Hi, I have seen a code floating around that mods custom victories in independent of their shared series. but I wondered, is it possible to do it without the code?
that answer is yes!
here's how to do it:
*note, we will not be adding brstms to the game, we will be stealing sourcing from the uselesss subspace brstms and making use of two unused brstms in the game which are x24 and 000.
this method does not edit the sound groups at all so sawnd files cannot be made for this.
You will need just a BRSAR so let's get started:
open your brsar in brawbox . *version 0.70
now ignoring the group table on the right, we are going to go straight to the folder with the Z series in them located in snd/bgm/ not the snd in all caps
choose the Zxx folder corresponding the character victory you want to change/isolate from the series (eg: peach) and leave it open for later, right now, we are going to pick a brstm slot to use our victory over
You may locate any brstm slot that you do not use (or the stages themselves don't use (this includes the menus))
unused brstm #1
unused brstm #2: subspaces:
once you have decided on what slot you want to use with the victory, copy the contents of the green box in the slot you choose (there are more than the three examples to choose from!)
and paste it in the green box for the victory slot (F[chara])
repeat for more characters, you cant use the same slot again unless you want multiple characters of your choice to share the same victory song so you can shake things up here if you please
once you are finished, save
put your brsar on your SD card and load up the game.
===to load it=== >Riivolution *sorry guys, there is no pointer code at this time and I am not a code creator. I have only a wiiU to test with
How to change it:
1)open your brsar in brawlbox 2) in the folders, locate a brstm you want to use to replace the starman with, in this case, we are going to use x24
go to snd>bgm>x24>HOWTOPLAY
3) that group id "[xxx]strm/x24.brstm" COPY it
4)go to snd>seq>item>starman
5)replace the [xxx]grp/seqblahblahblah with the brstm pointer we copied in step 3
6) change sound type in the properties box there from SEQ to STRM
7) set volume value to 255
8 ) change pan mode to balance
9) scroll down the properties to rsar STRM info and set chanalloccount to 2, and trackflag to 1
10)under the rseq info the 0000 00 0 00 00111 etc., change all that to 0
11) the seq starter that says SMF_blahblah, copy that, we are going to look for it in hex edit, save (brawlbox)
12) close brawlbox and open the brsar in hex edit
13) CTRL+F and paste the seq starter entry brawlbox wont let us change from step 11
14) the first instance of it, delete it (BY REPLACING THEM WITH ALL hex ZEROS, DO NOT REMOVE THE BYTES!)
15) save
BRSTMS:
put the new starman music brstm in your modlauncher location (usually pf/sound/strm) as x24.brstm
put the brsar in the sound folder (or where your modlauncher expects it to be)
DONE! enjoy the starman
YOU CANNOT USE GECKO TO LOAD THIS!! THERE IS NO SAWND FILE FOR POINTER/DATABASE ENTRIES, ONLY RBNK and RSWND GROUPS THAT HAVE WAVE DATA IN THEM THERE IS NO CODE FOR THIs, (i am assuming based on the fact, nobody modded the starman)
SO! BACK TO RIIVO YOU RIIVO DITCHING NOOBS MUAHAHA!!!!
**disclaimer: I am not a code maker, DO NOT ASK ME TO MAKE GECKO CODES THAT POINT THIS, if there was one, You would NOT be able to CHOOSE what brstm you use to replace the SEQ with
well not exactly as in looking for something floating around that works, but rather the possibility that one can program a homebrew app, that acts like riivolution, but does NOT use an IOS exploit to load the modded files, but rather "installing an SD driver" before loading the game so that the game itself is taught to load the mods itself (not gecko codes).
on the MKW hacking community, yet again mr.bean has figured out the way to loading his mods on a wii, new wii model, AND wiiU, using the smash stack exploit, which still seems to work on the wiiU.
the thing is, we could expand on who can NOW play modded brawl based on the system model they have.
i'm just wondering what people think about this possibility to brawl hacking
this is the SAMe mr bean im talking about that can expand a roster without the use of codes and make mods
well, decided to make another tool LOL... what sparked it's creattion was some noob was [censored]ing on smashboards that someone else's GUI didn't take prefixes into account and that batch renaming doesn't work.
UPDATE!!! added drag and drop support, if you CANT find your wav through the dialogs, you can simply drop your wav onto the icon (OPEN WITH) or open that wav with THP GUI (be careful NOT to set THP GUI as the default program for wav files ) if you drop a file onto THP GUI's icon, it will auto-copy it when it launches
This is the GUI for THPConv. If you followed my sony vegas guide, this tool would be most useful to you since it auto-renames the JPEGs then auto-CMDs THPConv.exe
UPDATE 12/18/2013: Program now works from directories with spaces in their names
1) cram your JPEGs into the THP folder it creates on launch 2)Load the sound associated with it 3)fill in the fields (leave prefix blank if you made your video with SUPER) 4) press start to pla... I mean Convert
because batch renaming line of code is a loop until y is met, it will hang if you have a bajillion jpegs. It will also disable itself while THPConv is doing it's thing
when it is done, by default, it will spit out the finnished product out from the THP folder, and delete all the jpegs and the wav in there (you can turn the auto-delete off in the settings menu under about)
I have added one-touch EVERYTHING for the *PROS* (where you DROP a FOLDER on it and it does the rest from there - GIVEN your numbered JPEGS and "sound.wav" is in there Enjoy.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO BRAWL HACKING, PRESS F1 IN THE PROGRAM AND READ, before complaining to me it's not working
IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DOWNLOADED THIS, PLEASE REDOWNLOAD AS THERE WAS A CRITICAL UPDATE TO THE STAGE PORTING FEATURE INVOLVING A TYPO IN THE REL NAMES Download
UPDATE: you can now associate a .sawnd file with BFC for one-touch SD BRSAR updating! all you'd have to do is open the .sawnd file, and everything from backups to putting the brsar on your SD card is taken care of automatically - To use this feature you will have to RESELECT your SD drive letter AND region, the program now saves a copy of that data to the system registry as the DRIVESAV file also worked the way emulator savestates do - which would bypass the brsar-handling lines of code
SAWNDZ IS REQUIRED TO UTILIZE THE ONE-TOUCH FEATURE - BFC only send the command-line arguments to sawndz
well with this program I aim to eliminate all questions from noobs about what to call the file or where to place it, this is a step up from the brstm copier and deals with the rest of the hacks!
