    so ur not using actual fog, but fake fog? xD

    I'm using both. All stages use "fog," which only affects the visibility of far-away background objects. It doesn't actually look like fog nor does it have a texture. Any background mist or fogs that you see in Brawl stages are actually models and are animated via SRT0.

    So theoretically, I might be able to give a nice depth to the stage by using two fog models and implementing some parallax motion magic by offsetting the speeds of the SRT0 animations. We'll see. :L

    i also thought the fog in front looked better compared to being in the back of the caverns (like in the video). when in front, it really gives it depth and a sense of atmosphere. it's niice to know yer thinking of making 2 versions and possibly finding a "one-size-fit-all" version too though. dedication!

    out of curiosity, did you animate everything in there yerself? the Metroids and other stuff animate pretty fluidly.


    To an extent... the Queen uses animations from Other M that I stringed together by appending them. The Metroids use an idle animation from the Assist Trophy as a base, and I animated their translational movement myself (up and down for the platform 'Troids, and the wavy motion for the ones in the back)

    The only other things I animated myself were the fog and the platform. It was really really hard.

    Anywho, I haven't worked too much on the stage since Spring Break ended what with work and school and such, but I did get the dual-layered fog put into place. It's actually kind of hard to notice that there are even two layers there, but if you look reeeeeaaaaally hard you might see it. Maybe.

    I've also been working on learning how to use Dolphin to make high definition showcase videos, but it doesn't dump audio along with it, unfortunately, and running the video through Pinnacle makes the video look like poop.

    I'm bored and I dunno what else to do to Phase 9.

    If you have, like, an idea for a stage, and a link/links to model(s) that I could use to make it, go ahead and ask, if you want. I'm willing to take a Sonic request, maybe. Not too sure.

    I hope this doesn't come off as me sounding pretentious, like I assume that everyone in the world wants me to make them a stage or something. That would be no good. :[

    Oh, just my favorite Sega character ever's game.

    Probably Pirate's island, which is this place:

    Let's Play Billy Hatcher and The Giant Egg - Stage 2 (Story Missions)


    Day or night would be cool. Lots of Scenic spots around. I'll do my best to get you a good rip.

    Oh, and I can rip you anything you need in regards to ambiance. From the scarved penguins, to the flying firebomb rhinos, to any of the enemies, the bad sharks, the good sharks, the ostriches, flaming kangaroos, flash-stepping horned cheetas, light clusterbomb chickens, eggs to roll, etc. Anything.

    Maybe an Alien(s) themed stage could be considered?

    I'm still thinking of what the stage could be like.

    Maybe having a Xenomorph occasionally run in the background would be cool, but the model I know of has a high face count (maybe for a stage, it doesn't). So maybe a Facehugger or a Chestburster could occasionally make its way in the background.

    Or maybe have the Queen watching the battle. But stages in which a large character watches the battle have already been done a lot already. <.>

    I'll look for videos and pictures to help explain a bit more.

    I'm kind of liking the boss stage there... I try to avoid walk-offs, but that background is nice. Maybe even have Captain Glur pop in and out of the water puddles at times?

    If you ripped and rigged him, we could do a super awesome collab or something. Cheesy

    I'd be willing to consider one, but without models I don't think so. I'm not really looking to model things from scratch, at the moment. I just have a weird itch that I need to scratch quickly. :|

    Ehhhhhh I dunno about that one... I know City Escape has been in the plans of other people, and I don't have much interest in the stage so I'd rather not encroach on other peoples' "territory," so to speak.

    I know I said I'd consider Sonic, but that was sort of a last resort kind of thing, heheh.

    Okay. That's fine.

    As for the idea I had in mind, how about LV-426?

    These images may be fan art, but they should help.




    If you do consider it, maybe add in a sandstorm effect. It would be similar to adding falling snow, rain, etc.

    Another idea (this would be to make it not so dull), if possible would be to occasionally move the stage, so that it goes to a different part of LV-426 with a different land style (like one could be flat, and another could be a drop off, etc).

    I'll see if I can think of anything else...

    It's on. Glur should be an easy rig, the boss arena an easy rip.

    Hmmm, I don't see any enemies in the boss arena, so I guess not... though I was hoping to use those sharks in the water somehow. Or the penguins, they were cute, but I don't want to just slap 'em in there. XD

    Just Glur, I guess... oh! And if there are any good floating platform models in the main stage, that'd be good. I could always just take something from Brawl and remap it, but anything from the actual game is welcome.

    I'll see if I can think of anything else...

    And I also remembered that I have some character models from AvP 2010 that could be used. But only a Xenomorph and a Facehugger.
