So, I've been hearing about this SmashBox, but what exactly is it? What's the difference between it and ASH and STASH? Is it better in general, or are there some things I'll need ASH for?

Smashbox allows you to look at all the different files in a .pac or .pcs file. You can also texture hack bosses and trophies with Smashbox so you can hack more things with It. It's really great for CSPs too, You can use normal transparency so you no longer have to worry about Magenta lines, And you can have an index as big as 256. However It is recommended to index them before inserting them with Smashbox because some of them look like crap If you don't do that first. Also Smashbox still doesn't work with everything quite yet. For example even though you can texture hack trophies with Smashbox I've only been able to edit one without the game freezing when I look at It. And even that one freezes when I try look at It in diorama mode. Also I noticed that some texture hacks will look better If you use ash, So If you care enough about quality It's probably better to use ash unless what you are trying to edit can't be made with ash. Smashbox also makes files faster than ash so If you're making a texture hack that requires only one texture to be changed this It's really convenient.

So, if want to edit a texture, I just right click and extract it as a .png? Then how to I turn it back into a .pac?

Wait, wait, wait, did you just say... NORMAL TRANSPARENCY?! YESZ! I've been waiting for that for a while! Can you use normal transparency on +2 textures too? But, when you say that sometimes the quality is lower, what do you mean?

IT RULES!!! Forget ASH! Just use ASH to extract your textures then edit them. Open up SmashBox and open the .pac file then replace the deafult textures with the edited textures you made. Trust me I had problems with a Sonic texture, you can ask MNSG, and I did that on SmashBox and I fixed it. Because my Sonic had his eyes missing and SmashBox helped me. Forget ASH use SmashBox! Thanks for your time XD

You can make Fox's visor semi-transparent with SmashBox, which is something that ASH can't pull off. Also, mipmapping issues are fixed up with SmashBox, so it's now possible to edit things like Kirby's Mario Cap, Pokemon Trainer's Poke Ball, and Ganondorf's hand without any messups when you zoom out.
Of course, alternating between ASH and SmashBox can be pretty handy too; use ASH to edit the normal textures, and SmashBox to edit the indexed textures.

Holy fudge, I just edited the menu texture! SmashBox is epic. I'm a Mewtwo PSA user, so I changed the text that says Lucario (in front of the csp and on the small icon) to say "Mewtwo." I even hacked the little rectangle itself (not the csp, but the tile thing) to show Mewtwo. All I need now is to hack the Announcer's voice...

SmashBox opens up so many possiblilities. Too bad it didn't have good publicity. It was really only advertised on small teams.
