1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: KJP's Throne Room. Opening Thread Overhauled! on: October 02, 2017, 07:11:24 PM
Huh, surprised you're still PSA'ing Brawl!

Looks neato too!

Sorry for the Necro, but this is something that needs addressing. The anti-bot filter needs to be updated in some way or another.

Just today, we have three freshly created spambot accounts (one of the three was mad yesterday), who have been posting in dead threads with semi-related comments, but at the bottom of their posts, they try sneaking in a hyperlink to something.

These are the bots in question.
Bot 1.
Bot 2.
Bot 3.
Huh, I'll take them out in the meantime.

It's not that we don't care. Would any of you really say I don't care?

Hell, I'll even take the time to make a spiffy updated skin for the forum for free.
And I'll provide the new flavor of emoticons too.
Can't offer to update brawlvault since Vyse is the only one who can touch it.

I seriously can't believe most people are using that atrocious banana site for their source on sm4sh mods, while we have the best possible platform to showcase smash content just accumulating dust.
I wholeheartedly agree. Problem is that Vyse is the sole programmer of the Vault. I tried to do as much as I could with the Forums (Talked to everyone until we finally chose how to re-structure the forums for Sm4sh, managed to get a hold of the dead S.J.S. to help with the forum re-skin for when Sm4sh Vault came, and tried to keep the Vault Staff alive while others just quit), but until Vyse manages to finish the Vault Update in his free time, I'm really limited as to what else I could help with.

Hell, I'll even take the time to make a spiffy updated skin for the forum for free.
Sure, that'd be something we could consider. Try and make a pilot.

Also, all of us are doing this for free. Vyse's actually using his money to keep this alive. There's not even a donate button anymore as Vyse didn't even care to move it to the board after removing the blog.

Please stop with the accusations; Until Vyse manages to finish the Vault Update, there's nothing else to do other than update the forum's layout, and that's something neither me or Vyse can do, nor do I believe would achieve nothing unless it's released together with the Sm4sh Vault.

I agree. I can move if you want, unless you rather do it yourself.
Go for it.  Tongue

Should this be moved to the new Sm4sh boards?
Indeed. I believe this section should be all migrated (or moved) onto Wii U Discussion. Thoughts?

So sm4sh vault and brawl vault be incorporated to one vault? If its separated, does that also mean the same staff can manage both?
According to plan, it'll be incorporated to one Vault, but will have the option to browse Sm4sh Wii U/3DS/Brawl content separately.
does that also mean the same staff can manage both?
Yes, and we might get new recruits if necessity arises.

Maybe the role should be "Vault Staff" instead.
Plan is to rename the Brawl Vault to Smash Vault, and so the name of the role will change to the one you've mentioned as well.
9  Super Smash Bros. 4 Hacking / Smash 4 (Wii U) Hacking / Re: DSX8 stuff! SmashU Mods!! Not sure what to put here atm - 09/19/16 on: September 19, 2016, 10:31:12 PM
Look, I'm sorry, I was upset, or rather, annoyed at the fact everyone seems to be all over this and I eating their dusts, figuratively speaking. But now I have a guide, I can dump the game (which will take forever lol), and install mods. Making them however....yeah.
Yes, you can ask questions, but what made you think that DSX8's thread was the perfect topic for it? There's a Help board for a reason.

Don't mind me, I'm just here to christen this board then I'll be on my way.

<_< Thanks for reminding me to lock stickies.

Can we limit notifications to posts from specific users on a thread? Who I want to receive notifications from would vary by thread though.
Can't think of anything that'd make this possible, no.

Once we disable notifications for a thread, is there a way to make new posts from that thread no longer appear in "Show new replies to your posts"?

These would be nice features to have.
Sadly, you'll need to delete allyour posts in said thread for notifications to not to appear in "Show new replies to your posts".

The Sm4sh sections (For Wii U and 3DS respectively) have been (finally) opened. Please give them some use. Vyse is still working on the Brawl Vault update for Sm4sh.

A few guidelines for making use of this section efficiently:

Since we are now using a single section for every kind of hacking, we need you to tag your threads according to the hacks you'll be showcasing in them. The tags shall be as follows:

[M]: Models.
[V]: Vertex Hacking.
[T]: Textures.
[S]: Stages.
[CSS]: Character Selection Screen/Portraits/Misc.
[A]: Animations.
[PSA] Modifications to the character's attributes (Be it damage, attacks, hitboxes, etc).

Add these in the title of your respective threads.

14  Super Smash Bros. 4 Hacking / Requests / Requesting Guidelines on: September 19, 2016, 08:18:18 AM
A few guidelines for making an easily navigable request topic, and hopefully get the attention of more hackers to your request:

(This is a guideline --- you are free to add or remove things depending on the request, but please try to make it easy to understand.)

First, you need a clear and concise title, like "Shadow over Sonic".
You can just stay with "Shadow" if you're not sure who you want to put him over.

What you need to give in the topic:

  • The character you are requesting. Don't say "I want a character done in Brawl. Anyone interested?".
If your character is an original character, mention it.
  • At least one reference picture (Or a link to the model rip you want to see imported). The more of the character or stage is visible, the better.
Large pictures should be put into spoilers.
  • (If applicable) What character you'd like it over.

These are the bare minimum.

Now, if you want to make your request much more interesting, take a few minutes to check if there is a model rip of your character somewhere on Google. Or at least a texture rip.
The first one will act as the best kind of reference ever, and the second one can be used directly to texture the vertex/model. That way, the generous hacker who's going to take your request should have an easier time making it. Smiley