Version History: V2.2 Added the ability to operate sawndz.exe by double clicking a .sawnd file - this will REALLY pamper the noobs now.. though I STILL recommend using sawndz- the auto sawndz feature is ONLY for sfx downloaders, not creators V2.1 Fixed a typo in the rel variable for STGORPHEON as it was set at DXSTADIUM LOL FAIL =P Fixed the paramaters for manual rar-extraction override as it wasn;t making the folder to extract to as it was a picky ass command-line and wanted backslashes
V2.0 Added stage Porting (BETA) Added auto rar extraction to uncompress the bajillion RELs from the application Added RAR-extract manual overide, Type unrar and the easter egg trigger handler will bring the dialogs up Corected some REL names as there is only ONE REL per stage, despite a few having 3 stage files for them Fixed a typo in some of the variables dealing with stage copying as I accidentally left out .PAC from the name added another easter egg, it requires a specific hardware plugged in for the eggs to trigger (restart the application after unplugging it to undo) V1.2 added Battle Portrite copy feature (BRRES selection) added strap copying added menu copying added common5.pac and common3.pac copying BRSAR and THP actions now indicate that it is copying Fixed unset region bug, region folder was not set set upon first time using the program, it now sets RSBE (USA) as the default region upon first load V1.1 added NTSC-J and PAL riivo configurations to the riivo option; fixed the eater egg intication; added 1 easter egg V1.0 (Initial Release)
*it is unconfirmed that a USB card reader might not work with this and the BRSTM copier and presents a windows No Disk error
what it does is takes a chosen file, and copies it to the SD (or other drive) in the correct place with the correct name.
WARNING! don't go selecting let's say, an stage hack, BRSAR, CSP/BP, THP and then attempt to send it to the wrong place (E.g: select a stage, and put it in a fighter location), you will cause brawl to crash
also, for noobs, listen up,if you wan't to copy a stage over anywhere else but the original base, select your choice in STAGE then select the BASE STAGE HACK WAS INTENDED FOR under the PORT STAGE option, you will be warned only once, and the copy will take place automatically, and if a hack inclused a blahblahlbah.rel file, you are to select that and choose "REL" in the program before copying
misuse of the program may ruin your enjoyment of brawl as it will go BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
unlike the other programs for brawl hacking, this one has something unique about it... depending on the keyboard activity, different things will change in the program
example, type "ssbm" to change the background.... (good luck figuring out the rest)
[color=limegreenIf you find bugs or problems, post them here, and PM me the game_error_log.txt file. the route values update every time the left mouse button is pressed[/color]
below is a copy of the in-program manual:
DEH MANUAL Program by Diddy Kong Version 1.0
If you are new to brawl hacking, READ everything, or you will run into problems
**keep track of your setup, the program does not check if a file already exisits before writing, if one exists, it will be overwritten without notifying you
This program will copy any brawl hack and name/place them in the correct areas of your SD card, you just need to work with the correct ones (E.g: by not selecting a stage hack and then choosing to place it on a fighter costume, this is nonsense and will crash brawl upon load)
Keep in mind what character the hack was intended for, and this program will NOT "port" a character to work over another one, it only copies them and renames them (if the hacker say, called the link hack "myawesomehax.pac" instead of "fitlink00.pac")
*Keep in mind you should ONLY choose PCS copying for a PCS file, we can run into problems if I simply change the file type (I cannot make a safety net for brainless noobs yet because I don't know how to make it detect only the ending part of the file (where the type information is) and compare it to what it's about to do)
How to use:
1) set the drive where the SD is located using the blue SD card icon
2)click load file and choose a brawl hack (BRSTMs are excluded, I already have a program that deals with that and I don't have the source code for it to integrate into this one)
3a) fighter: click fighter, and select the character that hack was created for (this program does NOT convert or port PSAs, Models, or textures) then choose the color/costume to replace (costumes don't matter, as long as the character chosen matches the one the hack is for) select the file's type (PAC or PCS - this MUST match) If you are unsure of the costume option, pick original (which will overwrite the previous costume for that character)
3b) Stage: Left click for brawl stages, right click for melee stages. Choose the stage the hack was made for (CHECK THE PORT SECTION OF THIS GUIDE TO USE A STAGE OVER ANY OF YOUR CHOICE), and choose the file's type (PAC for the stage, REL for the porting file)
3c) SFX: select the smashbros_sound.brsar file and it will be copied right away
3d) Movie hacks: select the THP, then choose what movie to replace, there will be a limited option as the subspace movies are 99% ignored when a hack is made. KEEP NOTE OF THE LENGTH OR INSTRUTIONS BY THE UPLOADER, BRAWL WILL CRASH AT THE END IF A LONG HACK IS PUT OVER A SHORT MOVIE
3e) CSS/item hacks: before taking a single item and copying it, STOP. you must insert it into the common3.pac file with brawlbox FIRST. Choose the common5 or common3 file, click Common and choose 5 for CSS, 3 for items
3f) Menu/strap: Load a menu or strap hack, then click on Menu or Strap respectively
4)click copy (or move) and you are done for that file
STAGE PORTING: 1) click stage, and select the stage you with to replace with the hack 2) click Port Stage and choose ORIGINAL STAGE the hack was designed for 3) the rel used to port the stage will be copied, and then your download will be copied over to that stage
*DO NOT go porting while you have a fighter file loaded, The stage porter only supports NTSC as the preset files are for NTSC, You will need to extract the contents of PORT.rar to the program's directory (Auto-extract has NOT been implimented - unrar.exe is being a [censored] with the paramaters)
Credit goes to libertyernie for his auto-edited rel application, so I could package all combinations into the program, Disclaimer: this program is in no way meant to replace or compete with his rel-porter, this is in place for the LAZY ASS people
FAQ/troubleshooting:
Q:I got a pcs file, and chose fighter PAC, brawl now goes BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, WTF!? A: like I stated above, DO NOT choose a PCS file, then have it copied as a PAC, the extension MUST MATCH,
Q:the hack is not working, or goes BEEEEEEE after selecting a stage or going to brawl/classic/HRC/training! A: either you caused extension crossover (PAC to PCS or vice versa), OR (most likely) it's a bad hack, turn it's ass in by returning to the hack page, and reporting it. (if you use gecko and go to report SFX not working or movie not working, STOP SFX and THPs DO NOT WORK UNDER GECKO you must use riivolution, click Riivolutionize my SD to switch over to the riivo setup (you will not need to do anything on your part for the switch), you then run brawl through riivolution instead of gecko or ocarina, your cheat codes will still be loaded.
