Hello...
I am SuperMario64DS, a Mario Kart Wii Hacker.
I have a rather long story regarding the issue I am experiencing, so please bare with me:
Okay, So I am porting the Level Delfino Plaza from Super Mario Sunshine to Mario Kart Wii. Mario Kart Wii uses BRRES and MDL0 Type 11.
Well, there is a program called "CTools", made for MKWii Hacking. It has an OBJ Importer for Custom MDL0s and TEX0s inside an BRRES.
Well, problem is, when I import the OBJ, Corna Mountain and all of it's surroundings turn a light Green, which is a UV Related Material editor in CTools.
Then, BrawlBox added support for Type 11 MDL0s. So I thought "Hey! I'll just use BrawlBox to make my model instead!" So I simply export the .DAE, and create a BrawlBox Model.
This model is perfect, not Errors at all. It even has an awesome shine effect. However, there is another problem.
You see, MKWii Courses need a KCL File for collision. The KCL and the BRRES need to be Perfect, they botn need to be positioned the same. Well, when I import my .dae into BrawlBox, it does not produce a model that simply matches my KCL, it is off too far.
This is where the problem begins.
So, my course and KCL Don't match... Well, there is another MKWii Program, called the SZS Modifier. It can generate KCLs based off of a MDL0 In a BRRES File.
So, I imported my BrawlBox BRRES into the SZS Modifier. However, the SZS Modifier does not detect any Polygons in a BrawlBox made BRRES for some reason, so I can't create a KCL.
So, I used the BRRES Veiwer to export my BRRES as a OBJ. I can use OBJs to create KCLs. However, the exported OBJ Is a little off, like you hit a Wall Well Before actually touching it.
Running this OBJ through Google Sketchup causes to become off-Balance, because the BRRES was made with a 3DS Max .dae. Running it through 3DS Causes the same effect. Exporting my .dae Model Directly from 3DS Max as an OBJ is also problematic.
Now, the end of this story.
So, I thought I could simply open up my CTools BRRES in BrawlBox and fix the Material Erros myself, because other MKWii Hackers can open a CTools BRRES in BrawlBox.
However, opening it in BrawlBox causes it to give me errors. Such as, I cannot open the MDL0, and I cannot save. Everyone else in the MKWii Hacking Communtiy can get a CTools BRRES to open a BrawBox, but I cannot.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.
Any solutions? All I need is a matching KCL/BRRES Duo with no material errors.
