It says i need some sound.dat and sound.wav file but neither came in the package.  If someone has a premade viewtiful joe sound file I'd realy appreciate it.  If not could i get some directions?

Somebody didn't read the sound instructions properly Tongue

I'll quote it directly from the instructions and highlight the bit you need to pay attention to:

    Quote
    >>>>Sound Instructions<<<<

    Download Link for Swandz: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=290967
    Download Link for a clean smashbros_sound.brsar: http://www.mediafire.com/?unuztmtmgyy

OK, here's how you do it.

1.Back up the copy of your smashbros_sound.brsar
2.The smashbros_sound.brsar you are using goes in whatever folder Sawndz is in. (I'd highly recommend putting it in a new folder, as to not clutter up your desktop.)
3.Go into main replacements folder and rename the "sound #.wav" that you wanna convert to "sound.wav".
4.Move "sound.wav" file in the same folder Sawndz is in.
    5.Start up Sawndz.exe.
6.Click "LOAD" in the "SAVE" section.
7.Open the corresponding "character sound#.dat" file and load.
8.Press "convert & insert" and the sound will be inserted into the .brsar.
    9.Remove "sound.wav" from the folder.
10.Repeat this until all the sounds are in the .brsar, and you're all set!

Here's how to put in the hex packet, so you won't have to enter in all those sounds. Make sure you still have the smashbros_sound.brsar in the Sawndz folder.

1: Put 0BD0320.hex in the Sawndz folder.
    2: Open up Sawndz.exe.
3: Now copy the name of the hex packet, 0BD0320, and paste it in the "Offset of beginning" section.
4: Click insert, and open up 0BD0320.hex.
5: It will insert itself into the .brsar.

NOTE: You will have to follow the first steps to put in the wiimote and select screen sounds. They are not in the hex packet.

After you follow either of these procedures, just preview it in Smashbox v0.57, or test it in Brawl. Have fun!

The "sound.dat" and "sound.wav" are for if it were to be installed one sound at a time (which is what needs to be done for the wiimote sound and the character select sound).  It quite clearly says there "RENAME a sound to sound.wav".

but it only lets me load .dat files.

It goes into the "sound" folder if you haven't already figured it out. I don't mean that offensively, btw.