Q: I keep getting the welcome message / my last drive used keeps resetting! A: Do not delete the DRIVESAV.sav file, this is loaded upon program launch
Q:where is the BRSTM copy option? A:I have a program for that already, when you launch this one, BRSTM copier.exe will appear in the same folder as this one, use that, it's stable and bug-free, I don't want to recode it from scratch and have bugs up the ass to deal with just to have it integrated in this one
Q:brawl not loading hax! A: well, to start, are you using a non SDHC card? 4GB and up is NOT supported by brawl. second, are you usisng the correct FPC or even copying for the correct region? if you are in europe, you shouldn't be putting things in RSBE folder, it shold be RSBP, set the right region. *SFX and VOICE hacks do NOT work with gecko, same goes for movie hacks, if VOICE and SFX is your peoblem, then riivolutionize your SD
Q: my friend tried this and it wouldn't launch, it said something about Direct X or 3D or some other jazz...uh... DRAWING SURFACES. A:please refer to the same issue happening with Sawndz, the computer has to be able to launch games, this program runs of a code pattern used by games and requires a graphics card with 3D blending, (dunno what that means? in other words, get a better computer)
Q:(question/answer hidden so the in-program one's joke will work) I will List what files are encoded in this program: -RSBE.xml (riivo file) -Beyondriivolution.xml (riivo file) (+JAP and PAL versions) -codehandler.bin (ocarina file) -codes.xml (riivo file) -boot.elf (riivolution) -icon.png (riivolution homebrew icon) -meta.xml (riivolution description for homebrew) -BRSTM Copier.exe (my BRSTM copier, this will not be deleted when you exit the program) -unrar.exe (obvious what this is for) -PORT.rar (stage porting depends on this)
still chickening? L2HACK brawl noob!
Q:WTF are all these files that popped up when I opened the program? A:those are riivolution's files, they are there so the program can riivolutionize your SD card so you can load Voice or movie hacks as they do not work with gecko, they will be removed when either: you riivolutionize OR you close the program, they will ALWAYS be unloaded when you run it, but they are removed on program exit to take away the excess files that didn't copy over or if you never use them
Q: where is hanebow what'sitcalled in the list? A: it's the one labeled The [censored]ty stage
Q: [censored]ING UPSIDE DOWN WHATTHE[censored]!! A: April fools!! type reset and it will go back to normal within 10 seconds, to reactivate it, type aprilflip, typing reset will undo all easter eggs
Q: wait what, there are easter eggs in the program? A: yes, but I am not telling you what to do to trigger them, some say its the keyboard... feel free to discuss them in the program's thread LOLOLOL!
Q: I want BRSTM copying WHERE THE HELL IS IT! A: i already said it's a separete program... are you lazy? hold control and press B
Q: wait, if this thing can copy the BRSAR to the SD card, sawndz can back it up, why wasn't sawndz programmed to copy it to SD? A: because detecting the SD card and obtaining it's drive letter can't be programmed in GML and programming the drive selection is drafting away from BRSAR-editing in the programming, hence why it wasn't embedded in sawndz.. wait why would you ask me this, jaklub made sawndz, not me lolololol, although the sawndz GUI was built under the same coding this, and the brstm copier was, GML. It would be really cool though if sawndz had that for one-touch SD updating.
Q: can I patch sfx? A:no, please use sawndz for that, I am NOT permitted to copy jaklub's code so don't ask me to integrate BRSAR patching.
T1: program complains about my choice being the main disk for the computer S: it is only advising you that that will NEVER be the route to an SD card, you can still use it, the hacks will appear in the private folder in your C drive, nothing bad.
T2: I am getting a message about the D drive being one I shouldn't touch, WHY?! what where!? S: on almost all HP computers, the disk is seen as 2 drives by the computer, the D drive area contains information you would find on the factory reset disk, if you have a built-in recovery disk in the computer, DO NOT USE THIS DRIVE you could damage the factory reset files and will have to spend money on a new computer or repairman fees if you get a perma virus, Perma Blue screen of death, or some other use-breaking crap. other than that, if you don't have the recovery section, by all means use it
T3: It's not letting me copy anything now.. A: I programed a little disk check, if you have less than 16MB of free space left, it will not let you copy anything, besides, what more hax besides a few texture hacks would fit with 16MB? You can get a bigger SD (up to 2 GB) or free up some space, which probably has to do with vault data located in RSBE>al (st / rp) or perhaps you have a bajillion homebrew apps? dedicate another SD to the apps useless to brawl or HD replays
T4: somethings not right, 2 or more options do/copy/name the exact same thing... S: I have about 800 lines of code to double check, there is a high chance I missed or. overlooked something, let me know in the programming thread about it, in the meantime, ONLY IF YOU KNOW GML, you can overide the program's coding and execute the...correct code...your...self... wait wouldn't it be faster to manually name the file anyway? well if you are a brawl hack noob, but know GML, you might have a chance, or end up turning this program into a jukebox WTF LOL BBQ
Hold CTRL and HOME simutaneously to bring up the code execution dialog, type the code in to be carried out, bue careful, if you recklessly use this or make a mistake in the file commands, you might delete something important ANYTHING YOU DO WITH THIS FEATURE IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK and I am not to blame for your actions using the code executer
if you MUST know the file-handling variables, ask me in the thread, though I don't know why you would need them in the first place...
