Getting a model to have more than one texture

I need help with getting a model to have more than one texture. I'm trying to make the presents from Banjo-Kazooie as an item hack for the gift boxes. I want to replace all of the box models with the gift box model so people aren't forced to use only one at a time. I did all the renaming I thought I had to do, And in Brawlbox the boxes each have their own texture like they're supposed to. But in the game the boxes appear all glitchy. Only once have I seen a box appear textured correctly. So how can I replace all of the box models with the gift box model and have each one have It's own texture in-game?

It glitches almost everytime.

What It looks like seems to depend on what's loaded, And It copies the textures of a nearby character.

The one time It appeared correctly:

And everytime It appeared It only had that texture, It didn't use the others I had made.
