Yeah, sometimes when loading a stage, it freezes when I select the stage, very very rarely, but point is it's happened with stages that I've played on before and while having selected characters that have been played on it before. Sometimes it freezes when force-ending a match. Sometimes it just freezes in the middle of a match, not dependent on a last-performed action not present in other freezes.

It's just completely random. I suspect the Space Colony Ark stage is an offender since I notice lag on it, so I might swap it out. I'm using 3 perfect port Marth rels, 3 perfect port Sonic rels, and 2 perfect port Ike rels, but I don't know if that would cause random freezing since I did them properly. The freezing has not always been there either. Sonic vs Shadow worked fine on Space Colony Ark before, and I've had a few Sonic vs Shadow fights on other stages too. I've held Luigi (Marth port) vs Peach (other Marth port) fights numerous times, but sometimes will freeze when loading a stage that I know works, and will work when I turn off and on my Wii again. I just... I hate not knowing what the cause is or not seeing a definite trigger. I feel like sometimes the coding just doesn't run right or something. I wish I knew some freeze triggers.

The only item I'm playing with is the Smash Ball, but I've used these hacks for a while and that's not the cause.

Note that every stage is hacked, with between 1 song changed or every song (only on a few with a lot of songs did I do this). Every character costume, sans for default Pikachu, has a model/texture hack. I have revamped my entire Brawl game. Only hacked stages and hacked music exists (I turned off the non-hacked tracks), and most character costumes hacked. There is also a PSA on everyone barring Pikachu (looking into one for a different Final Smash). However, I have had my Brawl like this for a little bit now. All I've so far done was change what textures I'm using or what character they're on (due to the clone ports), but kept the number of hacks the same. I've only hacked models, textures, PSAs, stage models/textures, the CSS to have Giga Bowser, and stage tracks. Nothing else. I don't care for portraits. The CSS never freezes on me now like it used to (with different codes). Thanks to the perfect port modules, the only codes I have are the ones for the CSS and Giga Bowser (don't use Warioman fix or Alloy result poses since I'm not gonna use them and haven't used them), file patch 3.5.1, unrestricted camera, start match with 1 player, longer replays than 3 minutes, Luigi and Diddy have no crawl, and Dedede has normal jump.

I've been getting rid of stuff I don't need on the SD card, hoping they are the cause of the freezing. The Wii was hacked for me, so the SD already had stuff on it, like the common3 and common4 pac files. The gct has been changed, the rest of the pf folder has been changed, sans for the Zero over Link PSA and the Cloud PSA, and Gray Fox over Metaknight.

Knowing this, do I really still need that common3 or common4 pac? Would it be bad to delete it? My SD card is already backed up several times, in several places, at different stages of development. I just felt like I should ask first before doing anything. Considering the common3 and common4 pac files have been on the SD card before I changed all the hacks, I'm not sure if I need them. I feel like their existence on my card now might be messing with the hacks I have on now. I know Bowser had no animations without hacks on him (t pose) and that the common4.pac is responsible for that (has his motions in it). I had to give him a new PSA for him to have animations.

Could I just safely get rid of those 2 common pacs? Are the essential? Will everything just freeze up if I do? with this, I have no clue.

When did you last edit the gtc file? I don't know what edits the common pacs contain but if they're csp edits then that would be the common3.pac. What was the last thing you added to the SD card also?

I'm always adding or moving stuff, like changing who's ported over who. I used perfect ports now though, and removing the common pacs didn't do anything negative that I can see. When I switched to the perfect Sonic port for DK last night, it would freeze going to the result screen every time, so I switched back and just used soundbank codes. I might have messed up in the module editor. With the gct I've only been editing it via testing with removing the IC-Constant codes/soundbank codes with the perfect modules to see if they worked. Eventually found the set of codes that worked. Sometimes the freeze happens without these characters, so I don't blame the modules since they do work. I think I'm gonna try some random matches and then controlled matches with certain characters on certain stages. The changes I made might have balanced it out. Ever since I took out those common pacs.

Are you using gecko to load it? I had the same problem with gecko but I figured out how to fix it.

Frequently changing the files around on your SD card can wear it out after a while, you may just want to get a new one and copy your files over (worked for me)

Would this also work for the message saying Wii system files are corrupt? I got this message, but loaded it up again and everything works fine. I talk about it in my new thread. I feel like I should be worried, though I didn't really do anything to my Wii since last time...

Also yeah I'm using Gecko. Haven't really had the freezing anymore, but I'm thinking about getting a new card, or using this other one I have. The one I'm using was given to me by the person who originally hacked my Wii, so who knows how old it is.

Go to your st folder and delete the file in it. Getting rid of it stops the freezing.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have a stage folder. Just al, pf, and rp, and only the pf has anything in it, and the al sometimes when I take my snapshots before converting them :/