T5: it's not copying to my SD! S1: are you SURE a valid drive is selected? if the free space meter reads -1bytes, the disk is either corrupted or inexistent. select another drive. S2: Are you sure the drive is the SD's root?
T6: Riivolution doesn't WORK! / hax don't load / I freeze at the strap screen! A1: you need a special setup for Brawl Plus, if this is your case, this program is useless to you. A2: if you are NOT using Brawl plus or Brawl Minus, and are having issues, then I am afraid, you are one of those few unlucky people who can't use riivo for anything, Do an ISO inject or stick without the VOICE/THP hacks (I cannot Help you with ISO injection).
T7: Stage Porter is not copying the REL!, it copied the PAC file though. S: did you delete anything in the STGPORT folder? if you did, delete the battlefield folder in there, and the next time to attempt to port a stage, it will restore the files (answer yes to all in the CMD window); or delete the STGPORT folder altogether and the files will be restored, A check for the battlefield folder within the STGPORT folder is performed every time before letting you pick the base stage and extracts them from the RAR file is it doesn't exsist
Change Log: V2.0 Added stage Porting (BETA) Added auto rar extraction to uncompress the bajillion RELs from the application Added RAR-extract manual overide, Type unrar and the easter egg trigger handler will bring the dialogs up Corected some REL names as there is only ONE REL per stage, despite a few having 3 stage files for them Fixed a typo in some of the variables dealing with stage copying as I accidentally left out .PAC from the name added another easter egg, it requires a specific hardware plugged in for the eggs to trigger (restart the application after unplugging it to undo) V1.2 added Battle Portrite copy feature (BRRES selection) added strap copying added menu copying added common5.pac and common3.pac copying BRSAR and THP actions now indicate that it is copying Fixed unset region bug, region folder was not set set upon first time using the program, it now sets RSBE (USA) as the default region upon first load V1.1 added NTSC-J and PAL riivo configurations to the riivo option; fixed the eater egg intication; added 1 easter egg V1.0 (Initial Release)
Things I might add: automatic stage copy (automatically detects stage destination on card)
Ok, now if you are a noob and can't get your music hacks to work because you didn't name it correctly, and/or are too lazy to look up a list, then this thing is for you!
VERSION 4.0 [MISC] Added an extended MP3 converter to convert brstms into extended MP3s to play on your iPod or other music player
[BRAWL] Added Tutorial mode (no excuse now for noobs finding the app too hard to use)
FULL sawnd bank engine mod support, program now auto renames sawnd files for you for what group its supposed to replace ( users dont get to pick who because sawnd data is group-specific) program can detect group ID from sawnd files
projectM and RSBE code sawnd install supported!
ADDED a "what do I name this sawnd file?" option in the wrench menu so you don't need to ask us what its for or what to name it
*you must set brstm copier as the default program for opening sawnd files first and set your region, SD root, and weather its gecko, riivo, or projectM mods being used simply double click the sawnd file by itself, and BOOM! insta install no extra work needed ( DOES NOT WORK WITH ROY AND MEWTWO GROUPS FOR PROJECTM SAWND FILES) group ID of sawnd file must be two letters max
VERSION 3.3 [BRAWL] Extended sawnd support! you can associate the copier with sawnd files so you can open them right from your desktop to have them installed to the brsar I need help with getting the group IDs from sawnd files (sawndz seems to know the group ID just by reading the sawnd files) so i can have the copier auto rename them and put them in the SFX folder [BRAWL] ADDED a new save feature. the last used root, region, and modset type preferences will also be saved to candy.bin so they can be pulled up when you boot the program with sawnd files
VERSION 3.2 [GLOBAL] rick rolled version (timed to automatically fire april 1st, might fire on another song next year)
VERSION 3.1 rev 3 [MKW] Revised built-in instruction book, adding a note on BRSTM's [BRAWL] added more BETA coding in preparation for a new preference save method [UI] coding for playing audio implimented (currently not public access, it runs on its own on certain days) if you can access the debug box, you can force it to play it and even replace the audio data in it
VERSION 3.1 rev 2 [MKW] Added a CTGP SD save fix tool for users who are experiencing new saves in the new CTGP 1.03 [MKW] BRSAR Patcher modified to patch for FF FF FF instead of 03 C0 00 [MKW] BRSAR Patching procedure modified to loop a routine check until the BRSTM's are moved to a location where the patcher can properly patch the files
VERSION v3.0 [MKW] BRSAR patcher doesnt corrupt the BRSAR anymore (doesnt patch modded brsars) [MKW] final lap generator enabled by default Project M 3.0 support Minor tweeks to the engine
planned for future release: a) GCT/Riivolution configuration install for new users
b) TUTORIAL MODE: the "setup wizard" version of copying brstms
This should ELIMINATE all nooby questions about brstms on the SD
Select the ROOT LETTER of your SD card, click the flag and choose region before use
What this program does is asks you for a BRSTM OR SAWND file, then you pick a song NAME from the Stage-select icon
if you are sawnd injecting, click insert after
if you are installing brstms, click copy to SD and DONE!
screenshots for MKW mode:
this program tells you (at least tries to guess) what Type of drive is selected based on how much capacity is has.
you want to have the BLUE SD icon shown (for gecko or riivo),or green SDHC (riivolution only), if the HDD, or micro chip icon shows, you might have the wrong drive
it ALSO tells you how much space is left on the card and draws a bar to show it. the program autosaves when you change the drive letter so it will remember the last drive selected next time you run it.
if you JUST want to set up the folder tree for BRSTMs, the create folders button will do that.
