is rather a stupid and simple question, but I was recording a replay for someone who doesn't have hacked Brawl, and the replay had nametags; how is that possible? I didn't even load up Gecko so how are any of my codes like Save Tags In Replays even functioning?

I played a full 15-stock FFA match before with computers, and when I did another match the game froze in the middle of the match. Here's the characters and stage being used:


Characters:

-Gray Fox over MK PSA
-Zero Suit Samus with Nurse texture

-Mario with Phillies Phan texture and SMG2 PSA

I have it replacing Bridge of Eldin, but when I play on the level the rain is stiff/unanimated. I have Rainy Saffron City's rain working, but this stage's rain isn't.

I can't replace any CSP name texts like Marth with Sephiroth, Ike with Naruto, Meta-Knight with Gray Fox or Zero with Link or the game freezes upon clicking a mode that requires you to use the CSS. I can add CSPs and such but not text.

And YES before you even ask I made sure the text files where in I4 format and they are the exact same dimensions (144x##)  as the ones I'm replacing.

The sc_selcharacter pac is also 3.42 MB (3,596,456 bytes) before adding the Gray Fox text and 3.42 MB (3,595,929 bytes) after adding the text if that helps. As you can see the file size went down after adding the text so it can't be a limit issue and it can't be an issue with the text because it's I4 and it's 144x32 -- the same as MK's text. I've defragged my SD card yesterday (not that it needed to be accoring to the defragger) so the file sizes are not deceiving.

There is nothing else I can possibly think of that's causing the freezes.

Mine is 1.15 MB and it freezes before even loading the SSS. I had to take off my Ganon's Tower SSI and SSP I made last night (to go with Mewtwo2000's Ganon's Tower stage), and it resolved the problem.

Immediately after I click any mode that requires you to select your character, like Training Mode and Vs. Mode, it freezes before I even get a glimpse of the CSS. I spent a long, annoying time experimenting with removing and restoring my files and I came to the conclusion that it's definitely a problem with my sc_selcharacter.pac, but it's only 3.48 MB, so I don't understand why it freezes if I add more stuff and it still stays at 3.48 MB? And no none of the files were incorrectly made or corrupt. Also, can a sc_selcharacter.pac become corrupt and cause a freeze if edited too much? Because sometimes I feel it freezes because I replaced too much stuff in such little time.

After more experimenting it seems if I add any new CSP text, like Naruto text replacing Ike's for example, it will crash before even loading the CSS. The game runs fine if I don't replace any CSP text. The text was "Save As..."ed from KC:MM to my Desktop, and it's a 13 KB PNG file which should work because my Zero one did. What am I doing wrong?
