figuring out CSP

I'm trying to use custom character portraits, but the game freezes when I try to Brawl. I tried using Common5.pac and selcharacter.pac, but it just freezes on me. What am I doing wrong?

are u trying to use both?

try putting an unedited common5.pac in and seeing if it works.  if it does, add one csp and see if that causes it to freeze.  if it doesnt proceed from there

What kind of Portraits are you using? Downloaded ones your ones made by yourself?

I'm making my own, but I know i'm doing something wrong.  I tried following a guide, but I must've messed up in the process. (yeah, I know I fail)
btw, I use Gimp.(most people use Photoshop)

Index Color 156, size 128x160, after you make it like this (CSS Portrait) try them again.