for noobiest of the noobs: *MAKE SURE YOUR REGION FLAG IS CORRECT (IT WILL LOOK FOR RSBE/RSBP/RSBJ depending on the flag shown) *you DO NOT need to worry about the regional setting when dealing with project M, project M support can be activated via the wrench menu by changing modset
1) click blue SD icon and choose the drive letter your SD is on 2) click the select file button and choose BRSTM 3) Click set title button and choose the song it will go over 4) CLICK copyyou are done (unless you have a failed SD)
if you need more help or more notes on the system press F1 for the enclosed instruction book
STILL need help, press F1 ,
STILL STILL need help? BOO! go learn more
here is a copy of the in-app manual:
VERSION HISTORY: 1.0 | Initial Release 2.1 | Bug fixes, MKW Support AUTO-HEXING - this only works with MKW mode SAWND support (auto backup, auto inject) hack delete option (if you want to revert to original) hidden feature that is pointless UI Unified 2.3 | Pitch shifting feature fully functional and enabled! hidden feature thats pointless enabled - dont blame me for undercooking your steak on april.... Program now cleans up all the way (except for Final_Lap.brstm) when its done processing the final lap brstm (reset settings by deleting your Diddz file then rerun the app to apply the variable additions) 2.4 | batch sawndz injection FOR THE [censored]ING WIN!! fixed a bug where region ID kept resetting back to RSBE even if PAL ir NTSC-J was set when returning to the main screen from song select, Custom MKW directory feature, whoever plans to use this with CTGP or SHWW is an IDIOT automatically, the default assumed directory is used by SHWW and CTGP 2.5 | BRSAR Patching (BETA) special thanks to soneek **RUN COPIER AS ADMIN FOR PATCHER TO WORK 2.7 | BRSAR PATCHER NOW WORKS!! *DISABLE USC in windows vista and 7 before pressing F5 to patch it, remember to reactivate UAC if you are a securety paranoia after it patches. PROJECT M RIIVO SUPPORT! ADDED the following feature: right clicking the insert button rolls back the brsar to the last backup made changed the following feature: BRSAR patch is no longer automated upon close, press F5 to patch the brsar with updates! patcher doesnt care if you have custom voices from brawlbox, it will find the values to patch **version 2.7 was a private release for testing the added features, there were changes in the PMBR that now require more changes to the PM mode 3.0 | Pressing F2 brings up the load brstm dialog while on the course picker in MKW mode for those wanting to manually load norms and final versions of songs, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE THE PROGRAM DO THE FINAL LAP FOR YOU, PLEASE CLICK LAKITU SO HE ISNT HOLDING THE SIGN UP ADDED set me up feature!, select install file patch for the gecko version, or install file patch for SDHC cards for the riivolution set! users have to edit the GCT in brawlbox and have the codes memorized, if there are special codes, they can be added to the program in later releases via a GCT menu to get select codes to just PASTE only, yes, simply choose code, go to your gct in brawlbox, add code, and PASTE, nothing messy to look at when looking for certain codes! at the moment, only file patch and sound bank engine are supported, the GCT this program installs will INCLUDE the gecko SFX code
*THIS PROGRAM FOLLOWS THE GECKO-COMPLIANT DIRECTORY! IF YOU ARE USING ANY LOADER OTHER THAN GECKO OR RIIVOLUTION FOR GECKO USERS (BY BEYONDYOU), THIS WILL NOT PROPERLY PLACE FILES, THIS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK WITH PROJECT M, BRAWL MINUS, or BRAWL PLUS, and does NOT work WITH the BrawlMods Folder on the SD ROOT If you are new to hacking brawl, please visit the chat, and click the link in the topic to get started, if you do NOT have an SSBB disk (or broken wii drive) you will have to use gecko, DO NOT ASK ME FOR THE CODE ! you can install the file patch code (only) from the wrench menu
Ignore the random runtime error that occurs upon program close, it has something retarted to do with the auto-hex feature
HOW TO USE BRSTM (GREEN FILE) 1) load a BRSTM file 2)click on select song and pick your song to replace 3)select your region (USA is selected by default) *setting is IGNORED when in MKW mode 4)pick the ROOT drive to use (make sure its your SD card) 5) copy
**MKW users, the top boss thingy's theme will ALWAYS auto hex if final lap mode isnt turned on (check the cloud guy)
**** CAREFUL WHEN FINAL LAP MODE IS ENABLED - selecting an option copies it right away, and will overwrite the existing hack, you will be warnned beforehand if final lap mode is OFF and auto-hex is ON
SFX (SSBB ONLY) (RED FILE) 1)Load a .SAWND file 2)make sure your SD ROOT is selected (the drive letter chosen should be correct) 3)MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COPY ON THE SD CARD OF SMASHBROS_SOUND.BRSAR 4)INSERT, This will auto backup your BRSAR to C:\Brawlmods_ARC\backup.brsar. the BRSAR on your SD card will be updated with the new pack injection ****NOTE: PAL USERS IN EUROPE, MAKE SURE THE SAWND PACK WAS MADE FOR YOUR REGION, MOST PACKS ARE MADE FOR NTSC, SINCE YOUR BRSARS ARE ORGANIZED DIFFERENTLY, LOADING AN NTSC SAWND INTO YOUR BRSAR WILL CORRUPT IT, THIS APPLIES VICE VERSA FOR NTSC USERS
BATCH SAWND INJECT 1) COPY ( NOT MOVE - THESE DELETE DURING THE BATCH) all the sawnd files you want to insert into the batch_sawnd folder (program doesnt care what they are named) 2) click batch insert 3) done **some sawnd files (randomly) might not insert or the folder will be renamed for whatever strange reason, if a sawnd wasnt installed install it manually by loading it into the copier then clicking insert
ARCHIVING This program has a delete feature that will remove the selected song from your SD card, but not before archiving it to:
C:\Brawlnods_ARC\(insert today's date here)\
It's a nice feature in case you for some reason change your mind or didnt mean to delete, HOWEVER!! keep in mind that if you deleted one song, and on the same day, add another replacement for that song and delete it again, THE EXISTING ARCHIVED COPY WILL BE REPLACED!!! The folder naming format for the automated organization is a date format of: MM-DD-YYY and is very technical, so if you delete a hack late at night, and then delete another one AFTER MIDNIGHT, it will be archived to a new folder **MKW USERS, the delete functcion will affect BOTH normal AND final lap verions of the selected slot
MKW users your archives will go into C:\CTGP-BRSTM_ARC\(insert todays date here)\
Dear MKW users, this Program by default, will automatically generate a sped up version of the song you load into the program when you copy it to SD, probably making you more lazy, you can turn this off in settings, but you will have to toggle Fmode when you want to specify a final lap version of a song and copy just that version (you will need to load the file before selecting the course), Jingles and such will be auto-copied upon selection, and the file loaded will be forgotten (to prevent weirdos from causing it to produce a final lap version of the jingle LOL). I added in directory create for whatever requested apparent reason, but the program still ASSUMES CTGP OR the my stuff folder so it will make sense to go download that if you havent already MULTICHANNELS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THE PITCH-PRESERVE
If the banner at the TOP-LEFT is Brawl's banner, click it to toggle to MKW mode, the folder generation option is disabled in MKW mode, and ASSUMES the CTGP directories
Please note that when you pick an option for the TOP spinny guy boss thingy, the brstm is auto-copied, and if auto-hex is turned on, will replace that, AND the trophy run BRSTM slot right away because in CTGP, the award winning run slot is used as the final lap for SADX Twinkle Circuit and because jingles dont have final lap versions, gosh why would they lol, selecting those songs will also copy upon selecting them, overwriting what may already be there so BE CAREFUL
MODES This Program now supports auto file placement/naming for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and MarioKart Wii. The Game being managed for is indicated by the game banner in the upper-right cornner and can be clicked on to toggle
THAT RANDOM BAR THAT CHANGES AS YOU ADD CRAP TO THE DISK That bar by the SD card is actually a visual representation of how much space is left on your Card, it will gradually turn red as free space depletes. It should make managing songs and keeping track of how much you have left to work with more Unified. It will be full and the free space will Read out -1 bytes if you have a broken or inexistant disk selected, additionally, the Disk Icon at the bottom-right corner will change to an HDD with a ? mark on it indicating it cannot tell what type of disk it is.
