Noob help

I am trying to help my friend hack brawl he has 4.3 and I'm trying to help. I had a different menu version and mine worked cause i used bannerbomb. I Tried to use smash stack and it keeps freezing his sd card was blank (not sure if this matters) so I'm confused can someone help I followed every step what is the problem? I urgently need help.

I have no knowledge of homebrew loading although you could use the method use here:http://balancedbrawl.net/downloads-instructions/
Place what inside the Balanced brawl folder onto the sd Root
But you have to go to the stage builder every time you play

I helped a friend do that same thing. We used the Indiana Pwns hack to give him Homebrew, so if you have a copy of Lego Indiana Jones than I recommend that. If you don't have Lego Indiana Jones, than it won't help you.
