Just use a hex editor to remove the polygons for the crown and its jewels.  There are four polygons involving the crown; two for the head, and two for the left hand (when the f-air is used).

At least I have a hex editor to do the job.  I'll be glad to help remove the crown from your Cynthia texture.  I'll also PM the modified MDL0 file to you when it's done.

I wouldn't worry about that; I recently modified the Cynthia model so that she's now crownless, and gave the model edits to DMN afterwards.