TROUBLESHOOTING if it is NOT copying anything, then you did something wrong, MOST LIKELY to be that you set a random letter and it WASNT the technical ROOT of your SD, and actualy another drive, you can CHECK the icon at the bottom-LEFT for verification, if it is ANYTHING OTHER THAN a BLUE or GREEN SD card, you got something wrong, if you picked D and its green, more than likely you picked the FACTORY RESET DISK on your HP computer, DONT COPY TO THIS, you MAY DAMAGE THE RESET DISK
IF ITS DOING DUPLEX COPYING OR NOT COPYING TO THE RIGHT NAME OR NOT DOING SOMETHING RIGHT, THEN CLICK THE WRENCH AND CLICK FILE A BUG and tell me in my thread, if you are scared of a dead thread and unsure or something... click ABOUT instead and click the envelope to message me instead (YOU WILL NEED A KCMM ACCOUNT OR MKW.COM ACCOUNT depending where you got this program)
DAFAUQ!! THE UI IS UPSIDE DOWN WTFBBQ!!!!
LOL april fools =P to shut it off and restore it, go to the wrench menu and toggle the obvious option, Toggle Troll
DAMMIT YOU GOT US GOOD! BLACKJAX TRIED THIS ON US AND IT DIDN'T WORK DAH HAIL!?
THERE IS A VIDEO AT THE BOTTOM THAT YOU CAN USE IF FOLLOW-ALONGs ARE YOUR STYLE
once you have that AND the noise reduction plugin installed and activated (restarting ACID),
You have 2 options from this point LOL! you can: Use this file and skip the setup (Skipping to the audio file section)[but please, before you work on a new music hack, right click near the markers and (markers and regions) DELETE THEM ALL] *Note, when using my file, select ignore all missing files and leave them offline, then delete the blank clip (the markers in there are loop points for "you spin me right round", DON'T BOTHER UPLOADING THAT, I already made a copy to upload)
OR
================== Set up ACID from scratch ================== 1) open a new project and add an Audio track by right clicking the area shown and selecting it (CTRL+Q)
2) Pop open the FX box and add some Effects, leaving the track EQ alone for now
3) Add these FX in ORDER: Sony Volume, Graphic EQ, (Slide Track EQ to this slot), Clipped Peak restoration, Click and crackle removal Your Chain Should look like this:
Click OK
(DOUBLE CLICK THE MASTER AND TRACK VOLUME SLIDERS TO RESET THEM TO 0)
============= Adjusting the FX ============= 4) the BIG one we want to go for first is the graphic EQ, go to it and make sure you are on the envelope tab. Copy this pattern: (points are added when you drag the line)
5) Track EQ: (this will be restoring the bass the graphic EQ took out) enable envelope 1 and set the frequency to 250 and the mini-dropdown to low shelf as for the gain, you are free to adjust it to your liking when listening to an audio file within ACID
6) Clipped Peak restoration (AKA the safety net): just go to it and have ALL the boxes checked (You will NOT be touching the slider unless necessary [when the red bar drops too close to 6 WITH the volume low])
7) Click and crackle removal (Will remove clicks caused by "looping"): Just set the preset to remove Lots of crackle
============================ adding a wav (or MP3) and optimizing it ============================ 8 ) now drop your audio file in the timeline, sliding it to the left and a) zoom in on the beginning and drag the side of the clip to edit out the silent part
9) TURN ON LOOP
10) Double click the audio clip on the timeline to set the Loop Region to it
11) Play the project and a) right click the clip and go to event clip (spawning a sub menu) b) select Normalize
12) go back to the FX and select the volume tab a) Play around with it ( with the system volume at max) until the volume sounds like it's as loud as it can go (you can adjust the final volume later with the master slider b) go to the Clipped peak restoration tab, the red bar should be reading volume levels upside down, DO NOT LET IT GO PAST 6, the halfway point (quick millisecond jumps past it are ok), the meter should on average be constantly showing at least a sliver of red c) if the clipped peak restoration meter is dropping below 6 or hanging around it, go back to the volume tab and decrease it, if it is STILL hanging around 6, THEN adjust the slider in the clipped peak restoration tab
13) Track EQ: play around with the gain and rolloff until the music sounds decent to you
Noted out in KCMM chat* ) if you plan to loop at the end and your MP3 fades out, press V, double click the line at where the fade begins, double click the mute part of that line, and drag that point all the way up. This will *mostly* undo the fade-out
if all sounds good, GREAT onward to looping (don't go to brawlbox just yet)
============================= Looping your song (Hopefully PERFECTY) ============================= 14) you should see a dark blue bar above the timeline the same length as the clip, this is the Loop Region and as long as loop is turned on, the music will loop within these points, this is the accuracy advantage you have over finding them in brawlbox through guesswork: a) Drag the Right hand end of it to the expected end of the song before it loops b) Do the same for the Left Hand end, Only this one is for your Beginning loop point
