I tried looking this up, but even the most basic tutorials failed to have important details.
How exactly do I replace Brawl's opening cutscene with the THP I have now? I don't know where the file goes, or what to do with it, or anything.

The cutscenes should land in pf/movie folder, I believe.
I'm not sure if it's compatible with File Patch Code.

this, i made my own custom intro featuring master chief, mewtwo, altair and a lot of other sexy vertexes. File Patch Code will not work with it, use riivolution, then it works. |

into is named OPmovie.thp, like shadowsnake said, it will not work with gecko, you have to use riivolution.

Wait, if i have the file patch code and riivolution, is it still supposed to work? Cuz its got no effect on the opening movie....
it's in
F:/brawlmods/custom1/movie/OPMovie.thp
Does it need to have a lowercase m?

Read nerdwithafro's post on smash boards about thp making. He also explains how to get it working without riivolution.

I just downloaded Riivolution...again.
And I can honestly say, I REALLY don't see what's so different from Gecko. The game STILL freezes when I highlight Lucas or add a certain stage I want in a custom slot.

Because there is something wrong with your Lucas mods or stages in custom slots.
Riivolution allows you to replace every single file on the discs, while File Patch Code is limited.

1. Download BeyondYou's Riivo XML, located in the Vaults
2. Then, make the following file paths in your SD card:
SD://private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/movies/OPMovie.thp (since thats the movie file for the intro)
Now, if you get any issues with loading the movie. Then somethings wrong with the thp
