How do I change a texture layout?

Hey I had an idea for a texture for the metal crate. I would like to change it so it says, "wayne tech" on the side" (lol)

this is the problem. for an easier example lets say I wanted to put the letters "bq" on the box. when I change the texture it will show "bq", however every OTHER side will show up as "pd"

I looked at the normal, wooden crate, and notice, that it does not do this, I have a mario ? block and it shows ? ? ? all around like it should. I cant simply copy the models, and change the metal box texture because the wooden box is way too square

I posted this before someone said "sounds like a UV problem" I thank them for the help they could give, however this still doesnt tell me much. please help