15) play around with these points until you have found a PERFECT LOOP (Or decent one), you can fast forward (skip) close to the end loop to re-test as it will loop with no stop/start delay like it does in brawlbox ^the red and yellow highlights show its similarity to the brawlbox loop markers
16) Once you have found the loop points, click on the clip, the beginning loop and zoom ALL THE WAY IN (without losing sight of the loop point's line) and place the play cursor EXACTLY on the blue line (you can use the arrow keys to nudge it there)
17) Make sure the time is read out in samples, if it is not, right click the time readout and change the time format to Samples
18) Now you can go ahead and adjust that master volume (vertical slider) to a more suitable volume (just be warned, setting it too low under 0, will result in it being too soft in brawl) (I recommend leaving it at 0)
19) press M on keyboard to place a marker (you will delete this marker AFTER you make your BRSTM file to avoid confusion on your future projects)
20) slide the beginning loop point of the Loop region ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT END OF THE TIMELINE
21) (with the cursor still on that beginning loop), Render as Wav (checking the boxRender Loop Region only [ this will eliminate the need to adjust the end point in brawlbox])
=========== BrawlBox Part =========== 22) Open brawlbox and go for your usual New BRSTM, and open your rendered wav from ACID
23) Remember that time setting in ACID? the cursor should still be at the loop point (if it isn't you can click on the marker you placed to easily restore it) copy the time (AKA samples) value (by that I mean type it out) into the start field (your start loop point setting) and press enter
23) the moment of truth: enable the loop checkbox and TEST IT, it should be PERFECT or at least NEAR PERFECT
============================================================================= feedback welcome on this part
1) Optimising SFX generally follows the same steps for BRSTMs except they skip the looping part and has the EQs off MOST (not all) of the time (so go and make those adjustments from the BRSTM guide)
*the steps taken in acid should ONLY follow the volume optimisation steps (of cource you are free to do your OWN adjustments, in which case, SKIP to the rendering step)
================================ Converting to mono and frequency settings ================================
2) if you have your SFX set and loop region highlighting the whole clip (or part you want to SFXify), RIGHT CLICK the clip, go to the first option (spawning submenu), then go to CHANNELS, and choose either:
Left Only Right Only Combine (RECOMMENDED)
======== RENDERING ========
3) Go to render as (in file or the render button)
4) set the format to WAV, and CLICK CUSTOM
5) set the channels to MONO
6) set the frequency to:
48KHz (if if falls within the target SFX's time and it's frequency is the same)
32KHz (recommended) (If the target SFX is 48KHz, but the length is longer)
16Khz (for EVERYTHING ELSE)
6KHz (if the SFX you are making is for the wii mote sound)
7) click ok then render it
8 ) (THIS PART MAY LOOK DIFFERENT IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS VISTA or 7 32-bit) the reason why my smashbox window look like XP is because I am using it on a 64 bit OS, If you would like to lean how to get it to work (AND PLAY SOUNDS [this is what doesn't work with it on 64 bit], click the guide link in my sig)
open smashbox and find the Group ID, Collection ID, and wave ID of the SFX you want to replace and copy those into Sawndz (Example Images below for noobs)
^Group ID ^Collection ID
^Wave ID
9) Click Insert (Not insert sawnd lol [noobs])
10) CLOSE THE OPEN BRSAR IN SMASHBOX (or close smashbox) (LEAVING IT OPEN WILL RESULT IN SAWND FAILURE)
11)go to and double click the sound you rendered, and wait for the next step
12) SUCCESS! go test
fake step 13) I am looking forward you your feedback, if you have problems with running smashbox in windows XP mode, let me know in the smashbox on 64 bit guide
============= Word of Advice
if you take that extra mile, ANYTHING can be looped
if you feel like having some fun, you can play around with the other plugins. Here is one you can use to replicate the effect mariokart DS, wii, and 7 does to the music if you get shrunk or shocked using the vibrato effect:
RENAMING NOTES: I was originally going to add THP automation to my brstm copier (which uses GUI to correctly rename and place music hax on the SD and reads out remaining space), but i lost the save file in the 2TB HDD death. the categories will have the THP name in parenthesis
for this hack type, I will only take a maximum of 2 requests per day (the render times make it tedious to do)Requests queued: 0 | Projects queued: 0
I am fresh out of ideas to troll around with so until a youtube poop or something weird comes up I'm not making any THPs for now

*I don't know if it fits here better than the normal tutorial section, (such perfectionist when it comes to categorizing)
If it is pestering you that you MUST use smashbox, but you are on a 64-bit OS, follow this guide, it will enable you to utilize smashbox under 32-bit processing within the 64-bit OS
SHABAM! who said you can't use smashbox on 64-bit? I'd say otherwise, at least for those with windows 7 pro, ultimate, or enterprise.
