WOW am I lost when it comes to these two things.

I downloaded all of the character texture files I wanted. I've successfully replaced them in the Fighter folders, however, when it comes to having matching Character Selection Screen Portraits and In-Battle Screen Portraits WITH these textures, I am completely lost.

Here's the genesis of my problem: I got into hacking by downloading a "starter pack" that already included all necessary downloads. It included several Character Texture packs, with CSP's and BSP's that matched them. However, I didn't like some of the textures, so I attempted to replace them with ones I prefer. I'm always successful in replacing the textures, but the CSP & BSP is STILL the CSP & BSP that the starter pack came with.

For example, the starter pack had a Ho-Oh Falco texture over his Green Costume that I didn't like. His CSP & BSP matched the Ho-Oh texture. I currently replaced a Zant texture over Falco's Green Costume (FitFalco02.pac & FitFalco02.pcs) http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=13108. However, instead of Falco's Zant costume appearing as the CSP, the original Starter Pack CSP of Ho-Oh Falco is still there!

Here's the issue: I've opened the sc_selcharacter.pac in the menu2 folder, thinking maybe I have to manually change each CSP/BSP (lemme know if this isn't true), but when I look at the Textures Folder (NW4R) for the MiscData files, they're all SSBB's ORIGINAL CSP's-- NOT the ones this Starter Pack download has. Is this right? Or is there some other overriding file I may be missing?

Please don't point me to the tutorials, all of them don't pertain to my particular situation and haven't helped me so far.

check the common5.pac, if they included one. it should be in the systems folder

Ah, THERE'S the file I want. I see the Starter Pack's CSP textures now.

So I'm assuming that CSP's and BSP's can only be replaced through PNG (or I guess TGA too?) files? In other words, if the Character Texture download doesn't include a PNG pic... ya gotta make your own?

PNG's work the best. and make sure the pic is 128x160.

if its a JPEG or GIF, it may not be supported by brawlbox, or it may make the filesize too big

    OK, sure! Smiley

Just one last question-- for In-Battle Screen Portraits, I know you have to go into pf/info/portrite, then select the right InfFace brres file and replace it, my question is...

...is there any way to determine which number files goes for which character? I'm seeing somewhere close to 500 and have no idea which numbers go to which characters.

That's ok! I actually realized that it's the same as the CSP's--just look at the first two numbers of the file.

    Again, thanks for your help!
