reasons why game freezes at stage selection.

I dont know what I did wrong but my game freezes after I select a stage. I think its due to the gct. file only because things were ok till i added more codes but even after deleting them it still happened. Any thoughts would help.

You got hacks using Smash Stack? The bin file found in the st folder is the reason. Either rename the folder it's in, or remove it altogether. You will need that file if you're loading hacks using SmashStack.

Then again, you did say things were fine before... in which case, I wouldn't know the cause...

Did you add any new character hacks? And if so, do you try to start the match with that specific character? Or in any case, each time you load a stage, is it with the same character and costume involved?

Or, are you picking the same stage each time? It could be an individual hack that's corrupted. It happens.