*if you have windows 7 home premium, you can install virtual PC, install winXP, then set it up for smashbox use (but you won't be able to have it interact with the rest of your compter)
**If you already have 32-bit, DON'T bother with this guide, smashbox works fine in windows 7 alone if you have 32-bit
Notes: the smashbox "installer" will run silently then close, no window will open when you run it, but it only stays open for about 4 seconds and you don't need to choose any options on it anyway, so why have the need to click next when you can just launch it and done with no interaction?
so before reading on, this tutorial will ONLY work for you at all if you are running windows 7 (except starter), it will NOT work for windows vista ultimate and older.
download links used in tutorial:
Smashbox installer (silent) [used for allowing you to boot it under xp outside the virtual machine, simply copying smashbox will not let it boot from windows 7] VirtualPC Windows XP mode (32-bit, this is what will be processing smashbox in windows 7 64-bit) Net Framework [ 1.01.1 2.03.03.13.5 ]
====checking your edition of windows====
1) go to start and type Anytime Upgrade press enter.
and check your edition of windows 7, if it reads professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise, then go to next step, if not, you can upgrade now from this screen (NOT FREE, unless you have the upgrade key, and don't bother pirating either, because to get virtual PC or winXP mode, the site will check for genuine windows), or follow this guide until you reach *your end*, but you won't get interaction with the whole computer in smashbox
once you confirmed your edition:
====Downloading virtual PC====
**If you are one of the qualified editions**
(you need to select the 64 bit version of your edition of windows 7 for it to let you install XP mode)
2) return to the site in step 1 and download and install windows XP mode
3) XP mode is a preactivated windows XP professional, there are no worries here unlike those following the home premium part
REAL step 3) go to the top of this post and download ALL the net framework versions up to V4 (V4 is part of windows update so be sure to run that as well in windows XP mode)
5) open windows Virtual PC, bringing up a folder instead of the program and right click windows XP mode and select settings
6) Turn off the following: Network features (this is to disconnect it from the internet to avoid internet-based attacks to the virtual machine) undo disks Optical drives
7) (OPTIONAL) Go to start>all>windows Virtual PC>windows XP mode applications>Smashbox>(create a shortcut to smashbox where you wish with the program in there)
test if it works, if it does, then YAY you can boot smashbox in windows 7 64-bit and it will be processed by windows XP 32-bit, it can interact with the rest of the computer, so use it like you would if you were on a 32-bit OS without this mumbo jumbo
7) if smashbox gives an error of any kind before it opens up, make sure you have ALL framework versions under V4 installed
(it may be annoying to flip drives back and forth between the 2 machines to use smashbox, but hey, it works, try finding your own, creative way to flip-flop the drives between windows 7 and the virtual machine)
Don't believe me? feel like being a troll? well I troll you back with the following evidence that this will work: watch video

you should see success when it work with the sounds
I found an ISO that has already been hacked with wii scrubber (because this is the USA ISO with the japanese BRSAR in it) I tried the replace thing and then try running it in dolphin, dolphins says "(iso name) is not a valid GC/wii ISO"
I do NOT need the ISO hunting tip anymore, I need assistance AFTER you have an ISO steps
when I try partition replacement (using partition builder to replace ALL the files i want at once, instead of one by one, one of 2 things happen:
>wii scrubber crashes and the ISO becomes 19 GB in size >all partitions go bad
I am trying to do an HD recording of a brawl replay using dolphin (I cannot stretch my dazzle recording to 720p as it is not truly rendered nor captured at that resolution) I know there's that KC-MM HD thing, but i doubt they will take my submission
is there any other way to load the hacks? or am I doing EVERYTHING wrong?
again the ISO i googled and found was previously file-replaced with a japanese brsar, so I am SURE I have the *correct* ISO this time
if anyone can help me further on this, (EXCLUDING THE ISO AND TORRENT STEPS) I would appreciate that
(other information that might help you find my problem)
wii scrubber gives a wave of IO read/FST (or something).bin errors, and they do not state what they are or what it is every time it parses the file
Dolphin version: 3.x
Partition builder Version: 1.0
(at this time, I am trying to get the dump frames in dolphin to output something that is NOT 480p or lower, and I am not succeeding at it - using the XVID codec)
I can assist you in doing your THP, or compile it for you, keep in mind that THP compile requests are lower priority on my list if I am doing another hack
HEDDO there, when I first started here, I only made BRSTM hacks, then I learned how the THP creation goes. way before I got into hacking brawl, I was good at video editing using sony vegas to make crap like RSMVs, deinterlace, gaming videos, and pointless brawl matches
*this is my first time writing ANY kind of guide, so don't hate me for being lame guide writer MON
*the available .veg file in this guide requires sony vegas pro 9 at least I will show you how I make my THPs:
I have placed markersin this project file, which mark the time restraints of said THP clip These Time restraints are: >OPmovie visual start is at 6.240s >OPMovie length is 01:59.686 >E3 length is 02:31.451 >How to Play length is 01:14.041
I won't label the rest because the ones listed are the only ones I know to be most targeted towards. now, you can drop your video in the timeline, while keeping in mind that if you are targeting the OPMovie, that the Green area Marks the point in time that the video doesn't play while the sound from the hack DOES play, otherwise, resize the clip's right end so that it snaps to the marker with the label of your target THP (or end at the listed time if you are doing this from scratch).
SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU ARE USING THE FILE INCLUDED WITH THIS GUIDE and you are pretty much done, now you just need to set the project settings. click circled button in the video preview section
set the: Video size 720x480 Field order None (Progressive Scan) Pixel aspect ratio 1.2121 (NTSC DV Widescreen) Framerate29.970 Pixel format 32-bit floating point (Full range) Full res. rendering quality Best Deinterlace method: None (If you have no interlaced video in the project) Interpolate fields (if you have at LEAST one interlaced video in the project)
Now uncheck the adjust source media to match project settings box
Now you can render as
render the video AS: MPEG2 with: (Click custom) 720x480 resolution 29.970 FPS 4:3 aspect ratio progressive scan (field order) HIGH ASS QUALITY (slider) Constant bitrate @ 8,000,000
NOW, drop the finished video in a new instance of vegas, and set the project settings to:
Video size 576x416 Pixel aspect ratio 1.0 (square) Field order None (Progressive Scan) Full res. rendering quality Best no deinterlacing
THEN
Render AS:
1.wav @ 32Khz (or 41KHz if you want)
THEN
image sequence (JPEG) [FORMAT] (sony vegas will render them with the name format "(name)_######.jpg") (MAKE SURE YOU ARE RENDERING TO AN EMPTY FOLDER, the next step will rename everything in your said destination, the said wav file is ok)
(LAG WILL HAPPEN IF YOU KEEP THE FOLDER YOU ARE SAVING TO OPEN)
then use this to do a batch rename, leaving the prefix letters empty and using 5 0s (and the suffix as ".JPG") DEH exampole is below (see bottom of the pic)
click rename ALL (this will save alot of time than doing it with super)
