Help using blender

Hey, I want to use blender to edit zero suit samus's model some but I don't really know how. I mean like how to import it. Cause when I import the 3ds file it just shows up as nothing.

It would help if this area of the forum had an I duno HELP section -_-;; then we wouldn't have this problem....
